Man City has signed favourites ‘special’ talent Arsenal thought they could buy this summer €199m rated DONE DEAL.
Manchester City have now moved ahead of Arsenal in pursuit of one of Mikel Arteta’s key targets this summer.
If Arteta was already tired of competing with Pep Guardiola after a long league season, it seems as if both clubs are now eyeing the same block-buster signing.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the first time the two sides competed in the transfer market of late, given the Declan Rice saga last year.
We’ll never truly know how hard City pushed, but Arsenal fans are content in the knowledge that Rice chose north London, perhaps because he’d be definite first choice.
But that’s unlikely to be a contest Arsenal would like to repeat, not only because they have no desire to be involved in bidding wars, but also because of City’s unrivalled pull.
Both Arteta and Guardiola are faced with the same issue this summer – attempting to improve a squad that won so often, but ultimately endured an underwhelming season.
It’s an odd sentence to say about a team who lifted the Premier League title, but a single trophy isn’t enough for Man City these days.
Man City likely to beat Arsenal to Bruno Guimaraes if he leaves Newcastle
Newcastle United’s ‘special’ midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is certainly a player who could improve both City and Arsenal’s prospects next season – hence why he’s a target of both.
But with Arsenal reluctant to pay Guimaraes’ release clause this summer, journalist Ben Jacobs has explained that City are in pole position if a deal does happen.
Sharing his update on X, Jacobs said City are contemplating a £100m bid.
He explained: “Manchester City remains the most likely destination if Bruno Guimarães leaves Newcastle.
“They currently are the only club contemplating triggering his £100m clause or offering a similar number to it. Contact has already been made with the Guimarães camp, as revealed.
“Arsenal appreciate Guimaraes, but will only proceed if the price drops.
“PSG not actively working on Guimaraes despite historical interest.
Exclusive: Man City Star ‘Set to Stay’ After Crunch Talks

