‘REALLY BIG’: KIERAN GIBBS WARNS POSSIBLE TOTTENHAM TRANSFER WOULD RUIN ARSENAL RIVALRY

Kieran Gibbs wants Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham Hotspur, or else, it would ruin the competitive rivalry between Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The former Arsenal player thinks the gap between Tottenham and their north London rivals would become ‘huge’ if Harry Kane secures a transfer to Bayern Munich this summer, as he told ESPN.

Last season, Spurs, after sacking Antonio Conte, finished outside of Europe, whilst Mikel Arteta guided his team to a second-placed finish, although, they should have won the Premier League title.

The points gap between the two was 24, and let’s be honest, with Arsenal boosting their squad even further this summer, including breaking their club-record transfer for Declan Rice, then that will only be maintained or even grow bigger if Kane goes.

It also needs to be remembered that, for the first time in a long time, Arsenal did the double over their neighbours last season.

You would imagine Gibbs would have been enjoying this, but he clearly feels things would get out of hand if Kane goes, in regards to the rivalry.

“As a fan of Harry and a fan of the rival (North London derby) in general, I want to see Harry stay,” said Gibbs. “I just feel they would be that bad if he goes.

“The gap would be huge. It would really be big. It’s already getting big. As fans, you want excitement, especially for the big rival games. You don’t want a Liverpool-Everton situation. You want to be close and keep the competitiveness.

“They are in a transition period, with the stadium and it kind of feels like with Spurs, when it rains, it pours and right now it’s pouring. You don’t want the imbalance to grow too much, so I would like to see him stay.”

Arsenal fans will be enjoying this

Gibbs perhaps speaks for very few Arsenal fans, most of them probably want the Englishman to go because it would really send their rivals tumbling.

Even with him last season, they finished outside of Europe, so many would dread, not those at the Emirates, what happens if he goes.

Ange Postecoglou has brought some life and attacking intent to Spurs this summer, especially with the capture of James Maddison, so to ruin that by letting Kane go so late in the window would make a certain Daniel Levy even more unpopular.

AFTER JACK CLARKE FRUSTRATIONS, BURNLEY COULD BID FOR 21-YEAR-OLD LEEDS WINGER.

Burnley are reportedly looking to sign Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville as a potential alternative to Sunderland star Jack Clarke.

According to The Sunday Mirror (print edition, page 69, August 6, 2023), Burnley are interested in signing Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Burnley, who will play in the Premier League this season after winning promotion from the Championship, are considering a bid for Summerville.

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany wants to sign former Leeds and Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke from Sunderland, but he is “frustrated in his attempts” to get a deal done with the Black Cats.

So, the former Manchester City defender is looking at alternatives and has settled on Summerville.

Leeds are aware that there will be interest in Summerville and are bracing themselves for offers, according to the report.
