REPORT: NEWCASTLE has signed Manchester City star player who is seen to be a MONSTER

It takes a lot to drag Luke Edwards away from the tireless pastime of thanking his Saudi overlords as he wipes away the latest crumbs of news they spoon-feed him about Newcastle (before making him look very silly indeed by doing the opposite to what he has been told).

It is likely to mean an exciting summer on Tyneside with the club targeting at least four “elite players” who will be able to immediately challenge for a first-team place,’ he wrote on April 17.

‘They have spent around £250 million on new players in the three transfer windows combined, but are planning to sign at least four elite players to boost manager Eddie Howe’s squad ahead of their return to European football. It will not be cheap and although sources have been careful not to give an exact figure for their budget, Telegraph Sport can disclose how they intend to navigate their way through FFP rules,’ he wrote on April 18.

‘Sources have told Telegraph Sport that Newcastle are likely to spend more in this window than they have done before under their Saudi Arabian owners,’ he wrote on May 23.

Four “elite players”. FFP won’t be a problem. Biggest window under Saudi Arabian ownership yet. Please, Yasir Al-Rumayyan sir, can I have some more?

‘Newcastle United could sign only two players this summer as they are unable to fund a major squad overhaul due to Financial Fair Play rules,’ he wrote on June 12.

That is nothing compared to Edwards stating on June 25 that Newcastle would ‘pause and reflect before deciding what to do next’ after signing Sandro Tonali as a’ big chunk of funds has gone on the Italian and there is desire to move players out as well to free up wage space. Patience needed’.

By the literal next day, Edwards was exclusively reporting that the Magpies were ‘in advanced talks’ over Tino Livramento, presumably having paused and reflected for an hour or so.

But in between getting every budget and plan for Newcastle’s post-takeover transfer windows completely and utterly wrong as he blindly toes whatever party line he is told by his completely anonymous and unidentifiable sources, Edwards has shown a unique capacity to make himself look really foolish when given the chance to express his very own opinions.

Newcastle United have completed a deal to sign Sandro Tonali from AC Milan. Now it is on to the next one.

Eddie Howe was desperate to sign a marquee midfielder this summer, and he’s got it in Tonali. However, he has plenty of other positions that he would like to improve in ahead of next season.

With Newcastle set to compete in the Champions League, it is vital that Howe has a stronger squad to choose from. He is going to have to rotate more, having relied on a rather small pool of players in the 2022/23 campaign.

The Toon boss is keen to boost his defence, but he is also looking for attacking reinforcements.

Newcastle look to sign left winger
It has been reported by the Telegraph that Newcastle want to sign a left winger ahead of next season. Harvey Barnes is an option for the Magpies, with the 25-year-old expected to leave Leicester following their relegation.

Barnes would be a decent signing. While he is not a high profile name, his numbers speak for themselves. He scored 13 times last season, in a Leicester team that could not avoid the drop.

A right-footed winger who loves cutting in on his left, Barnes is ideal for the Magpies, but a move for the England international would raise questions about a player who is already at St James’ Park.

Bad news for Allan Saint-Maximin
A lot is being said about the future of Allan Saint-Maximin. He is being linked with a move away this summer, with the possibility of going to Saudi Arabia.

Most fans would like the Frenchman to stay, but a move for Barnes, or any left winger, would cast further doubt over ASM’s Toon career.

As it stands, Newcastle have Saint-Maximin, Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak, Jacob Murphy, Joelinton and Joe Willock who can all operate on the left of attack.
Valentino Livramento would reportedly prefer a move to Newcastle United over Chelsea, who are keen to re-sign the right-back for £40 million.
According to Daily Mail, Valentino Livramento would ideally like to sign for Newcastle United over Chelsea if presented with those options. The Southampton man is not overly pushing for a move away from Southampton but will consider a big move back to the Premier League. The Blues have a £40 million buyback clause to re-sign the youngster.

Allan Saint-Maximin is “an option for Saudi Arabia” this summer as the former Nice man is no longer “in Eddie Howes plans”, claims transfers expert Graham Bailey.

Newcastle transfer news – What’s the latest on Allan Saint-Maximin?
The Toon finally made their grand entrance into this summer’s transfer window last week when they announced the £55m signing of AC Milan star and Italian international Sandro Tonali.

The transfer has been viewed by some, such as The Athletic’s George Caulkin, as a transformative moment, a moment in which the Magpies truly announce themselves as a new club among the Premier League elite.

However, this bar to which the Toon will be held means that some of their stars over the last five or six years are becoming surplus to requirements, none more so than the ever-popular figure, Saint-Maximin.