Jack Grealish hasn’t had a great season for Manchester City but he could be on the move in the coming weeks
Despite a lacklustre season, Jack Grealish is set to stay at Manchester City for the 2024/25 season.
Transfer rumours to Tottenham or Aston Villa are unlikely due to high costs and other players at their respective clubs excelling.
Grealish’s value is recognized by Pep Guardiola, earning him a spot in England’s squad and vital role for both club and country.
Jack Grealish hasn’t had the best of seasons by his own standards for Manchester City – but GIVEMESPORT sources have exclusively revealed that the star is set to stay at the Etihad Stadium amid murmurs of a move away.
The star has recorded just three goals and three assists in all competitions for the Premier League winners this season, with fans being somewhat underwhelmed at his output and that has led to touts of an exit. But Grealish, who Pep Guardiola says is ‘one of the best’, will be staying at the Etihad Stadium after crunch talks with Guardiola, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
Jack Grealish: Transfer News Latest
The winger has been linked with a move away from City
Tottenham Hotspur had been linked with Grealish’s credentials in recent times, but any deal is a long way from completion and with the England star likely to cost a lot of money – with City hoping to recoup most of their £100million layout on the wide man – it would take City actively trying to get rid of Grealish for a move to occur.
Former club Aston Villa have also been touted with a transfer for his services but so far, that is also a deal that seems a long way from completion with Moussa Diaby, Leon Bailey and Morgan Rogers all excelling at Villa Park.
Jack Grealish ‘Set to Stay’ at Manchester City
The winger will have another seas
GIVEMESPORT sources have exclusively revealed that Grealish is set to stay with the Citizens for the 2024/25 season, despite rumours of discontent around his stay at the Etihad Stadium.
There have been doubts surrounding his future in Manchester after a slightly sub-par year under Pep Guardiola, having been an unused substitute for their major games and he has seemingly falling behind Jeremy Doku in the pecking order at the reigning Premier League champions – with the young Belgian starting 18 Premier League games compared to Grealish’s 10, where Phil Foden is also used should Kevin de Bruyne, himself and Bernardo Silva make the front three.
But sources have revealed that conversations have taken place between Grealish and the management team at the end of the season, and Spanish boss Guardiola is more than happy with Grealish as a whole – with the winger wanting to stay at the Etihad Stadium in what will now be his fourth season at the club following his £100million move from Aston Villa.
Grealish has been a major part of City’s success since joining, registering 32 goal contributions in 125 games for the side from the north west and with their treble win last season, he registered 16 combined goals and assists in just over 3,000 minutes of football – which was a healthy contribution to make City history.
Grealish’s England Chances
The Birmingham-born star will see if he gets into the EURO squad shortly
He came on as a substitute for England in Monday night’s friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina, curating a wonderful assist for Trent Alexander-Arnold’s volley and he is waiting to find out if he has a space on the plane to Germany after Friday’s friendly against Finland at Wembley.
Grealish is expected to make the cut following on from his success in an England shirt throughout his career, with his match-winning actions making him such a valuable asset for both club and country – be it coming off the bench or starting the game.
With Anthony Gordon, Foden and Cole Palmer all capable of playing on the left-hand side – despite Palmer being naturally inverted on the right, and Foden being shunted out wide to allow Jude Bellingham to flourish in the No. 10 role – Grealish does bring that X-factor, and so his involvement on the plane could be vital to England’s chances of a first major trophy in 58 years.
EXCLUSIVE: MAN CITY’S PREMIER LEAGUE LAWSUIT EXPLAINED, WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT.
UK
Manchester City are suing the Premier League in a legal case that has never been seen before in English football.
The league champions have launched a case against the Premier League over their Associated Party Transaction (ATP) rules.
The ATP rules were actually introduced in last 2021 following the Saudi Arabian-led takeover of Newcastle United. The regulations were instigated to prevent clubs from overly benefitting from commercial deals from companies that are linked to the club’s ownership.
City fighting rules they feel are ‘restrictive and anti-competitive’
Whilst introduced to prevent Newcastle from signing massive sponsorship deals with Saudi companies, City – owned by United Arab Emirates royalty in the shape of Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan – have also been impacted given their ongoing commercial deals with a number of UAE corporations including Etihad Airways, who sponsor their stadium.
Now City have decided to sue as they feel the rules are “restrictive and anti-competitive”. A two-week private arbitration will start on Monday – as confirmed by The Times. City are looking for the ATP rules to be scrapped, which would also allow them to sue the league for damages.
Every Premier League club is aware of the impending action as City are also pointing to the fact that the league’s majority brought through the rules to as a clear sign of “discrimination against Gulf ownership” due to the fact they were brought as a reaction to Newcastle’s takeover.
The other clubs are able to put forward evidence or statements backing City or the Premier League.
This lawsuit should not be confused with City’s other legal battle with the Premier League as they are charged with 115 breaches of the league’s regulations and Financial Fair Play rules (FFP).
City have always strenuously denied the allegations that were first alleged in 2018 and sources state they are ‘confident’ that they will not be facing any punishments – such as that have been seen in the Premier League this season with the likes of Everton and Nottingham Forest both being hit with points penalties.
What can we read in Man City’s lawsuit?
We spoke to leading sports lawyer and partner at Leathes Prior, Dan Chapman about City’s impending action and what it could mean for football.
“It is very difficult to properly assess the true nature of this particular dispute between Man City and the Premier League as these are arbitration proceedings, which are held in private and are confidential.
“Whilst clearly there has been a leak to the media of some aspects of these proceedings, we do need to measure any commentary with a note of caution that we do not yet fully appreciate what the proceedings are contending. That said, it is not surprising to hear that Man City would wish to contest the APT rules as they now are, but one would suspect that even if such a challenge is successful, it ought not to alter the position in relation to most of the disciplinary charges which relate to the period prior to the APT rules being introduced.
“Whether a win in these proceedings would give Man City some tactical litigation advantage, or moral high ground, that boosts their defence to the disciplinary charges is another matter – it certainly would not harm them.”

The 25-year-old French superstar will be joining Los Blancos as a free agent this summer, having agreed a five-year contract with the club.
While there may be no transfer fee involved in his signing, Real Madrid will be paying the forward a mammoth €100 million signing bonus. On top of that, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner would earn around €30 million per year in salary, before taxes.
Real Madrid expect huge windfall
So, while Mbappe’s signing will be a strain on the pockets of Real Madrid, a report from AS claims that the club expects the Frenchman’s arrival will ‘pay for itself’.
Indeed, one of the missions from the Bernabéu offices will be to activate all the formulas to make the arrival of a global icon of this calibre profitable.
Sources say that Real Madrid can ensure ‘a very high return on investment, close to €500 million’, if they activate formulas related to sponsorship, merchandising, and social networks.

