Done deal  24-year-old Liverpool Players Said His Done……

Gareth Southgate has lauded Trent Alexander-Arnold’s development in recent weeks after finding a new role for Liverpool, with the defender now back in the England picture.

Speaking to the Three Lions’ official website, the England manager was full of praise for the 24-year-old after flourishing in the final weeks of the Premier League season in an inverted fullback role, a change that has seen Alexander-Arnold rediscover his form.

The Liverpool star has been named in Southgate’s England squad for next month’s 2024 Euro qualifier nos, and many are tipping Alexander-Arnold to reprise his new inverted role on the international stage, though it’s unlikely such a move will be made.

Nevertheless, Alexander-Arnold’s return to the England set-up is a welcome move from Southgate, and the 52-year-old is excited by what the Liverpool defender has done in recent weeks in a central role for the Anfield giants.

Southgate said: “He’s a super footballer and he’s playing in a slightly different role. He has always been in advanced areas with the ball, he’s just a bit more central now. It’s interesting for us and an option and something I have spoken to him about in recent weeks. We are looking forward to working with Trent.”

Alexander-Arnold is arguably England’s most technically-gifted defender in this current crop of players, and with the Liverpool man starring in a central role at club level, Southgate has to push the boat out and give the 24-year-old a shot to work his magic on the international stage.

With two easy fixtures on the horizon for the Three Lions, this summer is as perfect an opportunity as there is to try Alexander-Arnold in a new role for England, and the change could be the missing link Southgate is lacking to get the best out of his squad for next year’s Euros.
