Manchester City have another test ahead of them before the 2024/25 Premier League season kicks off.

Pep Guardiola’s team will play Manchester United at Wembley Stadium in their most recent Community Shield matchup after returning from their preseason tour of America.

When the two Manchester teams faced off in the FA Cup final at the end of the previous campaign, the Premier League winners were defeated 2-1 by the Red Devils.

Erik ten Hag has provided an injury report ahead of this most recent match that, in our opinion, should worry a lot of United fans.

Erik ten Hag says four Man United defenders are now doubts for Man City showdown.

Ten Hag discussed which players in his team are question marks and might not play versus City during a news conference held on Thursday (via Man United) in advance of the match on Saturday at Wembley.

Harry Maguire was a question mark for Saturday’s match, he claimed, skipping the game as a precaution. We will thus need to assess whether or not he is fit enough to be available after his training.

Although Victor Lindelof performed, both he and Azza [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] are still up for debate. Luke Shaw as well. We need to check in with them tomorrow.

City will be eager to get revenge on United.

It’s not ideal for United to have four more defenders uncertain for tomorrow’s game at Wembley, especially as they also have Tyrell Malacia and Lenny Yoro out with injuries.

From City’s perspective, we believe that Guardiola’s team will only be concerned with themselves and will do all in their power to win before the start of the new league campaign, regardless of which United player will be available.

The fact that United defeated them in the FA Cup final may also be fresh in the thoughts of the City players, adding to their motivation to triumph on Saturday.