Mbappe, who is associated with brands such as Nike, Oakley and Hublot, earns around 20 million per season from sponsorship. Each Instagram post of his can generate €85,000 for him.
It will be a question of what percentage of those rights he is willing to cede to Real Madrid, a club that has always based its return on major signings partly on the commercialisation of those signings.
It is possible that the sponsorship deals signed prior to his arrival will be respected and a portion of those agreed after his arrival will be secured.
What is clear is that, whatever the percentage, the Real Madrid brand is revalued with the arrival of a global star such as Mbappe
The 2023/24 season proved to be a memorable one for Andriy Lunin at Real Madrid as he finally had a proper breakthrough with the Spanish capital club.
Even though he has been at the club for years now, the Ukrainian international was initially farmed out on loan and then played second-fiddle to Thibaut Courtois.
Man City sue Premier League over ‘discrimination’ and date set for unprecedented hearing
Manchester City have accused the Premier League of ‘discrimination against Gulf ownership’ in relation to ‘success-stifling’ rules approved by their rivals.
The Premier League champions are campaigning for the removal of the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules, as per The Times.
City claim the rules – which were introduced following the Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle United – are unlawful and were approved by rival clubs in an attempt to stifle their success.
It’s argued the rules are designed to stop clubs from inflating commercial deals with companies that boast links to their owners.
Instead, sponsorships have to be independently assessed and will only be approved if they’re considered ‘fair market value’ (FMV).
As such, the Manchester-based outfit will seek damages from the Premier League at a hearing set to take place next week.
And if they’re successful with their claim – which the report states some clubs are fear they will be – it would allow the Blues to boost the amount of money they can raise via commercial deals.
In turn, that will give the club more scope to spend big on players, at a time when teams elsewhere are struggling to operate under strict Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Pundit says he absolutely loved what he saw from one Man City player last night
Rob Green heaped praise on one particular Manchester City player after what he did while on international duty last night.
After the latest season came to an end with the Citizens winning a fourth Premier League title in a row, the focus for a lot of City players has now turned to the upcoming European Championship in Germany.
While the tournament isn’t set to kick off until the 14th, which will see the hosts take on Scotland for their first group game, numerous friendly matches are taking place this week to help the nations get their teams ready for the main event.
Now though, one specific City star, who could be in action for his country over the summer, has found himself on the end of some praise for his efforts in a recent international friendly game.

