Mohamed Salah will begin his build-up to this weekend’s clash with English Premier League title rivals Manchester City with minutes in the Europa League against Sparta Prague after recovering from injury.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits the Egypt international would not normally be in the squad after only returning to training on Tuesday (Wednesday AEDT).

However, he said the current injury situation – there are at least nine first-team players absent – and the context of the season means Salah travelled with the squad.

And with the weekend’s Premier League encounter against City looming large, the 31-year-old – who has played just 46 minutes in one substitute appearance against Brentford since leaving the Africa Cup of Nations early with a hamstring injury on January 18 – will get a chance to shake off the rust.

“He is with us and has trained two days, he is full of energy. It is so good that he is back. It is really good and you can see he is happy,” Klopp said ahead of the last-16 first-leg tie on Thursday (Friday AEDT).

“It’s an unusual situation being that long out and then came back against Brentford, played an incredible game and was then out again.

The Game AFL 2024
“Two days in team training: in a different situation players are not in the squad in this moment, but now the situation makes sense.

“We want to be careful, we have to be careful, but we’re in the middle of a super-intense period of the season and we need everyone.

“So let’s see how long we can use him.”

In on-field action, Gianluca Scamacca scored for Atalanta in a 1-1 draw at Sporting Lisbon in the first leg of their Europa League round-of-16 on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT).

Paulinho put the hosts ahead after collecting a through ball early in the first half, before Scamacca cancelled it out from the edge of the area in the 39th minute.

The return leg will be played in Italy on March 14.

All the other first-leg games in the second-tier competition are scheduled for Thursday (Friday AEDT).

Alexis Mac Allister has lifted the lid on his connection with Liverpool team-mate Darwin Nunez as he reflected on a “crazy” few years in his career.

Mac Allister has struck up a close bond with his fellow South American since arriving at Anfield last summer, with their link-up on the pitch evident when he assisted Nunez’s dramatic late decider in the 1-0 Premier League win at Nottingham Forest last weekend.

The Argentina World Cup winner, who also set up a goal for Nunez against West Ham United earlier in the campaign, has prospered since being pushed into a more advanced midfield position in recent weeks.

And Mac Allister, speaking on Wednesday in Czechia ahead of Liverpool’s Europa League round of 16 first leg against Sparta Prague, said: “My relationship with Darwin is very good. Of course, since the first time we met you could see the connection between us off the pitch. On the pitch of course we try to be connected.

“When I play as an eight that connection has to be important, and he is an amazing guy. He is doing very well and works very hard and that’s why I’m very happy for him. Sometimes I hear people saying that I help him a lot but that’s not true. His level is because he trains very well, he works very hard and that’s why he is scoring goals and that’s why he is important for this team.”

Asked how he managed to stay calm when assisting Nunez during such a frantic finish last weekend, Mac Allister said: “I don’t know, I just play football. That’s what I like.

“I have played football for a long time even though I’m still young. The experience helps definitely and for me it’s important to think on the pitch. You have to see where your team-mates are and once you have the ball you have to try and make the best decision you can. That’s what I try. I don’t know if I look calm or not, but I can tell you my brain is at 200%!”

Mac Allister, who spent more than three years at Brighton before moving to Liverpool for £35million last June, added: “The last couple of years have been crazy for me and tough at the same time. I went through difficult times and even at that time I really believed in myself. It was very important to have my family around as well.

“Then of course I won a World Cup, that is not easy and that’s something I feel very proud of. Now I am living my life at a club like Liverpool, it’s amazing. Every player and every person has to go through good and bad moments, now I am at a time when I am really enjoying my life, so I’m very, very happy with my career so far and I am enjoying it.”

Mac Allister could line up on Thursday alongside fellow summer midfield recruit Dominik Szoboszlai for only the second time in more than three months, with the 25-year-old braced for a battle against Czech champions Sparta, who again lead their domestic league.

