Liverpool to ‘complete three new signings’ as Real Madrid are warned off £44m Reds star

Premier League side Liverpool are looking to complete three new signings before the end of June, according to reports.

The Reds have had a poor season by their standards with Jurgen Klopp’s side leaving their best form of the campaign too late to make the top four.

Fifth-placed Liverpool – who play already-relegated Southampton on the final day of the season – will have to settle for Europa League football next term with seven wins in their last eight matches not good enough to drag Manchester United or Newcastle United out of the top four.

And now Klopp is planning to bring in a number of new signings to improve his squad with midfield a big priority as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita all get set to leave Anfield at the end of their contracts.

Football Insider claims that the Liverpool boss is hopeful that the Reds will ‘complete three new signings by the end of June’ with his transfer team ‘prioritising deals for central midfielders, a centre-back and a right-back, while a backup goalkeeper is also being considered if Caoimhin Kelleher leaves this summer’.

The report adds that ‘bringing in multiple midfield targets’ is their ‘top priority’ and Liverpool are ‘growing increasingly confident’ of securing a deal for Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister in the near future.

Liverpool are understood to be keen to get a number of deals done early so that ‘they can join up with the squad for the start of the club’s pre-season tour’.

Andy Robertson was recently linked with a move away from Anfield with Spanish giants Real Madrid said to be interested in a £44m deal for the Scotland international.

Los Blancos reportedly want Robertson to replace Ferland Mendy with the France international’s injury record convincing Real Madrid to entertain offers if they arrive this summer.

However, former West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie reckons Robertson’s compatriot Kieran Tierney “is better” if Real Madrid are looking for a left-back.

“It is good for Scotland and Scottish football,” McAvennie told Football Insider.

“They were talking about Kieran Tierney as well. I think Tierney is better than Andy, I think he is a better defender.

“I think either of them would fit in at Real Madrid. Either one alongside Vinicius Junior would be magnificent.

“I could see it working with either of them but Liverpool certainly need a revamp.”

Real Madrid considering move for Liverpool star

Liverpool face bottom side Southampton in their final match of the Premier League season on Sunday.

The Reds have missed out on a place in next season’s Champions League following Manchester United’s win over Chelsea on Thursday, meaning Jurgen Klopp’s side will instead have to settle for a place in the Europa League.

This summer is set to be one of significant change at Anfield, with several players on their way out of the club and a number of big names being linked with moves to Merseyside.

Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Roberto Firmino will all depart the club when their contracts expire at the end of June, meaning the game against the Saints will be their last.

Now, though, it appears that Firmino could be in line for a huge move to a European giant.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the striker is one of a number of potential targets being considered by Spanish side Real Madrid.

The Brazilian, who scored during his final appearance at Anfield last weekend, is reportedly being considered by the reigning European champions as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Firmino will leave Liverpool this summer

Firmino, 31 joined the Reds from German side Hoffenheim in 2015 and has since made more than 360 appearances for Liverpool.

He has scored 110 goals and provided 79 assists across all competitions, winning seven trophies including the Champions League and Premier League.

This season, the Brazil international has found his playing time reduced slightly following the arrival of Darwin Nunez last summer.

Firmino has started just 12 Premier League matches so far this term, although he has scored 12 goals across all competitions and also registered five assists.

Whilst Romano claims that the forward is being considered by Real, he does also make clear that no official negotiations or talks have begun between the Spanish side and the player’s representatives.

The player, who would be available as a free agent, is said to be one of ‘four or five’ players being monitored by the La Liga club.
