Manchester City Sell Striker, at €239m rated.

Manchester City have an asking price in mind for striker Liam Delap, with Southampton and Hull City both keen, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Delap, 21, was on loan at Hull in the Championship last season and found the back of the net eight times in 31 outings.

He saw a knee injury badly interrupt his campaign, but the Tigers saw more than enough to want him back again.

Premier League new boys Southampton are also interested in Delap as they stare at the prospect of losing Che Adams.

Manchester City are prepared to cash in on Delap and it is suggested that a bid of around £10m would do the trick.

Delap has now accumulated 68 appearances in the Championship in total, scoring 12 goals.

Manchester City believe the striker should command a fee in the region of £10m if they are to sell him.

Delap still has another two years to run on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City have been named as Europe’s third most financially sustainable club, and are the only English side to rank in the top 10.

Pep Guardiola’s side extended their unprecedented success with a further three trophies during the recent 2023/24 campaign, lifting a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title, alongside the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Manchester City, who also won the UEFA Champions League as part of a landmark treble in 2023, have won six of the last seven Premier League’s and a total of 17 trophies since Guardiola’s arrival in 2016.

The Sky Blues have enjoyed huge financial success as a result of their major achievements on the field, with Manchester City posting £712.8 million in revenue from the 2022/23 season, an increase of £99.8 million.

Manchester City recorded their highest ever revenue and record profits as a result of the treble-winning campaign, with commercial revenue of £341.4 million.

The Etihad outfit were displaced by Real Madrid on the Deloitte Football Money League in 2024 despite the record figures, although the Blues were the highest ranking Premier League club.

Manchester City have ranked as the third most financially sustainable European club however, with Scandinavian clubs dominating the list published by Off The Pitch.

The rankings are based off a weighted model, using on EBITDA-margin, return-on-assets (excluding exceptional income) and Equity-ratio.

Norwegian pair Bodø/Glimt and Molde FK ranked ahead of the Premier League champions, with the Sky Blues being the only English club to feature in the top 10.

AGF Aarhus, who ranked in eighth place, are managed by Manchester City legend Uwe Rosler, with the German having made 177 appearances for the Blues between 1994 and 1998.

Rosler scored 64 goals, and moved to Manchester City permanently after a return of five goals in 12 games during the 1993/94 campaign.

The 55-year-old previously managed both Leeds United and Brentford, and has been coaching in the Danish top-flight since 2022.

A host of tennis legends feature among the WTA players with the best grass-court records, with Martina Navratilova top ahead of Serena Williams.

Steffi Graf, Chris Evert, Venus Williams and Justine Henin are some of the other icons who make the list.

Here, we look at the nine women with the highest singles win percentages on grass in WTA Tour history (with a minimum of 50 wins on the surface).

9. Kim Clijsters – 56-16 (77.77%)
Kim Clijsters won 77.77% of her matches on grass, making it her third-best surface in terms of win percentage behind hard and carpet courts, and ahead of clay.

The Belgian secured two grass-court titles from three finals and she was also a two-time semi-finalist at Wimbledon.

8. Jana Novotna – 79-21 (79%)
Jana Novotna compiled a 79-21 grass-court record and won both of her titles on the surface in 1998: at Eastbourne and Wimbledon.

Prior to her emotional triumph at Wimbledon, the Czech was a two-time runner-up at the All England Club.

7. Maria Sharapova – 83-21 (79.80%)
Maria Sharapova earned 83 victories from her 104 matches on grass and posted a 3-4 record in the seven title matches she played on the surface.

The Russian won her maiden Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2004, while she was also a two-time champion at the Birmingham Classic. Sharapova was a silver medallist at the 2012 London Olympics, with the tennis event played at the All England Club.

6. Venus Williams – 98-22 (81.66%)
Venus Williams holds a 98-22 career grass-court record, with her win rate of 81.66% her best percentage on any surface.

All five of the American’s titles on grass have come at Wimbledon, while she is also a four-time finalist at the All England Club.

5. Justine Henin – 53-11 (82.81%)
Justine Henin won 53 of the 64 matches she contested on grass and triumphed in three of the seven finals she reached on the surface.