“He is an amazing player, a nice lad as well,” said the Argentina international of Szoboszlai. “He is doing very well. He had an injury but we cannot forget what he brings to the team. He is definitely as important as every player in this team and a special guy.

“We expect a very tough game. We know they (Sparta) are unbeaten at home and top of the league, that tells you they are a very good team. We have seen some videos and know what they do. But we need to focus on ourselves. If we focus on ourselves then we have a chance to win the game and that’s what we want. But they are definitely a very good team and it will be a great battle.”

Manchester City have been delivered another injury blow after winger Jeremy Doku missed their opening training session ahead of their Champions League game against FC Copenhagen this evening. Doku played just under an hour during City’s 3-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday but was not seen in their open training session ahead of their Champions League Round of 16 match – putting his involvement in both that match and their crunch clash against Liverpool at the weekend in doubt.

The Citizens are the current Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League holders and are still active in all three competitions as they look to retain their treble. The only side to knock City out of any competition this season was Newcastle United who beat them in the Carabao Cup back in September.

The Magpies, though, will be without Kieran Trippier for the foreseeable future with the Three Lions man likely to miss Monday’s clash against Chelsea and the trip to the Etihad Stadium. Trippier picked up a calf injury during the win over Wolves at the weekend and was replaced by Tino Livramento in the second period – the 21-year-old would go on to score his first ever Newcastle United goal.

Mohamed Salah says his fully back from injury to face Manchester City, Legend is back with full Force…

CEO admits 44-year-old manager could leave after claims Liverpool have been in contact

There has been an update on Roberto De Zerbi amid talk of Liverpool making contact to check on the 44-year-old.

It was Paul Barber – Chief Executive Officer of Brighton – who provided the update.

So, what is the latest on Roberto De Zerbi for Liverpool fans to digest? Let’s take a look…

Roberto De Zerbi update
Well – according to the Guardian – Liverpool have made enquires about the Italian as Fenway Sports Group (FSG) attempt to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool have shortlisted De Zerbi and made checks to see if he would be interested in the upcoming vacancy, although Xabi Alonso is believed to be the No.1 target.

Now, Barber has conceded that the man from Brescia could leave Brighton.

The CEO of Brighton told The Athletic: “We don’t want to lose De Zerbi, he’s one of the best in the world. Roberto loves Brighton and all people involved here, but at some point in the future he may choose to take that skill base that he has elsewhere.”

De Zerbi currently has Brighton sat ninth in the Premier League – with a UEFA Europa League Round of 16 clash against Roma also on the horizon.

No surprise Liverpool admire Roberto De Zerbi
Since De Zerbi replaced Graham Potter at Brighton, he has caused Liverpool plenty of problems.

The Italian has gone up against Klopp on four occasions, and has actually never lost to the German.

De Zerbi has overseen two wins and two draws from these four outings, so it is no surprise that FSG are impressed by his managerial qualities.

Even Klopp himself has hailed his potential replacement, when describing Brighton as the best coached team in the Premier League back in October 2023.

The 56-year-old was quoted by the Guardian as saying: “Incredible football. We expect a really tough game against the best coached team in the league, I would say, because of where they are coming from.

“Graham (Potter) did a lot of good stuff and that is a really smart move from Potter to De Zerbi and they made really big steps: super consistent, different formations, different players, lineups and you always see Brighton football and I couldn’t respect that more.”

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as De Zerbi remains an option for Liverpool.

It’s looking a wonderful day at the AXA training centre – and not just because of the weather.

Caoimhin Kelleher – despite the wild (and thankfully wide of the mark) rumours of his injury online – and Mo Salah were both spotted taking part in Liverpool team training.

This comes ahead of the Reds’ trip to Czech Republic in midweek to face Sparta Prague in the last 16 of the Europa League.

It’s a huge injury boost for the club, particularly with Manchester City’s upcoming league visit in mind at the weekend!

Virgil van Dijk is known for his distinctive hair but he’s made a change that’s more drastic than we’ve seen from him in the past.

