Fabrizio Romano reveals Liverpool’s current ‘priority’ in hectic start to summer transfer window

Fabrizio Romano has revealed what Liverpool’s ‘priority’ is in the immediate future as Jurgen Klopp seeks to strengthen his Reds squad ahead of the new campaign.

The Anfield outfit experienced a somewhat dismal season this time around failing to pick up any silverware and missing out on a top four finish for just the second time since the German’s arrival at the club back in 2015.

It therefore means that the former Borussia Dortmund boss is eager to add reinforcements to his squad this summer and Romano has told his official YouTube channel that a move for Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister is currently top of Liverpool’s list.

“The priority of Liverpool is to close the Alexis Mac Allister deal with the final details, but Manu Kone is another name they have on the list,” the Italian said.

The Argentina international has had a terrific campaign for both club and country this term and Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi all but confirmed at the weekend that the midfielder will be plying his trade elsewhere next season.

Football Insider have claimed that a deal for the World Cup winner to move to Merseyside is ‘99% done’ while Romano has also confirmed recently that the transfer wee will be ‘way less than £65/70m’.

As well as us appearing to edge closer to signing Mac Allister it’s also exciting, yet rather hectic, to hear that we’re monitoring other players as well despite the transfer window not officially opening until June 14.

Manu Kone of OGC Nice is one of those while Borussia Monchengladbach’s Khephren Thuram’s agents have also ‘had conversations’ with Liverpool.

Let’s hope we see the former Boca Juniors man in a red shirt sooner rather than later so that we can turn our attention to prizing other top talents to L4 this summer!

“Will cost way less” — Latest update on Liverpool transfer target, plan is to complete a deal…

Fabrizio Romano has provided a promising update on Liverpool’s pursuit of this top priority summer target.

By now, it’s common knowledge that Liverpool are in pole position to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion this summer. The Reds have been front-runners for a while now but it all seems to be finally coming together following the latest update.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Jurgen Klopp and his team are planning to finalise a deal for the 24-year-old next week, which will be a statement signing that will surely set the tone for the rest of Liverpool’s transfer window. The Reds boss is eager to pack out his midfield after struggling in that area during the 2022/23 season.

They have already bid farewell to James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keïta and the future of Fabio Carvalho at Anfield also remains uncertain. This has left a lot of room for Klopp to bring in exciting new playmakers who will help Liverpool challenge at the top again.

Romano has also said that Mac Allister is expected to cost Liverpool ‘way less’ than the initial £65-70 million quoted price tag. This will be a very welcome update for the Merseyside outfit as it will leave funds left over to pursue more midfield targets and potentially new defensive options as well

If, or even when, the deal for Mac Allister comes to fruition, Liverpool will be able to breathe a sigh of relief knowing they have snubbed Manchester United of one of their summer targets. As it stands, Erik ten Hag is set to beat Klopp to signing Mason Mount from Chelsea, who was another priority of the Reds.

The latest reports surrounding Mount’s future claim that the England international has agreed personal terms with United and is likely to be heading to Old Trafford ahead of the new season. This is despite the long-standing interest from Liverpool, who have been keeping tabs on his current situation with Chelsea.
