It had been rumored that the signing was made already a few weeks back and it has now been confirmed. The backup keeper was signed from West Ham in 2019 on a free. Since then he has 26 appearances in which he has just 7 clean sheets.

His infamous run came when he started between then posts in the Champions League, while Allison was injured. His errors led to goals that knocked Liverpool out of the UCL via Atletico Madrid in 2020.

Recently, the Spanish goalkeeper revealed in a recent interview that he was in talks to sign a contract extension with the Reds.

“I have a great relationship with the manager and the club. We’ve been in talks and we’re really close. I know the situation and my role in the squad. Everyone wants to play and have minutes on the pitch, but you also need a big squad with good people who will commit everything every day in training.”

Meanwhile, the usual number 2, Caoimhín Kelleher is rumored to be leaving the club. Many clubs including Brighton, Tottenham, and Brentford are interested in his services.

Meanwhile, Mac Allister is said to be a ‘done deal’ with only the official news yet to be shared. The rumored fee is said to be around £60 million for the Argentine.

Moreover, with a midfield rebuild in mind, the Reds are in talks to sign a few top targets this summer.

The French duo of Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram are heavily linked to Liverpool. They are expected to make their move to Anfield this summer.

However, nothing as of now is certain and we are yet to see what Liverpool makes of this season’s transfer market.
