Manchester United winger Antony has been accused of domestic abuse by a former partner, according to Brazilian media.

The Brazilian’s ex girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin has reported him to the police for ‘domestic violence, threat and bodily injury’, according to Globo Esporte.

Cavallin has claimed she was assaulted by Antony on the 20th of May, and her report is said to include ‘photos of abrasions and threatening messages’ from the former Ajax man.

It remains to be seen what the police will conclude from the findings, while there has yet to be any official comment made by Man Utd or the player.

This concerning story follows the ongoing issues involving the suspended Mason Greenwood, while club legend Ryan Giggs has been on trial for allegations of assault from his ex-girlfriend and will face a re-trial next month.

Antony has shown some promise since joining United, but these off-the-field allegations certainly sound like they could become serious.

‘We’ll be stronger next season’

Manchester United forward Antony has assured fans that the Reds will be back ‘even stronger’ next season.

Though unable to play his part in the final due to injury, the Brazilian expressed his pride for his team-mates on social media following the narrow 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.

“Proud of this team,” he wrote. “A very intense season. We were champions [of the League Cup], we are back in the Champions League.

“We will be even stronger next season. Proud to be United!”

Fellow forward Alejandro Garnacho, who was electric off the bench in the final, echoed a similar sentiment on Instagram.

“I am broken,”

our no.49 began. “People who know me know how obsessed I am with winning and today it couldn’t be.

“Probably one of the hardest days of my life, we will get up again because we are Manchester United.

“God has taught me never to give up and I promise to the fans that we will bring joy to you very soon.”

Marcus Rashford says he takes positives from the ‘progress’ the Reds have made during our latest campaign and is urging United to keep moving forward.

“This game meant everything to us today, but it wasn’t meant to be,”

he wrote.

“It’s clear to see progress has been made over the season, but we still have to keep improving and come back even stronger next season.”
