Declan Rice: West Ham rejected   Arsenal offer towards Declan Rice for three reasons open to see

West Ham United have rejected a second bid from Arsenal for England midfielder Declan Rice.

It is understood the Gunners’ latest offer for 24-year-old Rice could have been worth as much as £90m in total to the Hammers.

However, Arsenal were proposing the initial fee was to be £75m, spread over four payments.

West Ham want a larger fee for their captain and a deal that is structured in a better way for them.

The West Ham United Foundation is delighted that our very own Trustee, Jeff Hayes, has been awarded an OBE in the King’s first Birthday Honours list for his services to Charity and the Voluntary Sector.

Jeff spent over 40 years in the City of London in the Fund Management Industry before retiring and using his business and financial expertise to take up several appointments in the voluntary sector, supporting many charities. In December 2019, Jeff joined West Ham United Foundation’s Board of Trustees and has been committed to helping the organisation to develop ever since.

During his time as a Trustee, Jeff has embedded himself into the organisation, providing strategic guidance on the 2020-2024 Business plan, helping us to grow our income and outputs, uniting our community and providing an environment for all to thrive across east London, Essex and globally.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeff was instrumental in supporting our community in a time of global crisis, helping us move quickly to respond to the new and difficult challenges our community were faced with in such an unprecedented time. Jeff’s work included aiding a local food bank and supporting our partners working with refugees and victims of domestic violence.

Having recently attended and supported the Foundation’s annual Golf Day and Dinner, Jeff continues to champion and advocate for the Foundation at every opportunity, and this is a testament to his dedication and selfless approach to making a difference.

West Ham United Foundation’s CEO, Joseph Lyons said: “We’re so proud to see Jeff recognised in the King’s first Birthday Honours list for all of his tireless work and commitment to Charities and the Voluntary Sector. He’s a tremendous Trustee and supporter of all the work we do here at the Foundation, and his guidance is invaluable to helping our vision become a reality.

“On behalf of everyone at the Foundation, I’d like to extend our biggest congratulations to Jeff on this very well-deserved accolade.”
