New Ange Postecoglou footage emerges and he’s already doing something Tottenham fans will love

A new interview with the Tottenham Hotspur head coach has emerged and it seems he’s already feeling close to the north London club

A new interview with Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has emerged and he’s already speaking about the club as his own.

The Australian does not officially start work with the north London outfit until July 1 but he popped into Hotspur Way on Friday for a day of meetings with various club staff including chairman Daniel Levy. Spurs released a short message from Postecoglou to the fans that day but now some new interview clips, which seems to be from that same in-house club media session, have emerged.

It’s a simple thing but for those Tottenham fans who might have felt that previous managers did not connect at times with their club, they might just notice that Postecoglou is already referring to Spurs as ‘we’ and ‘our club’.

First he was asked about the importance of this pre-season ahead, which will take the club back to his homeland with a match against West Ham in Perth before the team travel to Bangkok to face Leicester and then Singapore to take on former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

“Yeah, it’s vital, particularly I think with a new manager coming in, myself coming in, and that gives me the time with the players and there will be new staff in as well, where we could all sort of begin to embed the kind of values and football we want to play,” said Postecoglou in the interview which has emerged in different sections on Australian channel Optus Sport and on beIN SPORTS Australia.

“Also we get to spend a lot of time together, which I think is a good thing because as much as anything else, we get to know each other as people. So it’s vital to our season ahead.”

The 57-year-old is looking forward to the chance of getting back to Australia with his new club.

“Well it’s a trip home so that’s brilliant! I’m really excited because I do know how passionate people are about football in Australia, the Premier League and more importantly our football club,” he said.

“The trips I’ve done back home are always exciting for me and I think for the whole group, the football club and our players we’ll enjoy it. Very good opposition as well, it’s a great stadium, I’ve visited the stadium and it’s fantastic. I’m really looking forward to it.”

On the coincidence of being back home in Australia, he said: “I don’t think it was by design but it’s worked out pretty well that my first official game will be back home and I’m sure I’ll have plenty of family and friends there. It’s a great way to start this new era for this football club.

For everyone, ultimately from a football perspective it’s a great place for us to begin our programme. More importantly it will give everyone a good indication of the kind of football team we want to be.”