The Belgian was a two-time runner-up at Wimbledon — which was the only Major title she did not win — in 2001 and 2006.

4. Steffi Graf – 85-15 (85%)
Steffi Graf amassed an 85-15 record from her 100 grass-court matches, which, somewhat surprisingly, makes the surface her worst in terms of win percentage.

The German reached all nine of her grass finals at Wimbledon, where she won seven titles — making it her most successful Grand Slam event.

3. Chris Evert – 242-35 (87.36%)
Chris Evert won 242 of the 277 matches she played on grass, with her 87.36% win percentage lower than her totals on clay, hard, and carpet courts.

The American was a 17-time grass court-titlist and three-time Wimbledon winner, while she was also a runner-up on the surface on 12 occasions.

2. Serena Williams – 107-15 (87.70%)
Serena Williams compiled a 107-15 record from her 122 matches on grass, with her 87.7% win ratio her highest percentage on a single surface.

The American secured eight grass-court titles, including seven Wimbledon crowns, from the 12 finals she reached on the surface. Williams’s other grass triumph was the gold medal she won at the 2012 London Olympics.

1. Martina Navratilova – 307-39 (88.72%)
Martina Navratilova holds the Open Era record for grass-court match wins (307 of the 346 matches she played) and she also has the highest win percentage among women on the surface.

The Czech-American claimed 32 grass-court titles, with a record nine of these triumphs coming at Wimbledon, from a total of 41 finals.

Aymeric Laporte says Manchester City teammate Eric Garcia is recovering well and will be fine after suffering a shocking injury in the Premier League win over Arsenal on Wednesday.

With City 2-0 up and comfortable, goalkeeper Ederson collided with Garcia as he came to clear a forward ball, clattering into the young defender and leaving him prone on the ground.

Medical staff attended to Garcia for around ten minutes before strapping him up and lifting him onto a stretcher. Garcia was carried off the pitch and manager Pep Guardiola later said he would go to hospital to undergo tests.

“We are concerned about Eric of course. He is conscious but I think he is going to be tested tonight because a kick in the head is always so dangerous,” Guardiola said.

Now, Garcia’s defensive partner Laporte has offered an encouraging update on Garcia’s condition, taking to Twitter on Thursday to say the young Spaniard was doing well.

Laporte wrote: “u guys been asking me a lot about Eric : he’s OK fam. he just needs a couple days to rest but he will be fine soon enough.”

The news will be a relief for everyone at City, with players and staff from both sides visibly concerned for Garcia following the collision with Ederson.

PSG and Barcelona are now understood to be prioritising the potential signing Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez this summer.

Sources close to CaughtOffside have confirmed that Saudi outfits remain keen on Robert Lewandowski. Though the Poland international is not willing to leave Barcelona, an astronomical offer could change the Catalan club’s mind.

Otherwise, it will be difficult for the La Liga side to make an offer exceeding €100m for the City footballer.

PSG had prioritised a move for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen following the high-profile exit of Kylian Mbappe. However, talks have not progressed since.

In the meantime, head coach Luis Enrique has approved a move for Julian Alvarez. PSG have now held talks with the Sky Blues.

The 24-year-old – previously linked with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid – remains a very important player for Pep Guardiola and City. This is why City told Alvarez’s agents they have no plans to sell the attacker in the current window and will reject future offers, CaughtOffside were informed.

The World Cup winner won’t prioritise leaving the Etihad-based outfit unless he receives a good offer. If PSG offers enough playing time and a good contract, this could prove tempting.

Luka Doncic talks about joining Slovenia NT, duel vs. Giannis

Luka Doncic once again confirmed that he’ll play for Slovenia whenever he can. He also talked about a possible matchup against Greece and Giannis Antetokounmpo, admitting that there’s basically no way to stop the Milwaukee Bucks star.

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic joined Slovenia’s national team and took time with the Slovenian media to discuss various topics, including his decision to represent his country, a potential matchup against Greece and Giannis Antetokounmpo, a partnership with Josh Nebo, and more

“It wasn’t that easy to make a decision, mainly because of all the injuries and the length of our season, but now I’m here, and it’s an honor to be here,” Doncic admitted while talking to the Slovenian media. “I didn’t doubt it; I didn’t even think much; I knew that in the end, I would be part of the national team.”

