Liam Cooper sends message as Leeds United exit now confirmed

Luke Ayling and Liam Cooper have taken to social media to respond to the news that Jamie Shackleton has left Leeds United.

This news has seen current and former teammates react to the news with the likes of Ayling and Cooper being joined by Pascal Struijk.

The Dutchman said: ā€œAll the best bro.ā€

The other two stars delivered more heartfelt and long-form messages with the Middlesbrough man saying: ā€œAmazing what you achieved at this great club. All the best in your next chapter my man.ā€

Cooper said: ā€œWas a pleasure mate. A top man who gave everything for our club. Wishing you nothing but success.ā€

Leeds United stars react to Jamie Shackleton update
The Whites are dealing with a rebuilding job this summer after they missed out on promotion to the Premier League at Wembley.

Losing to Southampton in the playoffs led to concerns that stars like Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter could leave.

This process has already begun with Archie Gray departing to join Tottenham in a move which has left Leeds fans gutted, to say the least.

With that deal, there was a silver lining with Joe Rodon coming in the other direction but Shackleton has now departed on a free transfer.

Archie Gray Leeds United

He didnā€™t feature much under Daniel Farke last campaign so a move away from Elland Road makes sense from his point of view.

It is frustrating to fans that they are losing academy prospects but it is fair to say that the Englishman wonā€™t be missed, as much as Gray, after a move to Sheffield United on a free transfer.

James agrees new two-year deal with the Lakers, with an option that.

DOHA: Veteran Kuwaiti footballer Bader al-Mutawa became the world’s most capped international player when he ran out against Bahrain in an Arab Cup qualifier in Doha on Friday.

For the 36-year-old striker, who scored two goals on his international debut in 2003, it was his 185th appearance with the national team, beating a record long held by retired Egyptian star Ahmed Hassan.
But many top players are well placed in the race to break Mutawa’s record.
Cristiano Ronaldo, 36, is set to mark his 179th international appearance this Sunday when he skippers Portugal against Belgium, the world’s top-ranked team, in the Euro 2020 round of 16.
Portugal scraped through after a 2-2 draw with France in Budapest on Wednesday, with Ronaldo scoring two penalties that allowed him to equal the all-time international record of 109 goals set by Iran’s Ali Daei.
Another competitor is Spain’s veteran defender Sergio Ramos, who has played 180 internationals but was excluded from the national squad for Euro 2020.
Mutawa started his international career on September 4, 2003, in an AFC Asian Cup qualifier at the age of 18 and 237 days.
Since his debut with the Gulf “Blues”, the Kuwaiti captain has faced 44 different national teams and scored 54 goals.
The 2021 Arab Cup is scheduled to run between November 30 and December 18 in Doha, a year before it plays host to the 2022 World Cup.

In a significant move to bolster their roster, the Los Angeles Lakers have secured a pivotal signing by acquiring Demar DeRozan for a reported $56.7 million deal. The addition of DeRozan, a seasoned NBA veteran known for his scoring prowess and versatility on the court, marks a strategic investment aimed at enhancing the Lakersā€™ competitiveness in the highly competitive Western Conference.

DeRozan brings a wealth of experience and talent to the Lakers lineup. As a four-time NBA All-Star, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to contribute both as a scorer and a playmaker throughout his career. Known for his mid-range shooting ability and adeptness in creating shots for himself and teammates, DeRozan is expected to complement the Lakersā€™ star-studded roster, which already includes superstars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The $56.7 million contract underscores the Lakersā€™ commitment to assembling a championship-caliber team. DeRozanā€™s signing not only addresses the teamā€™s need for additional scoring options but also adds veteran leadership and playoff experience to their roster. His presence is anticipated to provide valuable depth and stability, particularly in clutch moments during the postseason.

Coach Frank Vogel and Lakers management have expressed enthusiasm about DeRozanā€™s arrival, emphasizing his basketball IQ, work ethic, and ability to thrive under pressure. They believe his skill set will seamlessly integrate into their offensive and defensive schemes, enhancing their ability to contend with other elite teams in the league.

For DeRozan, joining the Lakers represents an opportunity to compete at the highest level and pursue an NBA championshipā€”a goal that has eluded him thus far in his career. His decision to sign with Los Angeles reflects his confidence in the teamā€™s potential and his desire to contribute to their quest for success in the upcoming season.

Fans and analysts alike anticipate the impact of DeRozanā€™s arrival on the Lakersā€™ roster dynamics and gameplay strategy. His ability to create scoring opportunities, coupled with his experience in navigating competitive playoff environments, positions the Lakers as formidable contenders in the Western Conference race.

As the NBA season approaches, all eyes will be on DeRozan and his integration into the Lakersā€™ lineup. His partnership with James, Davis, and other key players will be crucial in determining the teamā€™s chemistry and performance on the court. Lakers supporters eagerly await the opportunity to see DeRozan don the purple and gold jersey and contribute to the teamā€™s pursuit of adding another championship banner to the rafters of the Staples Center.

In summary, the Los Angeles Lakersā€™ acquisition of Demar DeRozan for $56.7 million signifies a strategic move to strengthen their roster with a proven scorer and seasoned veteran. The signing underscores the teamā€™s commitment to championship contention and sets the stage for an exciting and competitive NBA season ahead.

Former IU center Thomas Bryant rejoins Miami Heat on one-year deal
Alex Bozich4 hours ago inFormer Hoosiers

Former IU center Thomas Bryant, who recently declined his player option with Miami, is rejoining the Heat on a one-year contract.

According to Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun Sentinel, Bryantā€™s decision to opt out and then sign with the Heat resulted in salary cap savings for the franchise:

ā€œBryant over the weekend had opted out of the second year on the two-year contract he signed with the Heat last summer,ā€ Winderman wrote. ā€œThe machination of opting out of the $2.8 million option year and then returning on a one-year, $2.8 million deal resulted in a reduced hit of about $800,000 against the Heatā€™s 2024-25 salary cap, based on how minimum-scale cap hits are accounted.ā€

The 26-year-old Bryant played in 38 games for the Heat last season and made four starts.

The seven-year NBA veteran averaged 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per game. Bryant shot 57.7 percent from the field and 87.2 percent from the free throw line.

Bryant will be teammates with Kelā€™el Ware, the No. 15 pick in last monthā€™s NBA draft. Ware recently signed his rookie contract with the Heat.

Over his seven-year NBA career, Bryant holds averages of 9.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and one assist in 267 games. Heā€™s played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington, Denver and Miami.

The No. 42 pick in the 2017 NBA draft, Bryant has earned $31.3 million in his professional career.

A 2015 McDonaldā€™s All-American, Bryant played 69 career games at Indiana under Tom Crean. He helped lead the Hoosiers to an outright 2016 Big Ten championship as a freshman.

He started every game at Indiana and averaged 12.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 blocks.