Speaking on Channel 4 (via BBC Sport) after seeing Trent Alexander-Arnold score England’s second goal of their 3-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina last night, Green had this to say about it and the cross from Jack Grealish that led to the goal.
He said: “The biggest smile in Newcastle. He’s fed up of supplying them, he’s going to take them.
“A brilliant bit of vision from Jack Grealish. It’s outside of the post, it is perfect from Trent Alexander-Arnold.”
Grealish impressed in latest England appearance
With 63 minutes on the clock, with the score at 1-0, the City winger replaced Eberechi Eze and saw out the remainder of the match.
During his time on the pitch, the 28-year-old had 22 touches of the ball in total, accurately completing all 15 passes he attempted and making two key passes as well.
Grealish also drew two fouls and won two of the four duels he was involved in.
In terms of his assist for Alexander-Arnold’s goal, the City star delivered a deep cross to the back post to find the Liverpool full-back, who found the back of the net with an impressive volley to double England’s lead on the day.
This cameo performance earned Grealish an overall match rating of 7/10 from SofaScore, which is higher than the match ratings Marc Guehi (6.7/10) and Ollie Watkins (6.6/10), who both started the game, earned for themselves.
With all of that in mind, it’s safe to say that the winger had a successful cameo appearance in this latest England victory, which should put him in a good position to be included in Gareth Southgate’s final squad for the upcoming tournament.
Real Madrid have a player who really wants to sign for Man City, Pep Guardiola’s side aren’t as keen
It has been reported that one Real Madrid player is more interested in signing for Manchester City than they are in securing his services.
Real Madrid have one of the best squads in Europe and a majority of the talent at their disposal would stroll into most teams in the continent — explaining their dominance in the Champions League over the past decade.
But the same can be said for Manchester City, who have top players across every position — making their transfer requirements very specific.
Real Madrid star keener on Man City move than they are in signing him
In the summer transfer window, as is usually the case with City, they will focus on bringing players in who fit Pep Guardiola’s philosophy — especially considering he has been rumoured to leave the club in 2025.
If the Sky Blues struggle to spot such talent on the market, it is unlikely that they will sign a player just for the sake of it, unlike other top European clubs.
However, it has been revealed by The Athletic that the player in question is Rodrygo, to whom the idea of signing for Manchester City appeals more to than the club itself.
Man City summer transfer window 2024: Confirmed signings, departures, loan exits and releases
On Friday, it was claimed that the Brazilian has no interest in leaving Real Madrid, with him and his representatives considering their project the best in the world.
Manchester City must change Rodrygo stance
In our view, Manchester City must veer away from their current stance on Rodrygo and make him one of their main transfer priorities.
With the two-time Champions League winner being only 23 and having a contract at Real Madrid until 28, any club trying to secure his services would have to stump up a handsome fee.
However, Rodrygo is the calibre of player who justifies being a big-money signing and he would fit like a glove at Manchester City.
The former Santos attacker is capable of playing on both flanks at a high level and alongside Jeremy Doku, he could form a potentially legendary wing duo. City currently only have one natural winger on their books in Doku and Rodrygo is a far more established and polished player than him.
The silky dribbler is also well-capable of playing as a striker and he could give Pep Guardiola the option to deploy him centrally in the absences of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
There are not many players of the quality, versatility and winning experience Rodrygo has at such a young age.
If the three-time La Liga winner is genuinely open to signing for the Sky Blues, they should pounce at the opportunity to make the deal a reality.

Atletico Madrid make initial contact to sign Manchester City player – Shock move could be tempting
Atletico Madrid have a ‘great desire’ to sign Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez, according to Marca.
The La Liga side are in the market for a striker, and their focus is on the 24-year-old. They are aware it won’t be easy to negotiate a deal with the Citizens, but efforts are ongoing to try to sign him.
Alvarez has a long-term deal [until 2028] at Manchester City, and Atletico are unlikely to match his salary demands. This hasn’t put them off.
Pep Guardiola has favoured Erling Haaland ahead of Alvarez in the last two years, and Marca say Los Rojiblancos will use the lure of regular playing time to tempt him to join them.
The Argentina international could consider leaving Manchester City, more so if they were to bring in a new attacker in the summer window.
Marca say Atletico have made first contact to find out if the World Cup winner favours joining them, but there have been no discussions with Manchester City so far.
Atletico’s Nahuel Molina, Angel Correa and Rodrigo De Paul have informed Alavrez of the advantages of representing the club. The trio could also try to find out if he’s willing to join them in Madrid, having those chats during the Copa America.
In short, Simeone’s side are aware it’ll be a complex operation, but they are going to give it a try. They have taken the first step by initiating contact with Alvarez’s camp.

TRANSFERSManchester City ‘firmly focussed’ on £100 million midfielder – Two first-team stars could be involved in ‘compromise deal’
Officials within the Etihad Stadium remain ‘firmly focussed’ on the signing of Newcastle United and Brazil international midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
The 26-year-old is widely expected to be at the centre of somewhat of a transfer scramble in the coming months, with a number of clubs admiring his abilities and some keen to take advantage of the fact that the Magpies are held to a nine-figure release clause.
While some clubs may not be willing to trigger such a clause at its £100 million valuation, there is likely to be negotiations to be had over offering a deal that comes close to such an amount or appeals to Eddie Howe and his coaching staff in terms of makeweight personnel.
Manchester City are one of those clubs, alongside their Premier League title rivals for the last two seasons Arsenal, with a number of uncertainties within their first-team midfield ranks as the summer market approaches.
Bernardo Silva continues to hold some uncertainty over his future, having eyed a move away from the Etihad Stadium for the last three seasons, while Kalvin Phillips is highly likely to find a way out of the club on either a permanent or temporary agreement.
Now, according to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, Etihad Stadium bosses remain firmly focused on signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United this summer.
However, while it has been well-documented that the Brazilian international has a £100 million release clause valid the end of June, both the midfielder and Manchester City are hopeful of a ‘compromise deal’, as per the

