Liverpool quietly unveil another new kit for Aston Villa match

Liverpool fans at Anfield will get their first glimpse of the new goalkeeper kit as Alisson Becker will wear it against Aston Villa for the first time ahead of the 2023-24 season.

On May 18, the new home kit was released to the public just under two weeks after the strip was unveiled. The kit pays homage to Bill Shankly and the legendary Reds manager’s final season in charge at Anfield. For the next campaign, the iconic kit from the 1973-74 season, that saw the Scot’s side scoop the FA Cup, has been reimagined.

Its classic design sees the bright Liverpool red with white contrast collar and cuffs which will be debuted in the final home game of the season against Unai Emery’s side today.

As part of the announcement video, there was a throwback booth setting which saw the Reds players from both the Men’s and Women’s squad feature in the production plus a few cameos from legendary Liverpool figures of yesteryear.

However, there was no sign of the Brazilian shot-stopper in the videos which means it will be debuted in the final home game of the season against their European rivals.

It features a similar design to the goalkeeper strip from this year that was a light shade of green. For the upcoming campaign, Alisson will be wearing another green shirt which features different shades of green in a brush stroke-like design.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said on the kit: “The new home shirt is a classic. Given the inspiration behind the design it feels iconic and a nod to the history of this great club. We’re looking forward to wearing it at Anfield for the Villa game.”