In an image uploaded to X, it appears that our captain has had a haircut which makes him look quite similar to Darwin Nunez.

‘Incredible’ manager decides he doesn’t want to take over at Liverpool for family reasons
Wed 6 March 2024 10:30

Liverpool appear to be no further down the line in sorting out a replacement for Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp is set to leave the club this summer after almost nine years of glorious stewardship. As succeeding him goes, it’s a big old job for someone.

Ever since Jurgen’s announcement towards the end of January, Xabi Alonso has been seen as the most likely candidate to take over. But with Alonso hurtling towards the business end of a super season with Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich also interested, there’s been no movement on that front. Not publicly at least.

As a result, other names are having to be considered, too. One of which, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, is Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi.

Like Alonso, Inzaghi is also having a tremendous season. With Inter well clear at the top of the Serie A table and also going well in the Champions League, the 47-year-old is said to have been ‘added to Liverpool’s list.’

Inzaghi is reportedly aware of the Reds’ interest and also apparently ‘doesn’t mind it.’ However, the Italian coach is claimed to have little desire to take over at Anfield. For ‘family reasons and for sporting ambitions,’ Inzaghi is said to be keen to continue his project in Milan.

Inzaghi not interested in Liverpool post
As Liverpool’s search continues, there is a danger that we become blasé about coaches who aren’t called Xabi Alonso.

Such is the groundswell of support to see Xabi come back home to Anfield, any other candidate would feel like something of a disappointment. In Inzaghi’s case, that feeling would certainly be there for some.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Nevertheless, the former Lazio midfielder would surely be a solid appointment for Liverpool.

Over five years as Lazio manager, Inzaghi helped turn the club from Rome into a genuine force in Italian football once again. He won them their first major silverware since 2013 with a Coppa Italia win in 2019.

And having since joined Inter in 2021, Inzaghi has continued his theme of being a man for the cups. The San Siro side have won the Coppa in both of his seasons in charge so far. Although they won’t make that a third this season.

Simone Inzaghi
Inzaghi also memorably guided his team to last year’s Champions League final, losing out to Manchester City.

All of this paints the picture of a manager who is growing all the time while adding bits of success here and there. 15 points clear at the top of the league, Inzaghi will surely secure a first league title for his collection this May.

From there, he does look primed to kick on. Brother Pippo Inzaghi has referred to Simone as being an ‘incredible’ manager [FourFourTwo] and further success looks inevitable for him.

At some stage, perhaps that will include making the step abroad. But for now, Inzaghi looks keen to carry on at Inter. Given the way things are going there, you can’t blame him for that. Providing the right candidate is brought in, Liverpool won’t lose too much sleep over it.

Liverpool will be hoping to get more players back to full fitness as they prepare for another huge week in their season.

The Reds’ ambitions of winning four trophies continues – largely down to the youngsters in their squad. They claimed the Carabao Cup after beating Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley last month before they moved into the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 3-0 triumph over Southampton.

And Jurgen Klopp’s grip at the top of the Premier League table remains intact. Liverpool required a 99th-minute goal from Darwin Nunez, making his return from injury, to earn a dramatic 1-0 victory at Nottingham Forest. Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo also came back to full fitness at the City Ground.

Liverpool’s quest to win the Europa League recommences when they travel to Sparta Prague on Thursday in the last 16 first leg. Then the Reds have a potential Premier League title decider when Manchester City, a point behind in the table, visit Anfield on Sunday.

While Klopp’s injury crisis has eased somewhat, the number of players on the treatment table is lengthier than he would like. Ahead of this week’s double-header, here’s a look at the current injury list and if anyone could make a return to action.

Mo Salah – hamstring
Liverpool’s talisman has played just twice for the club in 2024. After suffering his issue representing Egypt at AFCON, Salah made a goalscoring return in the Reds’ 4-1 win at Brentford last month. However, his outing came at a cost and he hasn’t featured since. Klopp admitted the 31-year-old is getting closer to being available again and Liverpool won’t want Salah to break down for a third time.

