Liverpool line-ups for West Ham as Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz decisions

Paul Gorst – Van Dijk and Nunez return to Premier League XI

After making 11 changes for Thursday’s win over LASK, Jurgen Klopp will surely be making another raft of them for the visit of West Ham United.

Alisson Becker replacing Caoimhin Kelleher in goal will be the first of many, while Joe Gomez can deputise for Trent Alexander-Arnold if the No.66 loses his ’50/50′ race to be fit for this one. Andy Robertson comes back in for Kostas Tsimikas, although Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate keep their places in the centre.

In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister might be asked to reprise his No.6 role alongside an in-form Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones. Ryan Gravenberch and Harvey Elliott can wait in the wings, if needed.

Up top, Mohamed Salah also returns but there’s starts for Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo can also stay coiled in case they are needed. Seven changes in totally

Ian Doyle – Number 6 position is tricky

West Ham at home at 2pm on a Sunday. If anything says Europa League, it’s this fixture today.

And Jurgen Klopp is going to rotate his resources once again, although perhaps not to the extent he did at LASK on Thursday.

Alisson Becker comes back in goal and Andy Robertson returns at left-back. The rest of the defence, though, remains the same with Joe Gomez right-back and the centre-backs Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

Midfield is all change. But that number six position is tricky. So let’s have two there in Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones, with Alexis Mac Allister given a chance to play a bit further upfield for once.

In attack, Mohamed Salah can return on the right, but Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have done enough to stay down the middle and on the left respectively

Sunday afternoon’s visit of West Ham United should give Liverpool the chance to flex their squad depth after being in Austria for Europa League commitments less than 72 hours earlier.

After making 11 changes for that Group E opener against LASK, Jurgen Klopp will, surely, ring the changes once more in L4 this afternoon.

In doing so, Alisson Becker will be restored between the sticks as Liverpool look to make it six straight wins in all competitions.

In defence, with Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to miss the Hammers’ visit as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, Joe Gomez will be handed his third successive Premier League start.

Alongside the versatile defender, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk return to Premier League duty, while Andy Robertson will continue his strong start to the new campaign as the Reds’ attack-minded full-back.

In midfield, It’s the recently tried-and-tested three of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones, with the Argentine tasked with bettering his performance in the West Midlands last weekend in the No.6 position.

Fresh from his first Europa League goal for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah continues his ever-present record for the Reds this season. Centrally Darwin Nunez gets the nod, while Luis Diaz, Luis Diaz starts on the left.

Back to the Premier League and back to full strength, 11 changes may not be required this time around but Jurgen Klopp will need to reinstate a good number of players for the visit of a tricky West Ham side.

Alisson Becker in goal is a given, then comes the major decision of the line-up. The boss may opt to start Trent Alexander-Arnold should he be fit enough, though I honestly see no point in rushing and aggravating the issue. I’d stick with Joe Gomez at right back and bring the vice-captain on late on should he make the bench.

The rest of the defence then speaks for itself with Andy Robertson on the opposite side with Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk keeping their places.

Then in my midfield Alexis Mac Allister starts in the deeper role with Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones ahead.

Finally in attack Mohamed Salah is a no-brainer. I’d also start Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz personally, but both playing the entire 90 minutes of Thursday’s game in Austria throws some scepticism into the mix. I’m sticking with those two, but at the same time wouldn’t be shocked to see either replaced by Diogo Jota or Cody Gakpo.
