Liverpool could offer Tyler Morton in a deal to acquire the services of Southampton defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia.
According to Football Transfers, Liverpool are keen on having Romeo Lavia in their ranks ahead of next season. The 19-year-old midfielder has been on fire in the ongoing season and is a huge prospect for the future. There are multiple clubs keen on having his services.
Lavia came through the ranks at Manchester City before joining Southampton ahead of the ongoing season. He has gone from strength to strength during this period.
While the Saints have struggled and are all set to return to the EFL Championship, the 19-year-old has impressed a lot of clubs with his consistent performances. And, he could be on his way out in the summer despite having a deal with the Saints that runs until the summer of 2027.
Liverpool are one of the club keen on having the teenage defensive midfielder in their ranks. The Merseyside club have struggled in the ongoing season because of an inconsistent midfield. Their manager Jurgen Klopp is keen on a complete overhaul in the centre of the park.
He will push for multiple players to revive his midfield as well as the club. The German manager’s priority is to sign a central midfielder. But, he also wants to add a young defensive midfielder to his arsenal. And, feels Lavia could be a great addition to their ranks for the present as well as the future.

The Saints are aware of the amount of interest in the 19-year-old’s services and they have set a price tag of £50 million on his services. There is a clause in Lavia’s contract that would allow his former club Manchester City to buy him back for £40 million in the summer of 2024.
So, selling the 19-year-old for a fee of £50 million in the upcoming window could surely benefit the Saints. Meanwhile, Liverpool who are looking to sign quite a few players in the summer want to lower the price. And, they are set to offer 20-year-old prospect Tyler Morton to Southampton in return for Lavia.
The Merseyside club believe Morton could help them lower the asking price and he is someone the Saints might be interested in. Morton is currently on loan at Blackburn and has done a decent job.
The 20-year-old is a versatile player who can feature in multiple positions and could surely help Southampton’s cause. As a result, it will be interesting to see if the Saints lower the asking price for the 19-year-old defensive midfielder.

Mo Salah: Liverpool have no excuse for missing out on Champions League
Mohamed Salah says Liverpool have “absolutely no excuse” for failing to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in six years.
The Anfield club already needed a miracle to claim a place in the Premier League top four this season but those faint hopes were dashed by Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Chelsea, which ensured their place in the competition alongside Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Liverpool – who have played in the Champions League every season since the 2016-17 campaign – have endured a turbulent campaign.
A late run of good form which saw Jurgen Klopp’s side win seven Premier League games in a row raised hopes that they could snatch a place in the top four but they must now accept a place in the Europa League.
A “devastated” Salah posted a message on his Twitter and Instagram accounts to say that he and his team-mates had let down supporters.
He wrote: “I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed.
“We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down.”

Missing out on the Champions League will have financial implications for Liverpool as they approach a significant summer rebuild.
They pulled out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund but have targeted Alexis Mac Allister and Mason Mount – who The Athletic revealed on Wednesday is now leaning towards moving to United – for possible transfers.
Liverpool confirmed last week that Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita were all leaving the club on free transfers.