Potential return game: Sparta Prague (A), Thurs 7 March or Man City (H), Sun 10 March.

Ryan Gravenberch – ankle
The midfielder had to be stretchered off in the first half of the Carabao Cup final with ligament damage. Gravenberch’s issue wasn’t as serious as first feared, however, and he’ll continue to be assessed.

Potential return game: Sparta Prague (A), Thurs 7 March or Man City (H), Sun 10 March.

Curtis Jones – ankle
The homegrown midfielder also had ligament damage at Brentford but his issue seems more severe. Assistant manager Pep Lijnders admitted Jones could be back around the time of the international break later this month.

Potential return game: Man Utd (A), Sun 17 March or Brighton (H), Sun 31 March.

Stefan Bajcetic – other
The 19-year-old midfielder has played just twice this season because of a problem related to his body’s growth and Liverpool have been cautious. Bajcetic is back training on the grass and is awaiting the green light to be reintegrated with his team-mates. He will likely need some weeks to build up fitness and strength.

Potential return game: Brighton (H), Sun 31 March.

Alisson Becker – hamstring
The No.1 goalkeeper as a ‘serious’ injury although there is hope that he will be back before the season’s end.

Potential return game: N/A

Trent Alexander-Arnold – knee
The Liverpool vice-captain isn’t expected to make a return to action before the international break. Much will depend on how his issue reacts.

Potential return game: April

Diogo Jota – knee
Advertisement

The versatile forward had to be stretchered off at Brentford and was ruled out of action for a couple of months. Reports in Jota’s native Portugal suggest he will be back available for the end of the season.

Potential return game: N/A

Joel Matip – knee
It’s been three months since the centre-back picked up ACL injury in a 4-3 win over Fulham. Matip has been removed from Liverpool’s Europa League squad for the last 16 and that suggests he’s not close to a return.

Potential return game: N/A

Thiago Alcantara – hip
The midfielder has been limited to a solitary outing this season because of his ongoing problem. There is no time frame on when he might be back, although Klopp does not know if Thiago will play again this term.

Potential return game: N/A

Liverpool named as possible mystery bidder preparing huge Barella offer
BY
HENRY JACKSON
PUBLISHED 1 HOUR AGO
Jurgen Klopp loves him as a player.

nicolo-barella-inter-milan
Liverpool are reportedly one of two clubs who could be the mystery suitor behind a huge offer which is about to arrive for a “top-class” player who Jurgen Klopp loves, according to reports in Italy.

Liverpool transfer news
The Reds completely rebuilt their midfield last summer, following some massive struggles in that area throughout the 2022/23 season, with Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all making a big difference.

Klopp may be moving on as manager at the end of the season, but whoever comes in will surely be looking at making further additions to the squad, bringing in his own players and ensuring fresh legs with long-term potential arrive.

Pedro-Neto-Wolves-FA-Cup
One player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window is Pedro Neto, who is once again standing out as arguably Wolves’ most influential player this season. He has nine assists in the Premier League in 2023/24 to date, and only Pascal Gross, Kieran Trippier and Ollie Watkins (all 10) have more to their name in the competition this season.

Palmeiras teenage gem Luis Guilherme is seen as another option for the Reds, being considered a player with long-term potential, and highly-rated Leeds United starlet Archie Gray is also being considered a hugely exciting candidate to add to the squad.

Liverpool named as possible mystery bidder
According to Il Secolo XIX [via Sport Witness], Liverpool are interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella this summer, with the Reds possibly the mystery bidder preparing to “submit” an offer for him. They say a “major Premier League club” is about to put big money on the table, with the Reds and Manchester City name-checked as the likely two options.