Sergio Aguero reacts with four words fans will love as Manchester City send birthday message

Manchester City sent a birthday message to Sergio Aguero at the weekend, and the Etihad Legend gave a response fans will love.
Manchester City recently secured their fourth straight Premier League title, beating West Ham United on the final day of the season to edge out Arsenal.
That was Pep Guardiola‘s sixth as City manager, and the eighth in the club’s history.
The very first, of course, came back in 2012 – and it could not have arrived in more dramatic fashion.
City fans will never forget the emotions of going 2-1 down against QPR, before turning it around to win and break Manchester United hearts.
The man responsible for arguably the most famous Premier League goal ever was Sergio Aguero, and on Sunday he sent a message to City fans after seeing the club use it to mark his birthday…

There will likely never again be a final day quite like the 2011/12 Premier League season.
City had their noses in front heading to the final round of fixtures and on any other day, the team would have wiped the floor with strugglers QPR.
But there was a first league title at stake, and nerves were in the air.
City took the lead against QPR through Pablo Zabaleta, but the visitors hit back through Drjibril Cisse. The nerves then took hold, with Jamie Mackie giving QPR a shock lead. Meanwhile, United were leading against United.
City found a late equaliser though through Edin Dzeko, before potentially the most famous Premier League moment of all-time took place; Sergio Aguero collected a pass from Mario Balotelli and evaded a challenge from Taye Taiwo before lashing home at the near post.

Scenes of bedlam ensued, and Aguero etched his name into the City history books forever.
On Sunday, the club posted on X to mark Aguero’s 36th birthday, and simply had to share his famous goal. Aguero replied ‘Always in my heart’. He also added a blue heart for good measure.
What a player

It is lovely to see Aguero acknowledging the post from City, and he clearly still cares deeply about the club and the fans.
Quite simply, his goal against QPR in 2012 was one of the most extraordinary moments in the history of football.
He will forever be adored by City fans for that moment alone, but of course, he was a sensational player during his 10 years at the club.
Undoubtedly, he is one of the greatest strikers the Premier League has ever seen. Not only was he lethal, but he was also a brilliant technician and creator, as evidenced by his 65 assists for the club.
He was truly fearsome, and it was a pleasure to see him don the sky-blue shirt.

Cody Gakpo is loving life at Liverpool as he now targets personal and collective success in his second year at the club.
Thursday marked exactly 12 months since an agreement was reached for the Dutch forward’s transfer from PSV Eindhoven, marking the beginning of his journey at Anfield that has seen him score 14 goals from his half-century of appearances.

Gakpo feels totally settled on Merseyside and credits the love given to him from the supporters as a reason for his quick adaptation period.
The No.18 told Liverpoolfc.com: “A year with obviously really good moments, some lesser-good moments, but I’m happy to be here and hopefully beautiful moments to come.
“I really feel at home and I think the club is amazing. It’s like a big family. The supporters are amazing every game and show love to all of us. I appreciate it and I love being here.”
On his aims for year two, the 24-year-old stated: “I hope to achieve a lot – on a personal level as well. But as a team we have big dreams and big goals. We are working on that.
“I think it always takes some time for every player in a new place to settle a little bit but I felt [at] home quite fast.
“It’s an amazing club and hopefully many more beautiful moments will come for me and for the team.”

Jürgen Klopp’s Reds currently sit top of the Premier League at the halfway point in the campaign.
They begin the new calendar year by welcoming Newcastle United to Anfield on Monday night, with Gakpo and his teammates looking to maintain their occupancy of first place.
He continued: “I think we are doing really good from the beginning of the season and we have a good group.
“This game, even though we are in first place, we just go into this game like it’s a really important game – like every other game.
“Of course it brings pressure to be in the top position in the league but I think we don’t see it like that. We are just really focused on that one game we have to play in that moment, and I think that’s also a strength of the team.
“They [Newcastle] have a really good team. Obviously we have to work really hard, we have to fight together, stick together even through the difficult moments maybe that will come in the game – hopefully not but it’s a world-class team as well.
“It’s hopefully going to be a great game with us on top at the end.”