“In the playoffs, I was only focused on Dallas and the games, but I knew how it would be. The Mavericks know that I will always play [for Slovenia] if I can, so there were no dilemmas,” added the Mavericks superstar.

Doncic once again talked about the joy he feels while playing for his country.

“I enjoy playing basketball very much. I’m really happy that it’s my job. Every time I wake up, and there’s a training session or a game waiting for me, I’m happy. It’s always an honor to play for the national team. I love playing for Slovenia. I always say that I will play for Slovenia whenever I can,” said Doncic.

While discussing his physical condition, Doncic admitted that he’s far from being 100% healthy, but his overall situation improves daily.

“All the injuries hindered me, then I kind of got used to everything and fell into the rhythm of the games, because they were scheduled from day to day. As for my knee, I wouldn’t go into details, but everything is getting better day by day,” he noted.

Doncic and Slovenia are set to travel to Piraeus, Greece, to try to win a ticket to the Paris Olympics.

Doncic admitted that he expects a difficult tournament while adding that it’s basically impossible to stop the Greek and Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounnmpo.

“We expect an exceptional atmosphere in Piraeus; we know that the Greeks are very loud; we know where we are going,” Doncic said. “We’ll face exceptional opponents, led by the Greeks and Giannis Antetokounmpo.”

“I don’t think anyone has an answer on how to stop him, we all know what kind of player he is. It’s difficult to stop him, we can only limit his contribution a little,” he added.

Nevertheless, the Dallas Mavericks star believes that Slovenia is capable of making its 2nd Olympic appearance in a row.

“Playing at the Olympic Games would mean a lot, not only to me, but to the whole team and, I believe, to the whole of Slovenia,” Doncic said. “Qualifying for the Olympic Games is not easy; we have managed to do it once so far, and it would be an honor for us to succeed again.”

“I don’t know if this tournament will be more difficult than the one in Lithuania; even then, the Greeks have an excellent team. We will focus on Croatia and New Zealand first, and we talked about how to proceed,” he noted.

On Thursday, Slovenia’s head coach, Aleksandar Sekulic, decided to cut Mike Tobey from the extended roster, meaning that Josh Nebo will be the naturalized player who will represent the Olympics.

When asked what he thinks about the potential partnership with Nebo, Doncic didn’t have an answer yet.

“For now, we haven’t practiced five-on-five, at least since I’ve been here. Today we have the first such training, so I’ll be able to say more after Friday’s match with Brazil,” Doncic concluded.

On Monday, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics broke through and won the franchise its first championship since the Bush administration with a demolition of Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals from Boston.

Brown didn’t have his most eye-popping game from a statistical standpoint in this one, but his performance for the series overall still netted him the coveted Finals MVP trophy and helped the Celtics cap off what was one of the most dominant seasons in NBA history.

One of the most impressive aspects of Brown’s performance throughout these finals was the fact that not only was he producing at an efficient rate at the offensive end of the floor, but he also guarded Doncic, arguably the game’s most difficult assignment, on the other end of the floor and did a solid job of making the Mavericks star work for everything he got and limiting his efficiency for the series.

After the game as the Celtics celebrated, Brown and Doncic shared a moment, with the two congratulating each other on a hard-fought series.

“Luka, you’re a killer. You got the best out of me. I love you, bro,” Brown told Doncic, via Tomek Kordylewski on X, the social media platform formerly referred to as Twitter (per the NBA).

“I love you too, bro,” replied Doncic.

It was a show of great sportsmanship between two players who played integral roles in their respective teams’ ascension to the game’s biggest stage and performed well when they got there.

An impressive performance

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla implemented a unique defensive strategy when facing Doncic and the Mavericks this Finals. While most team are inclined to consistently send double teams at both Doncic and Mavericks teammate Kyrie Irving, Mazzulla decided to primarily guard Doncic in single coverage in an effort to prevent his Mavericks teammates from getting going.

