Man United fans fume as Liverpool supporter spotted with unpopular owner Avram Glazer

Manchester United supporters are spitting with rage after seeing Avram Glazer snapped alongside a Liverpool jersey.

Hostilities towards the American family from United fans are well documented, with protests reaching boiling point last summer. Thousands of Red Devils marched on Old Trafford ahead of a game with Liverpool due to a lack of investment in the summer transfer window.

That is not the first time animosity has heightened, with another fixture, also against Liverpool, being forcibly postponed after fans stormed the stadium to condemn the controversial European Super League proposals. The tension stems back to when the Glazers first bought Man United in 2005 using leveraged funds.

Overnight, the Red Devils were saddled with £550million worth of debt and the takeover was criticised. A fall from grace in English football – with United not winning the Premier League since 2013 – has only intensified the resentment.

Fast forward to the present and a potential sale is on the cards. British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari prince Sheikh Jassim are the front-runners to acquire the keys to Old Trafford, with the Glazers releasing a statement in November flirting with an exit.

But any departure will not be done without one more act to irk United fans. On Thursday, the red half of Manchester were furious as Avram Glazer was snapped with a Liverpool supporter.

Prominent United YouTuber Mark Golbridge hit out at the picture once the image went viral. He commented: “Only a Glazer would have the lack of awareness to not realise or care (that) they’re taking a selfie with a Liverpool fan.”

Another simply demanded the Glazers to “get out of our club”, a sentiment shared by millions of Red Devils. While Man United qualified for the Champions League in Liverpool’s place, it is Reds supporters who boast the last laugh after the Americans’ latest cock-up.

Exciting Ligue 1 star sent message about completing move to Liverpool

LIVERPOOL target Khephren Thuram has been urged to remain at current club OGC Nice for the sake of his development.

As per L’Equipe, Thuram has been identified as a priority target for Liverpool as they look to freshen up the squad and make a fresh push for that Premier League title next season.

But the 22-year-old has been warned against a move to Anfield in the coming months. His manager at Nice, Didier Digard, has spoke glowingly about Thuram’s work ethic but has warned against an imminent exit from the Allianz Riviera.

“Khephren’s fantastic,” the Nice boss told RMC Sport.

“He’s very hardworking, very attentive. On rest days he’s at the training centre. He recovers quickly for back-to-back matches and completes high-intensity training.

“He’s already in the France team, but I’m convinced that he’ll have a very big career. But there must still be a little bit in Nice to go to continue his progress.”

Added to that – Thuram insists he is happy at Nice amid reports linking him with a move to Anfield.

“I want to progress, go on the field, have fun. For now, I’m in Nice, it’s going very well, I really like the club, so I still see myself in Nice. I am very well in Nice,” he told L’Equipe.

“There are noises, I hear, but I’m happy in Nice, I hope to grow with this club. I would like him (Didier Digard, his coach) to stay because he brought a lot to this group when it was in a difficult period.

I don’t know if I tell him enough but he’s someone I can never thank enough.

‘He helped me a lot in difficult times in my young career. We worked a lot together. I wish him only happiness, in Nice, or elsewhere.”
