Mohamed Salah’s replacement arrived Anfield today, medical done

Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool ‘have no intention to negotiate’ the transfer of Mohamed Salah, who is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

Salah has been the Reds’ most influential player since he joined the club from AS Roma in 2017.

He has scored a gargantuan 138 goals and provided 81 assists in 220 appearances for the Premier League club, winning a Premier League title, the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Champions League in the process.

After bringing in the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Neymar, the Saudi Pro League is now reportedly looking to make Salah their next big-money addition.

Liverpool have already sold Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi clubs this summer and it is the latter’s new side, Al-Ittihad, who are hoping to land Salah having made a £79.4million bid.

A report from Rudy Galetti stated that Salah has ‘informed’ Jurgen Klopp he wants to make the move, but Romano has said Liverpool do not want to sell their star player.

Writing for CaughtOffside, the Italian journalist has said the 31-year-old ‘is not for sale’ after he received a ‘huge’ salary offer.

‘Even though there have been a lot of rumours about Mohamed Salah’s future over the weekend, Liverpool have been clear every day on this story: they have no intention to negotiate, with the club and Jurgen Klopp reiterating as much after the Newcastle game on Sunday,’ Romano wrote.

‘Al Ittihad tried by improving their salary proposal to Salah, the bid is huge for the Liverpool star and would tempt any player in the world but Liverpool have no intention of negotiating.

‘The Reds have sent a very clear message in public and privately regarding Salah, the player is not for sale.’

Salah made the assist for Darwin Nunez’s winning goal against Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Egyptian had a fairly quiet game but once again showed his ability to do something crucially important out of the blue.

Speaking last Friday, Klopp insisted Liverpool had not received an offer from Al-Ittihad.

He said: “We don’t have an offer, Mo Salah is still a Liverpool player, obviously for all the things we do, he’s essential and will be. There’s nothing there. If there would be something, the answer would be no.

“My life philosophy is I think about a problem when I have it. At the moment, there’s absolutely nothing. I said already if there is something, the answer would be no.”