The 27-year-old isn’t out of contract at the Serie A giants until the summer of 2026, so only a huge amount of money is likely to have a chance of prising him away.

nicolo-barella-inter-milan-arsenal-transfer-gossip-edu-arteta-thomas-partey
Liverpool should definitely be looking at Barella as a strong summer transfer target if they aren’t indeed the one bidding, with the Italian arguably one of Europe’s most complete midfielders for a number of years now. In fact, Klopp has admitted in the past that he is a big admirer.

“He’s a really good player, a really good player and I like him a lot. He has all the things you want from a midfield player: he is aggressive, he is technical, he can run for ages and all these kinds of things. That’s a top-class player.”

At 27, Barella is right at the peak of his powers, possessing both a lot of experience but also time to improve further as a player, and he was a key part of Italy’s Euro 2020 success, starting six of his country’s seven matches en route to glory.

The one argument to make is whether Liverpool need another midfielder, considering how well-stocked they are, but assuming Thiago moves on when his contract runs out this summer, the Inter star could be a brilliant replacement.

Liverpool youngster Luca Furnell-Gill is serving a lengthy suspension after admitting a disciplinary charge following the controversial clash with Manchester United earlier this year.

Furnell-Gill was banned for five games by the Football Association after accepting the claim of violent conduct during the Under-18 Premier League North match at United’s Carrington training base on January 30.

The 17-year-old defender was caught on camera involved in an ongoing spat with Manchester United forward Ethan Wheatley during the second half of the game, which Liverpool lost 4-3.

The Liverpool youngster was seen turning to aim a punch towards Wheatley as he chased opposing player Ethan Williams in the build-up to United’s second goal, and later clashed with the same player and aimed an elbow during the altercation. Both players were spoken to by the referee but ultimately went unpunished.

Liverpool subsequently addressed the matter internally, and the ECHO understands the player was extremely contrite after the game and that Academy director Alex Inglethorpe contacted Manchester United counterparts the morning after the game to apologise.

Furnell-Gill hasn’t played since the United game, after which the Reds have had four matches including the FA Youth Cup win over Fulham and exit from the competition at Leeds United last weekend.

He joined Liverpool from Preston North End at U15 level and made his U18s debut as an U16 player last season, and is presently a first-year scholar with the U18 squad.

Bobby Clark reflected on a perfect end to his first Premier League start after Liverpool’s dramatic late victory over Nottingham Forest.

Darwin Nunez headed home a 99th-minute goal at the City Ground on Saturday – delivering a 1-0 win, maintaining the Reds’ place at the top of the table and sparking wild scenes of celebration among the travelling supporters.

For Clark the day was extra-special, with the 19-year-old handed the first league start of his professional career by Jürgen Klopp.

The midfielder featured for an hour before being replaced by Wataru Endo, and afterwards he spoke to Liverpoolfc.com about his pride and emotion.

“Oh, a great way for it to end!” said Clark. “Obviously I was grateful to get my first Premier League start.

“When I came off, obviously things were out of my control. But I knew that something was coming and [to do that] late was top!”

He continued: “It’s mad but I always had the feeling we were going to do something with the top players we’ve got in the front of the pitch, and Alexis [Mac Allister] with the calmness at the end and Darwin putting it in, it was top!”

VIEW PROFILE
Clark had previously started Liverpool’s Emirates FA Cup fifth-round win over Southampton at Anfield last Wednesday, and was one of seven players to retain their place in Klopp’s XI for the trip to Forest.

“It was [Friday] in training when we were doing our work for the game,” he said, when asked when he had found out he was starting again.

“I was decent but I thought I could have done a lot more in what I know I can do, but it was alright.”

Liverpool’s young players have been front and centre in recent weeks, with the likes of Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas and James McConnell also attracting attention with their impressive showings at senior level.

Having followed up his own impact in the Carabao Cup final with outings in the FA Cup and now the league, England youth international Clark says he is enjoying the challenge of adapting to life at the top level.

“It all comes from the gaffer and all the players,” he said. “They fill you with confidence and they let you do your thing, so it comes from there.

