Tottenham deal in serious jeopardy as UK government ‘intervene to ask for proof’
Tottenham may face the possibility of their transfer being blocked by the UK government
Tottenham have been told that they need to prove to the UK government that their deal to send defender Davinson Sanchez to Russian club Spartak Moscow has not been funded by a source hit with sanctions due to the war in Ukraine. The Colombian had been the subject of a £13million bid to move to the Russian capital but there now appears to be a significant stumbling block.

The Sun have claimed that there is a chance that Spurs could be hit with a legal issue if they continue to discuss the sale, as Premier League chiefs are prepared to tell all clubs to avoid making such controversial transfer dealings with Russia. Sanctions were placed on the country after Vladimir Putin’s escalation of the war in Ukraine, which included freezing Russian assets in the UK and Roman Abramovic was forced to sell Chelsea.
The league hopes to avoid clubs doing business with Russian teams though legally they are unable to prevent such dealings, in line with guidance from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport – it would warn them to be mindful of the risks attached.
Clubs in Russia are banned from competing in Europe and the league has stopped broadcasting its games in the nation, while Russia were banned from the 2022 World Cup. However, league officials have received enquiries to understand whether there would be issues as a result of business dealings with Russians according to The Guardian.

Sanchez is expected to turn down interest from Spartak Moscow regardless, as he also has interest from the likes of Real Betis, Sevilla and Galatasaray after being deemed surplus to requirements in north London. New boss Ange Postecoglu looks set to move away from a three-at-the-back system and will sign a new centre-back to pair with Cristian Romero.
“We’re looking to bring in at least one,” Postecoglu said when asked about the possibility of centre-backs being signed this summer. “No frustration — it’s just the football world. I’ve been around long enough to know how it works. I wish it could be like my wife and Amazon where we get a delivery every day, but no frustration.”

Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba and Wolfsburg defender Micky Van de Ven are seen as the two most likely players to come into Spurs, with the Burkina Faso star expected to be the more expensive of the two.
Whether any deal depends on Sanchez’s exit remains to be seen, as a move to Spartak is not expected to materialise.
Romero, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Joe and Ben Davies are the current centre-back options Postecoglu has to call upon as the Australian boss will be hoping to get Sanchez out the door for a reasonable fee and sign a competent replacement.

£69m striker now interested in joining Tottenham, despite holding talks with Chelsea this summer
Photo of Miracle T Miracle T Send an email2 days ago0 135 1 minute read
Randal Kolo Muani is now interested in joining Tottenham – despite Chelsea recently holding talks with Eintracht Frankfurt about a deal.
That is according to Sacha Tavolieri.
So, what is the situation involving Randal Kolo Muani and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, it was L’Equipe who claimed that Chelsea are holding negotiations to sign the France international, after he enjoyed a simply remarkable 2022/23 campaign.
Kolo Muani scored 23 goals and also provided 17 assists in 46 appearances last season, putting his name up in lights in his debut campaign at Eintracht Frankfurt, following a free transfer from Nantes in 2022.
Now, the German side look set to make a huge profit on the 24-year-old, who is said to be keen on the idea of joining Chelsea’s rivals Tottenham.
Tavolieri – a respected journalist – believes Spurs have sounded out Kolo Muani as they prepare for life without Harry Kane, and talks over a deal worth €80m (£69m) have begun.
The Frenchman is attracted by the idea of joining Tottenham, and the interest coming from the north Londoners is described as “huge” by the Belgian journalist.
Chelsea cannot let Kolo Muani move to Tottenham
If Chelsea allow Kolo Muani to join Tottenham without putting up a serious fight for his signature, it would be a disaster.
The Bondy-born striker is a phenomenal talent, and if Kylian Mbappe did not exist, many would presumably be talking about the Eintracht Frankfurt No.9 a lot more in France.
Mauricio Pochettino has already lost Kai Havertz, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Romelu Lukaku will not be at Stamford Bridge next season either.
Of course, Nicolas Jackson has arrived and looks sharp in pre-season, although Chelsea need another striker, preferably one with more experience than the 22-year-old, to be truly competitive next season.
Kolo Muani would be a superb solution, but if he moves to north London instead of west London, Chelsea fans would have every right to be furious.

Tottenham now £13m step closer to sign professional centre-back
July 26, 2023 admin
Tottenham has identified their primary defensive targets.
Tottenham Hotspur have identified a Premier League-proven centre-back as a summer priority, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor, who updated GIVEMESPORT.
Spurs are looking for extra reinforcements, despite the fact that Ange Postecoglou has already made significant additions to his new-look club.
Tottenham Hotspur transfer information
Tottenham’s camp is buzzing ahead of the new season, with Postecoglou having infused a much-needed new breath of life at Hotspur Way.
Tottenham’s marquee signing thus far this summer has been the £40 million acquisition of James Maddison from Leicester City.

Maddison was part of Leicester’s relegation to the Championship last season, and the energetic midfielder is now hoping to impress at Spurs ahead of the European Championships next summer.
Guglielmo Vicario, the 2008 League Cup winners’ goalkeeper, has also signed a contract with the club, signing from Empoli for £17 million last month.
Whereas Manor Solomon, who caught the eye during a spell with Fulham last season, joins Tottenham on a free transfer, having suspended his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk, following a controversial rule introduced by FIFA which impacts players playing for clubs in war-torn Ukraine.
With three new faces through the door already, Postecoglou wants to add even more and a central defender is next on the former Celtic manager’s shopping list.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Daily Express journalist Taylor admitted that Tottenham were eyeing up a new addition at centre-back, with Tosin Adarabioyo one name high up on their shortlist.
On the 25-year-old defender, Taylor said: “There’s strong interest in Tosin, the Fulham centre-back who was left out of the squad to face Brentford in Philadelphia.
I think he’s a player that ticks the homegrown quota, he’s admired by Spurs and it looks like he can leave Fulham this summer, as he’s only got one year left on his deal. So I think they’re the two that will probably be the priority, Micky van de Ven and Adarabioyo.”
As alluded to by Taylor, Spurs are eyeing a cut-price deal for Adarabioyo this summer, as they look to add to their defensive options.
According to The Evening Standard, the north Londoners will attempt to capitalize on Adarabioyo’s desire to quit Fulham by signing the ex-Manchester City man for a reduced fee.
While there is no word on how much the Manchester-born defender will cost, Transfermarkt values Adarabioyo at £13 million, implying Spurs will not have to break the bank to sign him this summer.
Adarabioyo, who earns an estimated £40,000 per week, is out of contract at the end of the season and has showed no signs of extending his stay at Craven Cottage.
