Transfer news: Liverpool make £50m breakthrough for premier league star as Personal terms agreed with Jurgen Klopp keen to secure signing after Fabinho exit
Liverpool are lining up a double swoop for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia and Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure.

The Sun repoit Jurgen Klopp wants both midfielders this summer – and reckons he can get them for £80million.

That might prove tricky, considering the Saints have slapped a £50million price tag on Lavia’s head, and the Daily Mail reporting the Eagles want £70million for Doucoure.

Klopp will need to spend big to replace two big stars at Anfield this summer, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to leave the club.

The Reds were already light in midfield anyway following the departures of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Diaby ‘wanted Arsenal move’
Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen – but it has been claimed he wanted Arsenal instead.

Villa are splashing more than £50million on the winger who scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists last term in the Bundesliga.

Germany-based journalist Christian Falk reports that he had hoped the Gunners or Newcastle United would come in for him, though.

He is now set to join Unai Emery’s side in the coming days.

Falk wrote: “Moussa Diaby was always dreaming of the Premier League and he dreamed of playing for a Champions League club.

“He hoped for Arsenal, he hoped for Newcastle but both clubs haven’t become concrete until now.

“The negotiations are very close with Aston Villa. We think he won’t play Leverkusen’s upcoming match against Paderborn on Friday so he won’t get injured.

“It’s going very quick now and they don’t think he’ll join the team when they go to the training camp on Sunday. Aston Villa will pay €55million plus €5million (£47.6million+£4.3million) in add-ons.”

“I love Liverpool and would play for them!” – Liverpool receive major transfer boost as they are free to sign “sensational” £50m Bayern Munich superstar which may change Jurgen Klopp plans
Joshua Kimmich has already given his verdict on Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool amid transfer rumours

Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich spoke highly of Jurgen Klopp when the two last met

With fresh reports suggesting that Joshua Kimmich’s position at Bayern Munich is not as strong at first thought, he could be a candidate to plug a huge gap in Liverpool’s midfield.

Since swapping RB Leipzig for Bayern in 2015, the German international has been the serial winner of eight Bundesliga titles, three domestic cups and one Champions League trophy.

That, partnered with his versatility to slot into defence or midfield, have made him into one of Europe’s most reliable players.

One as established as Kimmich does not fit into the typical blueprint of Liverpool targets, but desperate times call for desperate measures as a cloud of uncertainty remains over Fabinho and Jordan Henderson’s futures.

The Reds would not get away with replacing experience within the squad outright this summer, and as his employers have changed stance and are reportedly now ready to listen to offers, the arrival of the 28-year-old would be one of the twists of the summer.

Although both have hailed from Germany, Jurgen Klopp has not had the chance to work with his countryman.

The Reds manager of course departed Borussia Dortmund at the end of the 2014/15 campaign, a time when Kimmich had only been playing regular first team football for Leipzig for two years prior to their top-flight promotion.

That meant the first they were in opposing dugouts was in 2019, when Liverpool were drawn against Bayern Munich in the Champions League round-of-16.

Kimmich would of course been team-mates in Robert Lewandowski and Mats Hummels that had previously worked under Klopp, but still, with no experience of his own, the defender waxed lyrical about the Liverpool boss in the build-up to the tie.

“It’s amazing how emotional he is, on the field, with the fans,” the Bayern star told the Independent.

“You can see how he pushes his players – he can push them to another level. Every player is better with this coach.

“When you see their style of playing, they have a really good defence, and their offensive line is also amazing. They have a lot of speed, they have players who are tough in the duels. It won’t be easy to fight against them. Jurgen Klopp did great work over there.”

Although there is nothing concrete to suggest Klopp would be the one to bring Kimmich to the Premier League, there are two factors to consider.

Firstly, it has been done before. Thiago Alcantara made the move from Bavaria to Merseyside three years ago now, and has proven there is a route into the Liverpool starting line-up for established midfielders.
