Liverpool implored to submit ‘immense offer’ for ‘intelligent’ midfielder as ‘plan’ is confirmed

Liverpool have been warned they will have to make a massive offer for Borussia Monchengladbach to consider selling Manu Kone to them.

Kone has been one of Liverpool’s main midfield targets this summer, although an injury slowed down their pursuit. However, links with the Frenchman have recently picked up some pace again. In theory, he could become their fourth addition to his position after Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo.

However, Liverpool’s hopes of signing Kone have suffered a blow after the sporting director of his current club explained how they are planning to fend off interest in him.

“We don’t have to sell him,” Roland Virkus told Bild. “But it was always like this: if there is another immense offer, then we have to think about it.

“But that’s not the plan. Our plan is to keep Kone.

“Kone is a player who has something different, he gives you as a team a better balance in midfield. He’s coming back after the international break and he’s very important to us, a tough and intelligent footballer. We need stability in this position.”

Liverpool have been looking for some sort of stability there too after the position came under serious scrutiny last season. The three signings they have made so far have accounted for the exits of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WATARU ENDO

They have just over a week left of the summer transfer window to decide if they need a fourth new midfielder of the summer to slot in along with the new arrivals and existing players like Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic and Curtis Jones.

Liverpool keen on Kone potential

At the age of 22, Kone could be a long-term solution in the position. He has developed well across 60 appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach since joining them from Toulouse in 2021.

Last season was his busiest yet in a top division; only when he was playing in the French second tier for Toulouse did he make more appearances in a single season.

There are only two years remaining on his contract in Germany, though, so his current employers will have to be careful to make sure they sell him for the right price when the time comes.

Borussia Monchengladbach do not have any European football on offer this season, whereas Liverpool could give Kone a platform in the Europa League.

But their hopes of signing him seem to be at a standstill for the time being. Liverpool have been considering a range of other midfielders to put the cherry on top of their cake, so they might be able to find an easier alternative.

Liverpool ready to agree contract to sign £30million star – Offer made
Liverpool remain linked with Ryan Gravenberch and reports indicate they are ready to agree personal terms with the midfielder.

According to The Mirror, the Merseysiders have already tabled a contract offer to hire the services of the Dutch international this summer.

News – Liverpool prepared to offer £26m to sign £34m midfielder – Decision made

The news source have mentioned that even Manchester United have offered terms to the player, who can be lured for a fee of £22million.

Gravenberch left Ajax to join Bayern Munich for just £16million, he is just 21 and the Bavarians should seek for a decent profit to sell a multi-million pound asset like him.

As per famous German source, Bild, the Bundesliga champions would like a fee of £30million from the sale of the Oranje midfielder.

The former Eredivisie star already earns a gross salary of £200,000 a week and takes home £100,000 after tax and back in May, The Mirror revealed the figures would be no issue for Liverpool.

Gravenberch was an unused substitute in the DFL-Supercup final vs RB Leipzig and in the opening Bundesliga contest against Werder Bremen.

He lost his place in the Netherlands squad for the FIFA World Cup after warming the bench at the Allianz and fears he may be ignored by the national team for the European Championships next year if the situation does not change.

So, he must leave Bayern this summer. Erik ten Hag may have an edge over Jurgen Klopp in this transfer saga. The youngster excelled at Ajax under the current Man Utd boss and may prefer to reunite with him at Old Trafford over a move to Anfield.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United losing race to sign 19-year-old prodigy to PL rival

Brighton & Hove Albion are set to beat several Premier League rivals to sign Carlos Baleba as a deal with Lille inches closer.

According to 90 Min, Brighton & Hove Albion are close to agreeing a deal with Lille for midfielder Carlos Baleba. The 19-year-old prodigy had the interest of some of the biggest English clubs, with the Seagulls now set to beat their Premier League rivals.

Carlos Baleba’s emergence ensured Lille had a sufficient replacement for Amadou Onana, who left to join Everton last summer. The 19-year-old prodigy became a solid presence in their midfield for the 2022-23 season, and now he too could move to the Premier League.

After an impressive season in Ligue 1, plenty of Premier League sides had shown an interest right at the start of this window. Those included Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, among others, and yet, Brighton & Hove Albion seem to have the upper hand for the midfielder.

The Seagulls are now set to beat their Premier League rivals for the 19-year-old prodigy and sign him from Lille. Brighton has already submitted an offer, and the two clubs have an agreement in principle for £25.5 million including add-ons, which could see the move finalised in the coming days.

Beating Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool for a 19-year-old prodigy would have seemed unthinkable for a club like Brighton a few years ago. However, the Seagulls are a different animal in the transfer window and on the playing field as they grow in stature.

Arsenal may not necessarily need the midfielder after the arrival of Declan Rice. They are looking to offload a few of their current options, with Sambi Lokonga linked with a move to Brighton. Manchester United and Liverpool have different scenarios considering they still need someone in the middle.

Manchester United have links to Sofyan Ambrabat, while Liverpool remains in contact with Ryan Gravenberch over moves. The Merseysiders, in particular, may have moved away from signing a new holding midfielder for the time being after bringing in Wataru Endo from Stuttgart.

Manchester United may yet decide on bringing a new midfielder, although from the look of things, they could prioritise a new centre-back. With uncertainty brewing at their rivals, Brighton took up the opportunity to prise away one of the promising talents out of France.

Baleba could become the expected replacement option for Moises Caicedo, who left to join Chelsea in a British-record transfer. The 19-year-old could play a significant role under Roberto De Zerbi, as the Seagulls look like a team full of promise.
