Done deal Liverpool signed Manchester city target £70m

Liverpool are still in the box seat to sign Alexis Mac Allister despite claims of strong interest from rivals Manchester City.

Alexis Mac Allister looks likely to leave Brighton and Hove Albion – but most likely for Liverpool rather than Manchester City.

Reds fans were getting pretty excited over the weekend.

Argentinian reporter Gaston Edul claimed on Saturday that Mac Allister is ‘going to be a Liverpool player’.

Edul highlighted that Chelsea have been interested too but Mac Allister is heading to Anfield this summer.

That certainly matches up with the recent rumours as Liverpool seek a big addition to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

TyC in Argentina suggest that Liverpool are paying around £70million for Mac Allister, which is a huge outlay for the Brighton star.

This may be just what Liverpool need but the excitement has been in a state of flux over the last 24 hours or so.

The Mirror caused a minor panic by reporting that Manchester City are seeking to hijack Liverpool’s move for Mac Allister.

It was suggested that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Mac Allister and thinks he is perfect to replace Ilkay Gundogan or Bernardo Silva at City.

That report even went on to claim that City were eyeing a double deal for Mac Allister and Brighton teammate Julio Enciso.

Liverpool fans have already had their Jude Bellingham dreams crushed, so seeing Mac Allister join City would have been incredibly difficult to swallow.

However, Fabrizio Romano has come to the rescue for Liverpool supporters.

Romano claims that City aren’t in the race and have held no talks to try and sign Mac Allister this summer.

Romano adds that Liverpool are ‘close’ to agreeing personal terms with Mac Allister with Anfield his destination, not the Etihad Stadium.

We’re inclined to believe Romano here and Liverpool should have their new midfield maestro without a hitch soon enough.
