West Ham United agree terms with Mavropanos, £17.1m bid required for deal to be done in days

Konstantinos Mavropanos is set to say farewell to Stuttgart following his agreement to join West Ham United, according to BILD.

The German outlet reported (17 August) that the Hammers would need to pay £17.1million to get the Greek international, but the deal looks likely with everything else in place.

Mavropanos could complete his move by the weekend after the 25-year-old had offers from Juventus and Inter Milan this summer.

With personal terms met and goodbyes said, all that seems to stand in the way of this deal’s completion is for the Hammers to agree to pay the money.

£17.1million could prove shrewd business. In an ever-inflating marketplace, good deals can be hard to come by but Stuttgart’s young centre-back could be the answer to David Moyes’ defensive worries.

With interest from Italian giants like Juventus and Inter, Mavropanos is clearly of the calibre required at West Ham after they lost out on top centre-back target Harry Maguire, who seems to want to remain at Manchester United.

The Greek international can boast some exceptional stats that will convince Hammers fans that he is ready for tough competition in both the Premier League and Europa League.West Ham

With 2.52 interceptions per 90 (99th percentile), 3.42 aerial duels won per 90 (95th percentile) and 1.32 progressive carries per 90 (91st percentile) [FBRef], the former Arsenal man has all the attributes to be a quality asset for Moyes.

Mavropanos seems keen on a return to the Premier League too, while their qualification for European football appears to have given them a fresh cutting edge over other clubs in the market.

With another exciting player through the door, West Ham are slowly but surely preparing for the season.

In other West Ham news, a Hammers forward has shared his view on the Harry Maguire transfer saga.
