‘We can’t wait’… Curtis Jones admits he’s so excited to see £10m man starting for Liverpool again

After several weeks of managing various parts of his Liverpool squad, Jurgen Klopp was given some good news on the injury front yesterday.

Obviously, reports of Mohamed Salah’s condition will concern the Liverpool manager. But in-between all of that, Andy Robertson has quietly made his return.

Assistant manager Pep Lijnders confirmed yesterday that Robertson is likely to be in the squad for tonight’s game with Fulham. If he plays, it’ll be the 29-year-old’s first outing for the Reds since the 8th of October.

A popular member of the squad, Robbo’s return will delight Liverpool supporters. And speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Curtis Jones has admitted that the players are excited by the news, too.

“He’s a big, big part of our team and always has been, and not only for his football. It’s more his character around the place as well,” said the 22-year-old. “He’s been through a hard time with the injury and how long he’s been out, but every time he’s been around he’s been the exact same lad he is, he always wants to have a laugh, always got a smile on his face with the lads who are doing well.

“And with the young lads who are coming in and playing games – Conor [Bradley], for example – he’s always around them. Con would say himself that when he’s played games and done well he’ll always have a text off him if he’s done well. Same with Harvey [Elliott] and the likes of Cody [Gakpo], Dom [Szoboszlai] who came in. He’s a family man, if you like. It’s really good to see him back and we can’t wait to have him around the team again.”

Robertson ready for return
When any player is out injured for as long as Robertson have been, it’s only natural that his teammates will miss him. It has been almost four months, after all.

But with Robbo, you get the feeling that this is amplified even more. The Scotland captain is one of the most bubbly and excitable personalities in the squad.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
As this recent anecdote from former back-up goalkeeper Andy Lonergan shows, Robertson is always right at the heart of everything.

For more than six years he’s been an absolute constant in that respect. Relentlessly fit, the £10m signing from Hull City has barely missed a game.

As a result, it sounds like the spell out has been hard for Robertson to get his head around. And for his teammates, it must have been weird not to have him there.

The absence of fellow left-back and joker in the pack Kostas Tsimikas will only have exacerbated that, too.

Somehow though, Liverpool have muddled through without their first and second choice left-back. Joe Gomez deserves huge credit for that and no doubt Robertson will have had a few things to say to Joe about his stint on the wrong side.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Robbo’s return does come tonight. If not though, it’s not too far away at all. Welcome back Andy, it’s great to see you fit and well.

‘When you see his name’… Crystal Palace defender says Liverpool have a player he’s so scared of

Mohamed Salah must be one of the worst players to play against in world football.

The winger, quite literally, has it all.

He can beat you with his pace, his strength or his dribbling ability, and once he’s past you, you know that the ball is only ending up in one place – the back of the net.

Indeed, Salah isn’t just one of the fastest and strongest players around, he’s one of the best finishers the Premier League has ever seen too.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Joel Ward has been discussing what it’s like to play against Salah, and he says that he always knows that he’s going to have a tough afternoon when he sees Salah’s name on the teamsheet.

Ward says Salah scares him
The defender spoke about the Liverpool star.

“I think he record speaks for itself and when you see his name on the teamsheet you know you’re in for a tough afternoon,” Ward said.

“You know, Mo Salah is a huge player for them and will continue to be so and I’m sure he’ll be back in the right place when he’s called upon.”

Frightening
We can absolutely understand why Ward is scared of Salah.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Could you imagine how difficult it must be to defend against Liverpool as a full-back?

Not only do you have Salah running at you, you also have Trent Alexander-Arnold just behind him waiting to create something special himself.

Alexander-Arnold and Salah may well be the most frightening double team in Premier League history, and we certainly don’t envy any defender who has ever been tasked with stopping these two.

Salah is out for a few weeks now with a hamstring injury, but unfortunately for Ward, it doesn’t look as though the winger will miss the Reds’ next game against Crystal Palace and it could be another long afternoon for the Eagles.

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be interested in signing Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, even after securing the services of Radu Dragusin earlier this month.

According to a report from Telefoot, Spurs remain interested in signing Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo and have ‘held talks’ with the player’s entourage.

The report says that the Lilywhites are not the only club engaged in discussions with the player’s representatives. Chelsea and Napoli are also among the clubs reported to have held talks.

It adds that the French club are not at all interested in letting him go this month but if he maintains his strong performances, he could ‘become the biggest sale’ in Nice’s history.

Known for his defensive prowess, Todibo has emerged as one of the top defenders in European football, delivering standout performances for OGC Nice.

With a reported €60 million price tag, Nice has set a substantial valuation for Todibo, suggesting that any English club pursuing him would need to make a significant investment.

TBH Says:

Todibo undoubtedly possesses the qualities to excel in the Premier League, potentially justifying the long-term investment.

But It will be interesting to see whether Spurs pay big money to sign the highly-rated defender, considering they just spent close to €30m on Radu Dragusin.