“That’s the main thing. If you don’t have a manager like that, it’s going to be much harder. Whenever I’m coming on or starting, he just lets me do my thing and fills me with confidence.”

Liverpool caught cold as Bayern Munich near huge coup with five-year offer to be accepted
Steve Pearson 1 hour ago
Schalke starlet Assan Ouedraogo
Bayern Munich look to have beaten Liverpool to the punch

Bayern Munich have caught Liverpool napping, with a report claiming the German giants are primed to see a five-year contract offer accepted.

Bayern Munich and Liverpool are both entrenched in the race to appoint Xabi Alonso as their next manager. Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp will leave their respective posts at the end of the season. It’s been speculated Tuchel could be given his marching orders early if Bayern fail to advance past Lazio in the Champions League Round of 16.

At present, the signs point towards Liverpool being the ones to secure an agreement for Alonso.

TEAMtalk has learned a three-year contract offer is on the table and initial talks between the Reds and Alonso’s camp have been positive.

Furthermore, Sky Germany revealed Alonso has a ‘verbal promise’ with Bayer Leverkusen. The in-house agreement relates to Alonso having permission to leave the club THIS SUMMER if a suitable offer is lodged.

Sky Germany claimed that in the absence of a release clause, Liverpool must fork out a fee in the region of €15m-€25m to prise Alonso out of Leverkusen.

But while Liverpool look set to beat Bayern to Alonso, journalist Rudy Galetti claims it’s Bayern who’ll sink Liverpool when it comes to a key transfer target.

Klopp to be denied final transfer wish?
Back in October German reporter Florian Plettenberg confirmed Liverpool were sizing up Schalke sensation, Assan Ouedraogo.

The 17-year-old has burst onto the scene in the Bundesliga 2 this season and is a regular for Germany at Under-17 level.

Ouedraogo is a classy and powerful central midfielder and owing to his 6ft 4in height, has drawn early comparisons to Paul Pogba.

Pogba’s late-career decline and subsequent four-year ban for doping have left a stain on the Frenchman’s name.

However, it’s important to remember Pogba was among the world’s leading central midfielders during the early part of his career at Juventus and was a guaranteed starter for a hugely successful France side.

“Liverpool and especially Jurgen Klopp is monitoring the development of Assan Ouedraogo,” the Sky Deutschland reporter revealed in October.

“The 17 y/o versatile midfielder from Schalke has a release clause in 2024. Clubs from abroad have to pay around €20m (£17m).”

But according to Galetti on Monday, it’s Bayern Munich who’ll be the ones to snap up Ouedraogo.

Bayern nip in for German Pogba
Taking to X, Galetti stated: “Bayern are advancing in talks with Ouedraogo.

“The Schalke central midfielder – whose contract expires in 2027 – received a five-year proposal from Bayern and seems inclined to accept.

“RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt are still interested in him, while no concrete move from Liverpool so far.”

Why Liverpool have not made their move was not made clear. It may be that the Reds no longer hold serious interest in the player.

Alternatively, the impending exit of Klopp – who Plettenberg suggested was the driving force behind Liverpool’s interest – could be a factor.

Nonetheless, unless Liverpool act quickly, it appears Ouedraogo will be heading to Munich.

Liverpool CEO takes up new role with FSG – hints at new club appointment
March 4, 2024
Joanna Durkan
Liverpool are undergoing significant changes not only in the backroom but in the club’s hierarchy, with CEO, Billy Hogan, the latest to see his role altered at top level.

The club finds itself needing a new sporting director, manager and backroom staff all within the space of a few months, with a lot hinging on owners FSG making the right appointments.

And despite the season of change the club already finds itself in, last week, Hogan, CEO of Liverpool FC, was named CEO of FSG International.

The announcement came during FSG’s owners’ meeting, with Hogan to oversee the management of FSG’s entire enterprise, which is continuing to grow across various sports around the world.

