Danny Murphy has predicted Darwin Nunez to become a superstar for Liverpool this season, with the striker the hero last weekend against Newcastle United.

Writing for the Daily Mail, the former Liverpool player tipped the Uruguay international to explode onto the scene after a mixed first season with the Anfield side last year.

When asked to describe Nunez’s potential for Liverpool, Murphy said, “I think we’re about to see the best from Darwin Nunez. He’s going to be a superstar. Give him time.”

Having scored a brace for Liverpool from the bench last week against Newcastle, Nunez already looks like a new player for the Reds, with many expecting the striker to start today against Aston Villa.

And Murphy’s prediction on Nunez becoming a superstar could be on the money, with the forward looking like a whole different player based on what we have seen both this campaign and in pre-season.

Indeed, Nunez has all the qualities to become a bonafide superstar for Liverpool, and more big performances in the coming weeks will be key in the striker hitting his potential.

Nunez’s cameo for Liverpool against Newcastle is already a contender for one of the performances of the season, and there’s real reason to believe that the striker can hit new heights this campaign.

The 24-year-old is an agent of chaos when in form and one of the deadliest forwards in Europe, something we have seen little of so far during his time as a Liverpool player.

Yet this can all change very quickly in the coming weeks, and today against Villa could see the forward add more goals to his tally ahead of potentially becoming Liverpool’s most important attacker.

Pundit says Liverpool have made an ‘incredible’ signing this summer for the price

Liverpool ended up having one of the busiest windows ever as they were forced into rebuilding their midfielder.

Things went right down to the wire in the end as Ryan Gravenberch signed on deadline day to complete the rebuild.

However, earlier in the window, the Reds also landed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. And according to former Everton midfielder Leon Osman, one of those is the most underrated signing of the summer.

Osman says Alexis Mac Allister is most underrated signing by Liverpool
Speaking on Premier League productions, former Toffee Osman was asked about who he believed was the most underrated signing of the summer.

And answering the question, Osman said he believed for the money paid, Liverpool signing Mac Allister is the standout signing for him.

“I’m actually going for Alexis Mac Allister. I think 35-40m for a guy who has won the World Cup, I think he’s on an upward curve, his form is getting better. We talk about Tonali for £50m I just think for the price, it’s an incredible deal Liverpool have got done,” Osman said.

Osman mentioned Tonali after Shay Given had picked him as his signing of the summer previously. Interestingly on that one, Osman actually went for James Ward-Prowse.

Liverpool improved massively
While the losses of Henderson and Fabinho were big for the Reds, there can be no doubts now that Liverpool have progressed.

The signings of Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, and now Gravenberch mean this Reds squad now has energy, quality, and youth about it to go into the future.

At £35m, Mac Allister is indeed a bargain buy and over the course of the season, that should only become more apparent.
