Real Madrid currently boasts one of the finest young squads in the world. With most positions on the field having a long-term fix ready, the club is destined for greatness.

The only missing piece in the puzzle, arguably, is the absence of a big-name finisher.

Real Madrid have actively been following both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland on that front, although both plans are still speculative.

Romano downs Haaland talks
Earlier this month, there were talks of Real Madrid stepping out of the race for PSG’s Mbappe.

The French striker has repeatedly rejected Los Blancos’ advances, after all, and the talks of a possible renewal with PSG did not go down well in Spain.

Reports thus stated that the club’s priority would now be Manchester City sensation Erling Haaland.

According to an update from Fabrizio Romano, there is nothing concrete between the Norweigan international and Real Madrid in terms of transfer talks. The situation is quiet on Haaland’s side.

The reliable Italian journalist further adds that Haaland’s agent being at Santiago Bernabeu in the team’s win over Braga had nothing to do with the Premier League ace’s transfer.

Rafaela Pimenta, Haaland’s agent, also represents other upcoming players in Europe and was discussing their potential arrival with the Spanish giants. One such name she represents is Marcos Leonardo of Santos.

An unreal force
Real Madrid and Manchester City were the final two clubs left in contention for Haaland’s signature in July 2022 after the long-drawn transfer saga.

The player, however, opted to join Pep Guardiola’s side and has tasted UEFA Champions League glory with them as well.

Yet, Los Blancos refuse to budge in their stance to sign him and it does not require much digging to understand why.

Last season, Haaland scored a staggering 36 goals and provided eight assists in the Premier League alone for the eventual champions. His form has been no less imperious this time around, for he has 13 goals in just 12 appearances in England.

Florentino Perez thus sees him as the ideal number nine for Real Madrid’s incisive style of football. After all, there is a clear void after the departure of Karim Benzema.

Dani Carvajal is ageing like fine wine. The Real Madrid veteran may be 31 years of age, but his performances this season are right up there with the best in the business.

In 11 league starts this season, the Spaniard has scored twice and provided two assists for Real Madrid. Further, he averages 1.3 key passes and nine defensive actions per game.

Carvajal at his current level is single-handedly capable of covering the right-back position for Los Blancos this season.

Yet, the management understandably prioritises the future and have identified Chelsea’s Reece James as a well-placed replacement.

Not the lone party
According to reports from The Independent via GOAL, Manchester City are also interested in signing James.

The Premier League champions have seen him as the man to succeed Kyle Walker for a long time and hope to sign him in the coming transfer windows.

Needless to say, this comes as a big blow to Real Madrid’s plan of signing the star. With England’s biggest team in his pursuit, James could well opt to stay in his home country.

Nevertheless, the player has not yet given any indication of a desire to leave Chelsea yet. His contract with the Blues, in fact, runs until 2028.

Real Madrid’s monetary limit
Earlier this week, reports brought to light that Carlo Ancelotti had approved the English star’s signing as a long-term right-back option. His arrival, however, is far from simple.

James has a long-term deal with Chelsea and is currently valued at €65 million on the transfer market.

Real Madrid refuse to meet that figure and do not intend to pay over €40 million for his services.

The entry of Manchester City could well change Los Blancos’ position on the financial front. The final decision lies with the player and his entourage.

Agent: Victor Osimhen hasn’t signed any deal with Tottenham

The bonafide representative of Golden Boot winner at the Fifa Under 17 World Cup, Victor Osimhen, has made it crystal clear that there is no truth to reports that claimed the striker has agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

Shira Yussuf, the elder brother of Nigeria international and ex Dynamo Kiev midfielder Yussuf Ayila, and his partner, Ariyo Igbayilola, have pleaded that their client should not be unsettled with transfer speculations , as he just returned to Lagos after spending several months with the Under 17 national team.

“We have not agreed anything with Tottenham Hotspur, it’s just speculation, ” Yusuf Shira Ayila told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“Victor Osimhen needs to rest, they shouldn’t unsettle the player with these transfer stories. How will a player be in Lagos and they are speculating he has signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur?”

Shira Yussuf added : “ For now we don’t know where he’ll play. We have a lot of top clubs in Europe that are after Osimhen but in due course the public will know where he is heading to. We can’t decide without the player.”

Sources close to the situation has said that Osimhen is likely to join an English Premier League club, with the likes of Manchester United, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all scrambling for his signature.

Victor Osimhen arrived in Lagos late last night from Abuja alongside his coach, Chinedu Ogbenna, and his intermediaries.
