Liverpool are also exploring a move for Thuram’s French under-21 international teammates Manu Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach.

He would be their second signing of the summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to move quickly in the transfer market.

World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister has joined from Brighton in a deal worth an initial £35million, rising to £55m with add-ons.

Klopp is looking for a serious overhaul in his midfield this summer after the release of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.

Thuram and Kone were also both spotted together in a recent Instagram video amid links to Merseyside.

The clip was posted on Marcus Thuram’s Instagram account, Khephren’s older brother.

Kone is rated at £38m and is seen as a possible alternative to Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool-linked Bellingham is heading to Real Madrid with Borussia Dortmund announcing they had reached an agreement with the club.

The England international heads to Madrid for an initial £88.5m, which could rise to £115m with add-ons.

Liverpool agree ‘personal terms’ with ‘hardworking’ star as Klopp dreams of £55m transfer

Liverpool have struck a deal with Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram according to the latest reports as Jurgen Klopp looks to secure his second summer signing.

Fresh off signing Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, Liverpool are already working hard on their next deal.

The addition of Mac Allister will give the Reds a much-needed boost in midfield, but Klopp is keen to sign another player in this position.

Thuram has been a player of interest for quite some time now and according to the latest reports, Liverpool are already in advanced talks.

According to Football Transfers, the French midfielder has ‘verbally agreed to personal terms’ with Liverpool.

The clubs are now in discussions over a transfer fee as Nice are looking to secure as much money as possible for one of their prized assets.

Thuram is contracted with the French club until 2025 and so they are in a strong position to negotiate his price.

It is believed that the 22-year-old has a price tag of £55m, which Nice are determined to get as a lump sum.

Liverpool are expected to have more money to play with after they sealed the Mac Allister deal for just £35m.

A deal for Thuram would be a big boost for Liverpool heading into next season and an indicator of their ambition.

The Nice midfielder featured in 35 Ligue 1 matches this season and scored two goals and provided four assists.

He does some of his best work out of possession though, winning an average of 1.5 tackles per game.

Didier Digard, who has taken charge of the French club since January, has given a gleaming report on the 22-year-old.

“Khephren’s fantastic,” explained Didier Digard. “He’s very hardworking, very attentive.

“On rest days he’s at the training centre. He recovers quickly for back-to-back matches and completes high-intensity training.

“He listens and applies himself. He has room for improvement and he’s in demand. He simply eats up video analysis, additional sessions.

“He also advises others, because he takes on a leadership role. He’s also discovering himself as a person.”

Liverpool fans will be keen to see Thuram in action and provided the negotiations run smoothly, the Reds are in a strong position to land his signature.

Klopp hasn’t been messing around in the transfer market so far as he is keen to get back to the top of the Premier League.
