Liverpool “will bring in players” and “WILL be stronger” vows Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp is confident Liverpool “will bring in the players we want” this summer, with the club facing its most important transfer window in some time.

The Reds are finishing the season strongly but we all know eyes are well and truly cast to what lies ahead in the summer and who the club will sign.

Midfielders are at the top of the list and the three that are attracting the most attention in reports are Brighton‘s Alex Mac Allister, Chelsea‘s Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich.

While Klopp will never be drawn into names in a public forum, he spoke strongly in his extended press conference about the window ahead as he was challenged on whether rivals will place a premium on players they target.

“We will bring in players,” Klopp insisted. “I am pretty sure we will bring in the players we want and the players who help us. I’m pretty confident in that.

“You never know 100 percent until they sign but that’s not new to us.

“We cannot buy the player then [if price tag inflates],” he laughed dryly. “If they are overpriced, we cannot do it.

“Some clubs may try that [increase the price], I don’t know, but let me say it like this, if you identify a position you don’t have only one option in the position.

“They should all be good. You may have a favourite, but if the other club then doesn’t want to sell or somebody else will pay the price, then we cannot go with that.”

There was a strong conviction in Klopp’s words along with his regular pragmatism on the subject of transfers, clearly showing confidence in getting the job done.

It is no secret that the manager wants business done as early as possible as he looks forward to a “proper pre-season” where “we will be stronger.”

New signings, players returning from injury and a  you training block will help build on the “promising signs” Klopp has seen from his current squad as they close out the season strongly.

It is a big summer of change ahead at Anfield and there is clearly optimism within the ranks, now time to get the deals over the line.

Arsenal could offer €70 million for 20-year-old La Liga midfielder also on Liverpool radar

Arsenal could break the bank with a €70 million offer for the 20-year-old Valencia CF midfielder Yunus Musah.

According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of Yunus Musah. The 20-year-old American midfielder has been doing wonders for the last few seasons. And, his performances haven’t gone unnoticed. A lot of top clubs from across Europe are keen on having him in their ranks.

Musah was a part of the Arsenal youth setup from 2012 to 2019. He came through the ranks at the club but things were not really working out for him. As a result, he decided to move to Spain. Valencia acquired his services in the summer of 2019.

The 20-year-old got off to a flying start at the Spanish club. He made it to their first team in a year’s time. The American international has been a key part of their first team for the past few seasons. He has featured in a total of 104 matches and has eight goal contributions.

As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the 20-year-old has featured in 34 matches and has two assists to his name. While his numbers might not be that great, Musah has been the mainstay of their team. And, he has been putting in consistent performances in the centre of the park.

Meanwhile, he is on the radar of the Gunners. Arsenal are keen on re-signing him. And, as per reports, they are willing to spend around €70 million for the American international.

Mikel Arteta is keen on bolstering his midfield ahead of next season as he looks to push for the Premier League title once again. And, with the Gunners all set to feature in the Champions League, they do need a lot more quality to be competitive in both competitions.

Musah could be a great acquisition for Arsenal as he is a versatile player who can feature in numerous positions. The 20-year-old is capable enough to feature anywhere in the midfield and can also be deployed as a winger if needed.

However, he is not their first priority. The Gunners will push for Declan Rice in the summer as they look to strengthen their midfield. But, they are well aware of the amount of competition for his services. And, if they fail to land the West Ham United midfielder, Arteta’s men will shift their focus towards the 20-year-old.

But, they will face competition from Liverpool. The Merseyside club are keen on a midfield overhaul in the summer as they look to revive themselves. Jurgen Klopp’s team will push for multiple midfielders in the upcoming window and Musah is one of the names on their transfer target list.

With Liverpool and Arsenal set to lock horns, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Liverpool could revisit Real Madrid star in surprise $44m transfer plan to find Joël Matip heir

It is likely to be a summer of major change at Liverpool as a number of first-team players look set to depart the club and several stars will likely arrive. One former Premier League star could be an unlikely but certainly rousing option for Jürgen Klopp.

Given the number of outgoings expected in midfield at the end of this season, it is expected that addressing this problem area will be high on the agenda for Reds recruitment chiefs. However, close behind will likely be the need for fresh reinforcements at center-half, with a couple of long-term servants potentially heading for the exit door this summer.

In the case of Joël Matip, it would not be a major surprise to see him moved on in the upcoming transfer window, while Nat Phillips could well depart to seek regular first-team football. Moreover, although the first-choice partnership of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté seems pretty set in stone, it is worth noting that both have been absent for large chunks of this campaign, while the form of backup Joe Gomez has been unconvincing this term.

All of these factors considered, a new signing at center-half may well be in order, as Klopp looks to revamp his squad in the coming months. In this vein, one player who may well be of interest to the Liverpool boss is Real Madrid’s Antonio Rüdiger.

According to El Nacional, the former Chelsea player, who turned 30 in March, rejected the advances of Klopp to sign for his current employers last summer on a free transfer. Unperturbed by last year’s rejection, it seems that the 2021 Champions League winner could be a target again for Liverpool this summer to the tune of $44m (£32m/€40m), as per a fresh report from El Nacional.

The German defender has been a huge loss for Chelsea in the time since his departure, with the club currently languishing in a lowly 12th in the Premier League table, following six straight losses. That said, Rüdiger has certainly not had things all his own way since moving to the Santiago Bernabéu a year ago, with the 57-time international having struggled to hold down a regular place at the heart of Carlo Ancelotti’s defense.

Although the defensive rock has played 29 games in total in La Liga this term, only 23 of these were starts, with the Italian manager also having the likes of Éder Militão, David Alaba and Nacho at his disposal. It will not have been lost on Liverpool supporters either that the former Stamford Bridge star was only used as a substitute during both legs of the tie when the two sides met in the Champions League earlier this season.

In spite of his mixed debut campaign in the Spanish capital, his reputation in England will be largely undiminished, with Rüdiger still having excelled from a statistical perspective for Los Blancos. If one takes a closer look at his numbers this term, the defender has conceded an impressive total of 22 goals from 29 outings, which is equal to a goal every 97 minutes, according to FootyStats.

Furthermore, Ancelotti’s side has kept 10 clean sheets in 29 matches in La Liga this season while the German has been on the pitch. Moreover, he’s made 0.67 tackles and 0.67 interceptions for every 90 minutes he was on the pitch, while also racking up 2.53 clearances per 90 minutes.

Clearly, Rüdiger is an exceptional defender and his pedigree in the game means that he would be an asset for any side. With an experienced defender in the aforementioned Matip set to depart Liverpool this summer, perhaps it would make a lot of sense to replace the 32-year-old with a similarly battle-hardened defender.

On the surface, a deal for the Real Madrid center-half does appear unlikely. However, Klopp may find the prospect of adding a serial winner to his ranks hard to resist if Rüdiger is made available. If he could replicate his performances from his Chelsea days at Anfield, Liverpool would be gaining a truly world-class defender.
