Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies could be out for four to six weeks through injury.

Ben Davies has enjoyed a run in the Tottenham side since early November ever since Micky van de Ven picked up a hamstring injury against Chelsea.

The 30-year-old has been ever-present in the Dutchman’s absence, playing alongside Emerson Royal and Cristian Romero.

Davies has stepped up well over the past couple of months to help Spurs stay within touching distance of the top four.

But the £10 million man picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win over Burnley in the FA Cup last Friday.

And in what is yet another injury blow for Ange Postecoglou, it seems he could be set for a spell on the sidelines.

Davies could be out for six weeks
Speaking in his latest YouTube video, Gold shared an update on Davies’ injury.

“Ben Davies, from what I understand, potentially four to six weeks is the kind of timeframe they’re looking at,” the Football.London journalist said.

“But what I would say is that Ben Davies is quite quick healer, from previous kinds of issues he’s had. So, I’m sure he as a player will be looking to come back sooner than that.”

Van de Ven returned to the matchday squad last Friday but is yet to get any minutes under his belt since his injury.

It will be a huge boost for Postecoglou to have the Dutchman back ahead of Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford, especially with Davies sidelined.

Cristian Romero is also in contention to return to action ahead of schedule after suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-1 win over Everton last month.

Tottenham also look set to wrap up a deal for Radu Dragusin imminently, which should further boost Postecoglou’s options in the position.

The midfielder becomes the Blues’ first signing of the January transfer window and arrives to bolster the League One promotion push.

White, 19, has made two appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side this season.

He came off the bench for his bow in a 4-0 win over Ludogorets in the Europa League before making his full debut in Spurs’ 5-0 defeat of non-league Marine in the FA Cup earlier this month.

White has also scored three times in 11 matches for Tottenham’s under-23s Premier League 2 campaign, along with being capped at England under-18 level.

What’s more, he netted for Spurs under-21s at Fratton Park in the Checkatrade Trophy in the 2018-19 season – which ended a 3-2 win for Pompey.

Kenny Jackett had prioritised a midfielder at the start of the transfer window to provide cover and competition to Tom Naylor and Andy Cannon.

Because White is under-21, he will not count towards the League One salary cap rules.

His arrival could potentially mean Bryn Morris is allowed to depart, with Jackett speaking about the ex-Middlesbrough man’s future after Saturday’s win at Fleetwood.

Tottenham injury news v Manchester United: Doctor issues Manor Solomon update

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Tottenham Hotspur…

Tottenham attacker Manor Solomon is still recovering from his meniscus injury and will not be available v Manchester United, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

Spurs take on the Red Devils at Old Trafford on 14 January and that game will be too soon for the Israel international.

The injury expert claims that the rehabilitation is tricky and the club will be keen on avoiding his injury as he has been ruled out for over three months.

Discussing the state of play with Solomon exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “He suffered a significant meniscus injury and had to undergo surgery on it.

“That’s never easy and the recovery does get tricky.

“The best way to handle his day-to-day and mitigate reinjury risks is a methodical progression back to matches and then multiple bounce matches.

“He still seems a few weeks away from returning to action.“

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that the 24-year-old returns to action soon as he provides versatility in the final third.

Being a left winger by trade, he’s capable of playing on the right wing as well and has done so for Spurs.

In 198 Premier League minutes this season, Solomon has provided two assists and has proven to be a healthy option in depth for the Lilywhites.

There are a number of injured players currently at Spurs and it remains to be seen whether or not it’s a busy transfer window for them.

In other Tottenham Hotspur news, a player is mooted to have suffered a setback in his rehabilitation and now may be out for longer than first expected.
