Liverpool have now won six consecutive Premier League matches after their last victory over Brentford.

Mohamed Salah scored the decisive first-half goal to see Liverpool retain fifth place in the table with a 1-0 win. The Reds are now just a point behind fourth-placed Manchester United but have played two more games.

Jürgen Klopp’s side had to work hard for their win over Brentford, with Bryan Mbeumo having a goal disallowed in the first half. And while finishing in the top four remains unlikely, Liverpool will do everything they can to win the remaining three games and see where it takes them.

Brighton (H), Leicester City (H), Chelsea (A)

Manchester United: West Ham (A), Wolves (H), Bournemouth (A), Chelsea (H), Fulham (H)

Having played three consecutive home games, most of Liverpool’s remaining games are now on the road.

Getting results in such matches has been perhaps the team’s biggest problem this season.

Leicester City and Southampton are both fighting for their lives at the bottom of the Premier League. By the time Liverpool play them they will all be determined to take the three points to maintain their top flight status and will have their fans behind them. For Newcastle, they face Arsenal on Sunday in what is far from an easy game as the Gunners still have title ambitions.

Next comes an away game against struggling Leeds United, who have a new manager at the helm in Sam Allardyce.

Then comes a home double against Brighton and Leicester in what looks like an easy win for Newcastle on paper. Their season ends with an away game at Chelsea, which has been a lottery for Stamford Bridge Club for a few weeks.
Moving on to Manchester United, and they have a relatively cheap run-in by comparison. Away games against West Ham and Bournemouth are joined by home games against Wolves, Chelsea and Fulham.

Klopp told his press conference that he expects Man United to get the eight points they need to guarantee they finish over Liverpool. Although it seems highly unlikely that the Reds’ bitter rivals will drop enough points, far stranger things have happened in football over the years.

Finishing in the top four remains a tough task for Liverpool, despite their recent resurgence in their last half dozen games. If they can maintain this form for their final games, they might have a chance, but that’s largely out of their hands.

‘He’ll be on the market’: Journalist expects Liverpool to sell 26-year-old player this summer

Liverpool are expected to sell Nat Phillips this summer after making just five appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season.

According to journalist Dean Jones, the 26-year-old will be one of many players Liverpool look to sell this summer in what is expected to be the largest squad overhaul in Jurgen Klopp’s tenure at the club, with Phillips linked with an exit from Anfield for some time.

The transfer insider said: “I don’t see a future for Nat Phillips at Liverpool beyond this season. There’s almost an expectation that he’ll be on the market. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. I think he’s a good player who could offer a lot to the right team.”

Phillips enjoys cult hero status at Liverpool after playing a key role for the Reds in the 2020/21 season as the centre-back guided the Merseyside giants to a top-four finish despite injuries to key players such as Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

Yet at 26, the time is now for the defender to leave Anfield and forge a career for himself away from Liverpool’s backup squad, with the likes of Caoimhin Kelleher, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all expected to make similar moves this summer.

Phillips arguably left it one year too late to leave Liverpool after impressing for AFC Bournemouth last season in their promotion-clinching campaign, yet with the defender choosing to stay, the centre-back might be aware now that he made a mistake in remaining on Merseyside.

Fast forward to this summer, and Liverpool’s decision to sell Phillips could not have come at a more ideal time for the 26-year-old, who needs to find a club where he will be an established starter having proved his worth under Klopp over the last three seasons.
