West Ham United are refusing to let Gianluca Scamacca leave on loan this summer, so Roma and Milan will need his help to break that resistance

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Hammers have given the first response to a proposal from the Giallorossi to take him on loan with an option to buy.

The reply was negative, as the Premier League side – who followed Roma in lifting the Conference League trophy – believe they can clinch a sale for the centre-forward.

West Ham out-bid Paris Saint-Germain last summer for Sassuolo hitman Scamacca, paying €36m plus another €6m in potential bonuses and a 10 per cent cut of the resale value.

He contributed eight goals in 27 competitive games this season, but injuries and difficulties adapting to the defend and counter tactics saw him struggle as the campaign wore on.

Roma remain the favourites, but simply cannot afford a permanent transfer, especially after losing Tammy Abraham for six months to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

It is reported that Scamacca’s agents will need to push for an immediate exit from West Ham and help Roma strike a deal for the loan
