Liverpool and Chelsea keeping tabs on Belgian ace

Chelsea & Liverpool want Lavia

Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the situation of Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

Lavia joined the Saints from Manchester City for £12.5 million last summer and he has had a productive debut season.

The 19-year-old has been exceptional with his tackling and ability to win duels. He has been touted for a big-club move.

It is now reported by The Times that Liverpool and Chelsea are keeping tabs and could make an approach in the summer.

The Reds recently confirmed that James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita will leave on free transfers.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are braced for the departures of Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer.

Both clubs are likely to invest in their midfield. Lavia would be a superb long-term signing with his immense potential.

The Saints have been relegated from the top-flight but could still demand around £50m for the highly-rated youngster.

Manchester City have the option to re-sign him for £40m but that clause will only become active in the summer of 2024.

Report: ‘Magic’ player’s asking-price has just dropped by £39m, after claims Liverpool could sign him

Reported Liverpool target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could be available for as little as £26m this summer.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who claim that Lazio could cash in on the Serbian with just a year left on his contract. Alternatively, they may keep him for the final year of his deal. The decision will reportedly rest with owner Claudio Lotito.

Should Lotito decide to put Milinkovic-Savic on the market, it’s claimed that the player himself has always fancied a move to Juventus. The suggestion is that if Juve pay the £26m fee, that remains a possiblity.

If not though, the Premier League is said to be the Serbia international’s most likely destination.

To that end, Liverpool and Arsenal were both linked with a move for Milnkovic-Savic back in March. With both on the hunt for midfielders this summer, the Lazio man could prove to be a savvy option.

Milinkovic-Savic finally set for Lazio exit

Ordinarily, Liverpool perhaps wouldn’t look twice at Milinkovic-Savic at this stage of his career. Having turned twenty-eight in February, he can’t be considered a long-term option.

Previously in his career, he may have been. The Serb been one of the most sought after midfielders in the world over the last half-decade.

As recently as October, Lazio were said to be looking for around £65m to sell him, even with limited time remaining on his contract [Calciomercatoweb]. That shows the kind of regard he’s held in.

But having let the years slip by in Rome, he appears to have maybe just missed the boat in terms of playing for a top, top club. A few might even see him as being over the hill by now.

However, in terms of profile and price, he could actually be exactly what Jurgen Klopp needs.

At 6ft 4in tall, Milinkovic is a real presence in the midfield. He can play a variety of roles in the middle of the pitch and is capable of getting up to attack and dropping deeper to defend.

Lazio teammate Ciro Immobile has called Milinkovic ‘magic’ in the past, and at times he has looked to have a wand in his boot. The Serb has vast experience in Serie A, in European competition and as an international. For £26m, he’d absolutely do a job for Liverpool.
