“Keeping Tabs” – Journo Says Liverpool Are Scouring The Market Amid Interest In Barella-Esque…

Liverpool could swoop for a highly-rated Atalanta star to help bolster their midfield options…

Another name which became a hot topic on The Redmen TV’s Transfer Insight show with Dan Clubbe and Jack Gallagher was Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. I’ll forgive you for not being able to pronounce his name but the Dutch international has been putting in some stellar performances this season.

Star of the Journo Insight show, Neil Jones from GOAL reported that Koopmeiners would be on his way out of Atalanta at the end of the season, which sparked some interest from the Reds during the January transfer window.

Now, Gallagher, of 90min, confirmed the claims and reiterated Koopmeiners’ likelihood of finding a new club this summer.

He said: “As for sellable assets go, I think he’s probably the most obvious, given his age and profile.”

If the Anfield club are unable to secure the signatures of star-studded names like Alexis MacAllistar, and Mason Mount, then Koopmeiners could be the perfect addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad. Atalanta have been scintillating in front of goal in recent years and the Dutchman has orchestrated much of the good for the Italian side.

Gallagher continued to back the move and was impressed by the Anfield club’s willingness to scour the market this summer.

“I think it’s good to see Liverpool interested in players like that it’s also good the see the diversity of their scouting network, they’ve been keeping tabs on players all around Europe.”

Redmen Reacts

You can’t ignore how good Atalanta have been in recent years. They’ve seemingly come from nowhere to start challenging for Champions League football, battling against some of the big guns in Serie A. They’ve become one of the league’s most fluent scorers, which is a positive sign for Liverpool fans if they were to go ahead with this signing. While he isn’t the world-beating star that all the supporters desire, Koopmeiners – who shares similar traits to the likes of Granit Xhaka, Nicolo Barella and Harvey Elliott (Fbref) – could prove himself to be a hidden gem, something Klopp’s side have found themselves accustomed to unearthing.

‘You could see’: Jurgen Klopp mentions £50m player Liverpool reportedly want to sign after last night’s game

Jurgen Klopp highlighted Joao Palhinha’s importance for Fulham amid reports that Liverpool are interested in signing the 27-year-old midfielder.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Reds’ manager noted how Palhinha controls and organises the midfield for Marco Silva’s side, with the Portuguese international one of the best players on the pitch last night as Liverpool fans were impressed with what they saw from the Fulham star.

Klopp said on the former Sporting Lisbon star’s role for the Cottagers last night: “You could see in the beginning, defending the centre against Fulham is really important because Palhinha is there and that is their connector, get [him] on the ball.”

As reported by the Daily Mail, Palhinha is wanted by Liverpool and could be a prime midfield target for the Anfield side as Klopp looks to overhaul his squad in what could be an incredibly busy summer for the Reds, and the Fulham man’s performance last night certainly raised some eyebrows.

Indeed, with a reported asking price of £50m, Palhinha could be an expensive option for Liverpool. However, given the midfielder’s performance last night and his record-breaking tackle numbers, the 27-year-old could be exactly what the Reds need this summer.

In a game of few chances and incidents, it is only natural that a midfielder was the one to steal the headlines, and Klopp’s words on Palhinha seem to indicate that the Liverpool manager is a fan of the Fulham dynamo, who was once again at his imperious best.

The Portuguese international has been one of the players of the season and is now rightly being linked with a big move to a European club, and for Liverpool, Klopp’s comments last night could be a hint that the German is ready to swoop for the Fulham star this summer.