A statement from FSG on Hogan’s promotion said: “This moment in FSG’s expansion marks a fitting occasion to formalise our leadership structure, recognising the ongoing contributions and responsibilities shouldered by Sam [Kennedy, Red Sox CEO] and Billy across our entire portfolio.”

SINGAPORE – Friday, July 28, 2023: Liverpool’s Chief Executive Officer Billy Hogan during a LFC Foundation and Special Olympics Asia event at the Tanglin Trust School ahead of the Singapore Festival of Football pre-season tournament. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)
“We know our people are our greatest asset, and in Sam and Billy, we have two of the most accomplished executives in the industry whose enduring contributions stand out even more as original hires by FSG over two decades ago.”

It has been suggested that the promotion will not impact Hogan’s day-to-day role at Liverpool, but it will to a certain extent considering how vast FSG’s portfolio is becoming.

The change follows Liverpool’s attempt to lure former sporting director Michael Edwards back to Merseyside, with a restructuring of the club on the cards as he seeks greater control.

In a report from the Times‘ Paul Joyce, Edwards would “seek total control of football operations at Liverpool in order to consider coming back to Anfield less than two years after his departure.”

Edwards, if he came back in that position, would effectively take on the role of FSG president Michael Gordon, who is heavily involved in the running of the club, and could lessen some of Hogan’s responsibilities.

It is no wonder, then, that Liverpool continue to push for Edwards’ return, as the transfer guru already knows the club inside out and a restructuring of the club and FSG as a whole makes this the ideal time to see him assume more power.

Nevertheless, Hogan’s promotion, the pursuit of Edwards and Klopp’s departure ensures this a significant period for a club that is soon to be in a period of transition, something they have not had to encounter for nearly nine years.

Fabrizio Romano thinks £79m player will leave after Liverpool started tracking him
Mon 4 March 2024 10:30
Bence Bocsak
Liverpool may have no sporting director, nor a new manager for the the summer yet. However, that doesn’t mean that the club’s recruitment team is sitting around idle. The Reds will already be tracking potential candidates, and seeking out prospective signings for the summer transfer window.

One area where Liverpool could be looking to strengthen is in attack. This season has shown that while Liverpool have some exciting attackers, the Reds could probably do with another option in attack.

All five first team offensive players have been out injured at some point this season. This has meant even midfielders like Harvey Elliott and Dominik Szoboszlai have been forced to play in the front three at certain points during the campaign.

Having another option in there could give Liverpool a much needed extra boost in attack. The kind of boost that could help the Reds propel forward again next season. And according to Fabrizio Romano, there is one player on Liverpool’s radar, who is considering leaving his current club this summer.

Pedro Neto latest
Pedro Neto has previously been linked with a £79m move to Liverpool. And now Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the player is looking to leave Wolves at the end of the season.

“Wolves have not communicated any price tag for Pedro Neto but the feeling, speaking to sources, is that in the summer he is expected to join a very important club,” Romano said on the Here We Go podcast.

“He has been on the list of many clubs in recent years, a few years ago he was really appreciated by Arsenal, and then Liverpool and also other clubs started following him.”

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Neto is a fantastic player, who really suits Liverpool’s style of play. His explosive speed can hurt any opponent, and there is no question he would be a huge boost for the Reds. However, the question will be just how much Wolves will want for his services.

The Reds will not want to overspend, and it seems like Wolves will be looking to hold out for a pretty hefty fee. If that will be the case, we can see Liverpool turning elsewhere.

Nottingham Forest fans were understandably upset after watching their side give away a late goal against Liverpool but their treatment of one young fan was disgusting.

As the full-time whistle blew, the fume from the home supporters behind our bench was toxic and it soon became clear that a young Red and his mother were in among it all.

This led to Andy Robertson and several members of our coaching staff collecting the youngster and taking him to safety.

Being upset after conceding a goal is understandable but there’s no reason to treat anyone like this, especially someone so young.
