Liverpool sign up‘transfer consultant’for 3 months–Announcement on way

Jorg Schmadtke’s arrival at Liverpool is set to become official, according to the German media.

The Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung (via Sport Buzzer, from the same editorial group) writes that the 59-year-old has already signed a contract with the Reds.

Schmadtke is arriving at Liverpool as a ‘transfer consultant’. He’s expected to be in Liverpool by Friday and then be presented to the fans.

Despite initial claims that the official would be a sports director at the club, they’re bringing him initially to do consultant job ‘with all the powers’, the story says.

He’s set to work alongside Liverpool’s chief scouts Dave Fallows and Barry Hunter, and at first his work will only take place for three months, until the end of the transfer window.

Only then, Liverpool will evaluate whether Schmadtke should stay at the club or not.

According to the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, it’s in this period that the Reds will ‘intensify’ their pursuit of a sports director.

Schmadtke previously worked for several German clubs, having his last job as a managing director at Wolfsburg between 2018 and 2023. He’d been unemployed since January, and now embraces his first work outside of Germany.