This of course meant that Mazzulla tasked Brown with staying in front of Doncic, who isn’t the quickest or most athletic player but is a master at timing and deceleration and also is a physically strong human being with arguably the most unique skillset in the NBA.

On the whole, Brown did an admirable job of completing this task, walling off Doncic’s attempts to drive into the paint and forcing him into difficult contested jumpers, the majority of which did not go down for the Slovenian sensation.

Brown also did a solid job of staying out of foul trouble, which is always a concern when guarding a player as crafty as Doncic, especially considering how heavily the Celtics rely on Brown’s production on the other end of the floor.

Speaking of the other end of the floor, Brown delivered several big-time moments for the Celtics in these Finals, including a clutch jumper in Game 3 with under a minute remaining to essentially ice the game (and the series) for Boston.

In any case, the Celtics will now be the clear favorites to do this once again next year.

Jaylen Brown and the Celtics fended off a very worthy adversary in the NBA Finals.

Boston was challenged to subdue Luka Doncic on basketball’s biggest stage. This was no easy task, as the Mavericks star averaged nearly 29 points per game across an unexpectedly lengthy Dallas playoff run that spanned across 22 contests.

Doncic almost averaged a double-double (29.2 points, 8.8 rebounds) in the Finals, but his efforts weren’t enough to yield an upset. The Mavs’ championship dreams were officially vanquished Monday evening when the C’s won Game 5 at TD Garden and claimed the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the 18th time in franchise history.

Before Brown popped champagne bottles with his Celtics teammates, the NBA Finals MVP made a point to salute Doncic and recognize his impact on the series.

“Luka, you’re a killer,” Brown told Doncic, per a mic’d-up video. “You got the best out of me. I love you, bro.”

The Mavericks will be hard-pressed to return to the Finals next season, as the Western Conference figures to be even more competitive than it was in the 2023-24 campaign. But oddsmakers are expecting more of the same from Doncic, who as of Friday had the second shortest odds at FanDuel Sportsbook to win league MVP next season.

Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius (; Afrikaans: [pisˈtɔrjus]; born 22 November 1986) is a South African former professional sprinter. In 2015 he was convicted of the 2013 murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.Both of Pistorius’ feet had been amputated when he was 11 months old due to a congenital defect. When he was born he was missing the outside of both feet along with both fibula bones in his legs. Pistorius ran in both non-disabled sprint events and in sprint events for below-knee amputees. He was the tenth athlete to compete at both the Paralympic Games and Olympic Games. After becoming a Paralympic champion, Pistorius attempted to enter non-disabled international competitions, over persistent objections by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and charges that his artificial limbs gave an unfair advantage. Pistorius eventually prevailed in this legal dispute. At the 2011 World Championships in Athletics, Pistorius became the first amputee to win a non-disabled world track medal. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Pistorius became the first double-leg amputee to participate in the Olympic Games. On 14 February 2013, Pistorius fatally shot his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, in his Pretoria home. He claimed he had mistaken Steenkamp for an intruder hiding in the bathroom, but he was arrested and charged with murder. At his trial the following year, Pistorius was found not guilty of murder, but guilty of culpable homicide. He received a five-year prison sentence for culpable homicide and a concurrent three-year suspended prison sentence for a separate reckless endangerment conviction.He was temporarily released on house arrest in 2015 while the case was presented to a panel at the Supreme Court of Appeal, which overturned the culpable homicide verdict and convicted him of murder. In July 2015, Judge Thokozile Masipa extended Pistorius’ sentence to six years. On appeal by the state for a longer prison sentence, the Supreme Court of Appeal more than doubled Pistorius’ prison term to 13 years and five months.

Five-time champion Thompson-Herah out of Olympics

Elaine Thompson-Herah, the two-time Olympic champion in the 100m and 200m, will miss the Paris Olympics with an Achilles injury.

The 31-year-old Jamaican, a five-time Olympic gold medallist, sustained the injury at the New York City Grand Prix on 9 June and had to be carried off the track.

