Trusted source brands Liverpool done deal talk wide of mark as £69million move requires work
Trusted journalist Andy Naylor has suggested reports of a Liverpool deal for Alexis Mac Allister being advanced are “all news” to Brighton.
It seems almost certain that Mac Allister future will lie away from the AMEX. He’s shown he is more than capable of impacting a team at the top end of the table.
The Seagulls have secured Europa League football for next season and Mac Allister has had his best season to date.
Indeed, the Argentine has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season – the most of a Brighton player – as well as 10 in the Premier League.
He’s been a driving force in the Seagulls’ rise up the league. He was effective last season, when they finished ninth, and has only become more influential to their sixth-placed finish this term.
However, the AMEX has become something of a breeding ground for talent, before bigger sides snatch their stars.
With a lot of the Premier League’s big hitters having been linked, it seems that’s the way things are going to go with Mac Allister. Liverpool have emerged as the frontrunners, with multiple reports suggesting their talks over a transfer are advanced.
One outlet in Argentina, TyC Sports, has even stated the Reds have agreed a deal worth £69.4million for the Brighton star.
Mac Allister deal reports ‘all news’ to Brighton
However, that a Liverpool deal for Mac Allister is even advanced has been disputed by trusted journalist Naylor.
“I’m aware of more reports from Argentina and others in recent days, a timetable, deal nearly done etc,” he said on Twitter.
“It’s all news to the club he plays for and has deep respect for.”
Indeed, that’s obviously quite the discrepancy from reports a deal between the two clubs has been agreed. A further report to the previous regarding terms between the sides, also by TyC Sports, suggested personal terms were to be discussed soon.
However, Naylor has stated no talks between Brighton and Liverpool have happened at all.
“It may turn out that way, but no contact from Liverpool as things stand,” he added.
Of course, even if personal terms are agreed, the transfer won’t happen unless Liverpool agree a fee with Brighton.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if that was soon to happen. The Reds seem very keen on snaring Mac Allister judging by previous reports, especially with three midfielders leaving in the summer.
Naylor’s admission that it may turn out that way seems to be on the right track, even if no contact has been made between the two sides as yet.

Liverpool hoping to complete three new signings in first weeks of transfer window
Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is expected to miss out on a farewell appearance against Southampton on Sunday due to injury.
The Guinea international will leave the club this summer when his contract expires, but he won’t be able to make one final appearance for the Reds as a muscle injury has ruled him out of the game, according to Football Insider,
Keita is one of four players – along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Roberto Firmino – who will depart Anfield this summer, but it now appears that the Reds are hoping to sign replacements quickly.
According to Football Insider, those in charge of the club are hoping to complete three signings by the end of June.
The report claims that Liverpool are focussing on signing central midfielders, as well as a right-back and a centre-back.
With midfielders Milner, Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain all leaving, manager Jurgen Klopp will be keen to bolster his options.
Milner is one of four players that will leave Liverpool as free agents this summer
The report suggests that Liverpool will try to sign a number of central midfielders that will be able to slot straight into Klopp’s side.
Brighton and Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister is said to be one of Liverpool’s prime targets, although the likes of Jude Bellingham and Manuel Ugarte have also been linked with the club.
Milner, 37, had often deputised at right-back when Trent Alexander-Arnold was unavailable, and Klopp is therefore keen to add another right-sided full-back to his squad this summer.
A new central defender is also a high priority, as Klopp looks to sign a centre-back to provide competition for the likes of Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip.
It is also claimed that Liverpool could look to sign a new goalkeeper if Irishman Caoimhin Kelleher leaves the club.
The ‘keeper has played a bit-part role for the Reds with Alisson very much the club’s first choice, and Kelleher could therefore push for a move away from Merseyside.