The Frenchman arrived in Tyneside from Nice in the summer of 2019 and made an instant impact on his new Geordie fanbase. It was his attacking threat and style of play more than anything that won fans over, he was helping them to win games, and he looked like he genuinely loved doing it.

However, with the takeover 18 months ago, the arrival of new talent and the revised expectation to challenge for Champions League places, the tricky winger has seen his minutes dramatically dwindle.

France winger Moussa Diaby

Newcastle United have been given a huge helping hand in their bid to sign Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen after the German club identified his replacement, according to a report.

Diaby has been heavily linked with Newcastle over the past 12 months. Magpies chiefs have been very impressed by the winger’s form, as he has registered at least 10 goals and 10 assists in each of the last three seasons with Leverkusen.

Newcastle are also admirers of Diaby’s versatility. He likes to operate on the left flank but can play as a centre-forward or right winger too if required.

Arsenal have already captured Kai Havertz from Chelsea in a £65million deal, while Declan Rice will soon arrive from West Ham for £105m. Mikel Arteta’s side have also reached a ‘full agreement’ for the signing of Jurrien Timber, who could cost £38.6m in total.

With Arsenal out of the picture, German outlet Bild have provided Newcastle with another boost as they attempt to bring Diaby to the Premier League.

‘A statement signing’ | Newcastle…

Arsenal have been tipped to rival Newcastle for Diaby. However, the Gunners are unlikely to move for him this summer as they are plotting other big-money transfers.

They claim Leverkusen are warming to the Frenchman’s exit after landing on Jonas Hofmann as his successor in attack. Leverkusen have signed Hofmann from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Monchengladbach for €10m (£8.5m).

Hofmann, who has agreed a four-year deal with his new club, is one of a select few number of Bundesliga attackers who is capable of replicating Diaby’s influence. Last term, he notched 14 goals and 12 assists in 33 appearances for Gladbach.

Newcastle target eyes Premier League switch
Diaby is now ready to push for a move out of the Bay Arena. And in more good news for Newcastle, he ‘aims to move to England next’, where Eddie Howe’s side are his main suitors.

Having come through the Paris Saint-Germain academy and then shone with Leverkusen, it seems the 23-year-old is eager to try out the Prem in the next stage of his career.

Although, Newcastle will face some serious competition for him. The report adds that he is also weighing up a potential return to PSG. This move appeals to him as he was born in Paris and has close ties with the club.

Thanks to their super wealthy owners, Newcastle now have the finances to compete with PSG, both in terms of a transfer bid to Leverkusen and a contract offer to the player. It will then be down to Diaby to decide where he wants to go next.

Diaby would be a brilliant signing for Newcastle. He would likely take up the left wing spot at St James’ Park, which could see him form an electric front three with centre-forward Alexander Isak and right winger Miguel Almiron. Of course, Howe also has striker Callum Wilson and fellow wingers Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy available to him.

Surprisingly, Newcastle have repeatedly been backed to offload Allan Saint-Maximin, even though he is a fan-favourite on Tyneside.

Sky Sports have released footage of Sandro Tonali arriving on Tyneside this afternoon.

The 23-year-old was filmed arriving at Milan’s Linate airport by the Italian media a few hours ago and has now touched down in Newcastle, with Sky cameras capturing the midfielder coming out of a private jet shortly after 4.30pm.

Tonali’s official move to Newcastle United was announced by the club on Monday, where he signed an initial five-year deal following a £55m transfer from AC Milan.

He’s the second most expensive signing in the club’s history and will soon visit St James’ Park and our Benton training base, with photos of him in a black and white shirt and official interviews likely to follow.

Newcastle United transfer target set for medical after agreeing £8.5m move
A Magpies target is closing in on a move to a Serie A club as part of a double defensive deal with a former Premier League star.

Former Newcastle United transfer target Mitchel Bakker is on the verge of completing an £8.5million move from Bayer Leverkusen to Serie A club Atalanta.

The 21-times capped Netherlands international was reportedly on the Magpies radar last year and there were suggestions he was under consideration as a target this summer as an alternative option to Arsenal star Kieran Tierney.

Bakker came through the famed academy at Dutch giants Ajax before joining Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer ahead of the 2019/20 season. However, a two-year stay in the French capital came to a close when he joined Leverkusen in the summer of 2021.

His move to the Bundesliga saw Bakker lauded by Bayer’s sporting director Rudi Voller, as he said: “Mitchel Bakker combines athletic qualities such as pace and strength in challenges with footballing ability. He is a modern full-back with a strong desire to get forward and he’ll help our team.”

The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive stay with the Bundesliga club, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 70 appearances as he helped Bayer compete in the Champions League and reach the last four of last season’s Europa League.
