Liverpool Transfer News – Real Madrid identify Andy Robertson as a potential left-back target

According to Daily Mail, Real Madrid has placed Liverpool’s Andy Robertson on their summer shortlist for left-back options. Daily Mail further reports that Madrid feels a deal in the £40M range would be enough to complete a transfer. It is a little hard to believe that Liverpool would accept a fee so low but Madrid’s interest in Robertson makes sense. The 14-time Champions League winners want to bring in a left-back this summer.

Ferland Mendy got injured mid-way through the season and midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been thrown into the left-back spot for Madrid. Robertson would be a phenomenal option for Los Blancos but it is difficult imagining the Scotsman leaving Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Liverpool Transfer News – Manchester United are ready to challenge Liverpool for Mason Mount’s signature

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea wants more than £70M for Mason Mount and a contract extension is now unlikely. Incoming Mauricio Pochettino tried to help with talks but Mount now looks set to leave his boyhood club. Manchester United want Mason Mount and this is further supported by The Guardian’s report. Ten Hag intends to add in the midfield and United feel confident in being able to sign Mason Mount. To date, Liverpool has been regarded as the front-runner for Mason Mount.

Liverpool Transfer News – Liverpool scouts have watched Dani Olmi and Dominik Szoboszlai

According to Sean Walsh and Graeme Bailey of 90min, Liverpool scouts recently attended a match between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig. Arsenal and Manchester United scouts were also present. Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on midfielders Dani Olmo and Dominik Szoboszlai. Both Leipzig players have been integral parts of the club’s recent success, including winning the DFB Pokal last season.

‘Poor pick’: Michael Owen suggests Liverpool youngster has been a letdown this season

Michael Owen has reacted to his start-of-the-season pick of backing Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho to be ‘Young Player of the Season’.

Liverpool secured the 20-year-old’s talents from newly-promoted Fulham and Owen backed him to become the best youngster in the Premier League for the 2022/23 campaign.

But, upon looking back on his predictions from August, which included backing Luis Diaz to be ‘one watch’, Owen admits it has been a ‘poor pick’, as he told Premier League Productions (22/05/23 at 11:30 pm).

Fabio Carvalho joined with high exceptions on his shoulders and the hope that he would follow in the footsteps of the thriving Harvey Elliott.

But, as Jurgen Klopp’s side struggled to pick a title-winning start to the campaign, it didn’t help the cause of Carvalho because even the senior players were struggling.

Nonetheless, when looking back on his Carvalho and Diaz predictions, Owen was keen to forget about it.

“Let’s forget about the last two, yeah,” said Owen. “We have had a good season on the Final Word, so forget about those.

“On a serious note, the young talent is probably a poor pick.”

The all-action midfielder has played 13 Premier League games this season, scoring two goals, including four appearances in the Champions League.

But given that Carvalho has struggled to get minutes for a side that has major issues in the middle of the park, then it isn’t a surprise that he could leave in the summer.

Given that the Reds are going to look to bolster their midfield, then it’s going to make life even more difficult for Carvalho next season, so it’s best that he does leave on loan.