Thompson-Herah – the only sprinter other than compatriot Usain Bolt to win multiple Olympic titles in both the 100m and 200m – was aiming to defend her 100m crown after choosing not to race in the Jamaica 200m trials.

She said a “small tear on my Achilles tendon” ended her chances of competing at a third Olympics.

“It’s a long road but I am willing to start over and keep working and to make full recovery and resume my track career,” Thompson-Herah wrote on Instagram.

“I am hurt and devastated to be missing the Olympics this year but at the end of the day it’s sports and my health comes first.”

Jamaicans have won the past four Olympic gold medals in the women’s 100m.

Thompson-Herah won gold in the 100m and 200m in Rio in 2016 and defended her titles in Tokyo five years later.

She won a fifth Olympic gold in Japan as part of Jamaica’s 4x100m relay team.

‘I’m so proud of Sha’Carri’: North Texas coach plans to cheer on her former athlete at Paris Olympics

Sha’Carri Richardson is on her way to the Paris Olympics after clinching her spot in the 100 meter dash over the weekend. The North Texas native started her running career in Dallas ISD. Sophia Beausoleil spoke with her former track coach who plans to cheer her on in Paris.

After securing her spot in the 100-meter at the Olympic trials, Sha’Carri Richardson is officially on her way to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Many people are rooting for the Dallas native, including her former high school track coach.

“The formula is always hard work; you have to put in the work to be rewarded, and so I’m just very grateful, and I’m just so proud of Sha’Carri, and I always tell her that, ‘You know, I’m always proud of you regardless of what the outcome is,” said Lauren Cross, a teacher, coach and assistant athletic coordinator at Carter High School in Dallas.

Coach Cross returned from Oregon earlier this week, where she watched Richardson secure her spot in the 2024 Olympics.

“it was just fun to be back in Eugene, to watch her in her element and then for her to make the Olympic team,” said Cross.

“It was very rewarding. I knew that it was meant for her to be there. She’s worked so hard, she’s overcome so much, and so you know, she’s where she needs to be.”

She coached Richardson at Carter High School between 2014 and 2018.

“When she came in, she was faster than most of the kids, and by her senior year, she was running collegiate times,” said Cross. “You know, exceptional kids always stand out. It’s just making sure that they have the commitment that goes with it, and so she has the commitment and the hard work, and that’s why she’s qualified to the Olympics.”

“Her seed was planted before she got to high school, I think it was always in her,” said Cross about Richardson. “You know, she’s always had good work, ethic so she knew what she had to do.”

The 24-year-old has blossomed into a track superstar over the years. She’s competed and won many races in her career, including the Track and Field World Championships in Budapest last year. Richardson is looking to add an Olympic medal to her resume.

When she was 21, she was supposed to attend the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but was disqualified after a positive marijuana test. That’s in the past, and Richardson is running fast toward the future.

“She’s 24 now, you have to remember three years ago, she was just a baby, she was 21. You know, you learn, you mature, you grow, you develop, and you know, it’s all within God’s time,” said Cross.

“Just to see everything that she’s overcome and how hard she’s worked and she’s really earned it you know, it’s earned, nothing was ever given,” described Cross.

In 2023, the Dallas Independent School District named the track inside Kincade Stadium at the Jesse Owens Athletic Complex after Richardson, following her world champion title.

“This track just has a lot of memories, a lot of moments, especially since Sha’Carri ran on this track for four years,” said Cross about the Sha’Carri Richardson Track.

Cross, who started coaching ten years ago, said she feels blessed to have come across such an amazing athlete and it’s a dream many other trainers wish to have, an athlete competing in the Olympics.

She says stadium in Dallas s a reminder to aspiring athletes that Richardson once ran and trained on the same track, and should serve as motivation for others to work hard and go after their dreams.

“It just shows that anything is possible. You have someone that was in your shoes, I mean, she was literally in their shoes years ago, and if you dream big and work hard, you can achieve your goals,” said Cross.

“So it’s just easy for the younger kids to see, just never give up and keep working. No matter what adversity you face or what you go through, just continue to stay strong and believe in yourself and work hard and everything will work out.”

Richardson will compete in the 200-meter qualifier on Thursday in Eugene, Oregon.
