The Kylian Mbappe transfer saga continues as a new claim suggest Liverpool are prepared to pay the French striker a huge signing on fee and salary.

But it will not come close to matching his current terms in Paris despite the Telegraph reporting that he wants an annual salary of £65 million (€75M) – that’s AFTER tax.

That’s a mind-boggling £1.25 million per week (€1.4M/week).

Yeah, Liverpool aren’t paying that and apparently Real Madrid won’t either. If Madrid’s president Florentino Perez says it’s too expensive, then it really has to be.

Liverpool and Real Madrid not prepared to meet Kylian Mbappe demands
Spanish news outlet Le Figaro Sport claims that Mbappe should and will leave for personal and career reasons when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Apparently, Mbappe and “those around him” are aware that only Saudi Pro League clubs can consider paying him the same or more than he is currently earning.

At “Real Madrid and Liverpool”, they are reportedly willing to to agree on paying a huge signing on fee and a “colossal” salary of around £30 million (€35M).

That should be more than enough but when you consider he’s been earning that amount roughly every half-year, will he want to accept less?

Only Mbappe could answer that but that’s the sacrifice he will have to make if wants to take the step up from PSG to Liverpool or Madrid.

What is the total value of Kylian Mbappe’s PSG contract?
While you may know that Mbappe makes roughly around £1.1 million (€1.4M) per week, do you know how much his three-year contract extension has earned him?

He will reportedly forego his final loyalty bonus but the value of the contract stands at a whopping £541 million (€630M).

That includes a signing-on bonus worth £154 million (€180M) spread over the three years of the contract.

Even if, as per reports, he does sacrifice his final loyalty bonus, that means he will only have earned £471 million (€550M).

It doesn’t matter where he goes, if he stays in Europe, he will need to take a huge pay cut and join the rest of his peers in the somewhat normal world.

David Villa says striker Liverpool signed for £20m was actually better than Luis Suarez

Charles Jones
Tue 16 January 2024 17:15, UK
Liverpool have been blessed with some truly incredible strikers throughout their history.

From Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush to Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler, the Reds have rarely been short of an incredible number nine.

Two strikers in the Reds’ recent history standout more than any other – Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez.

Torres was a sensation when he arrived from Atletico Madrid for £20m, but he was replaced by Suarez in 2011 when he joined Chelsea for £50m.

Suarez and Torres both carved out incredible legacies within the game, but which player was better? Well, speaking to Goal, Spain legend, David Villa, has claimed that Torres was the superior striker.

Torres was better than Suarez
Villa gave his verdict on his former international teammate.

“Torres or Lewandowski?” Villa was asked.

“Torres,” Villa replied.

David Villa then chose Torres over the likes of Harry Kane, Karim Benzema and Raul as well, before answering a question about Luis Suarez.

Torres or Luis Suarez?” Villa was asked.

“Torres,” Villa said.

Tough
It’s hard to call this one, but, in our view, Suarez just about edges this argument.

The Uruguayan scored at a greater rate than Torres did in the Premier League, and he carried that form through for Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Torres, at his best, was truly unbelievable, and he has won a World Cup, but Suarez’s goals speak for themselves, he once held the Premier League record for goals in a season, and he’s also one of Barcelona’s all-time leading scorers despite spending just six seasons at Camp Nou.

Suarez was just on another level to Torres in a lot of ways, and while Villa knew Torres better as a player, it has to be said that Suarez could do things on a pitch that no other player could.

These are two of Liverpool’s greatest forwards, but, in our view, Suarez is just about the better player.
