Jurgen Klopp has been told Liverpool ‘must accept’ Mo Salah bid as ‘£290m offer submitted’
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been told the club could be forced to accept a second huge bid for Mohamed Salah.
Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad have already had a £150m offer rejected by Liverpool for the 31-year-old and are believed to have returned with a massive second bid.
It is claimed that they have offered an initial £170m for Salah which could rise to £215m with add-ons.
If the full amount is paid, it would set a new transfer record – surpassing the £198m PSG paid to Barcelona for Neymar in 2017.
A delegation from Al Ittihad touched down in the UK on Monday night and are hoping to agree a deal before the Saudi Pro League transfer window closes on Thursday.
Salah has reportedly been offered £2.45m a week to quit Anfield with extra incentives.
“He has been tempted with a large percentage of shirt sales, a £55,000 win bonus as well as ambassadorial roles for at least three major Saudi companies for the duration of his contract,” read The Sun’s report.
“That could be worth an extra £18m with each firm willing to pay him £6m each.”
Klopp has insisted Salah is not for sale this summer, claiming the club’s stance has not changed following their weekend win over Aston Villa.
“I’ve never had, and I don’t have now, doubts about his future, his commitment to this club,” Klopp told Sky Sports.
“Believe me, you can’t imagine how much fuss the whole world makes and how calm we are with it.
“He’s our player, he wants to play here and that’s it.”
However, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has admitted Liverpool “can’t turn down” a bid as high as Al Ittihad’s latest offer.
Speaking last week, he told Sky Sports: “When you look at what Harry Kane went for, about £100m, and he is a year or two younger but he only had a year to go on his deal at Spurs. Salah has two years to go, he looks after himself really well.
“For Liverpool to sell now, they aren’t going to want what he is worth, they will want more than that.
“He wouldn’t be worth £150m without the Saudi market, probably closer to £100m. But why have they left it so late? If they wanted him so badly, and they were prepared to spend the money, why didn’t they do it six months ago when they might have got him?
“It is up to Liverpool and it is up to Salah, he may not want to go. I think even for supporters who love him and don’t want him to move, if that number keeps going up and up, there is a stage where they can’t turn it down, and that would be £200m.”

LIVERPOOLLiverpool lining up move for PSG star Kylian Mbappe in 2024by JosephSeptember 5, 2023

Kylian Mbappe
Liverpool are eyeing a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe next summer if the Reds sell Mohamed Salah this week to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, according to L’Equipe.
The French outlet claims Mbappe is on Jurgen Klopp’s radar as a possible replacement for Salah and the Frenchman would consider moving to Anfield if the Merseysiders make a suitable offer for his signature.
Real Madrid, who are believed to be favourite to sign the France international when his contract expires in 12 months’ time, will face stiff competition from Liverpool.
Mbappe is one of the most sought-after forwards in the world following his impressive goal-scoring exploits for PSG since joining from AS Monaco in 2018 – initially on loan before making the move a permanent one.
The 24-year-old has scored 217 goals and recorded 98 assists in 263 games for the Ligue 1 side during his five-year stay at the club. He netted a whopping 41 goals and provided 10 assists in 43 matches across all competitions last season.
Mbappe played an influential role for PSG as they clinched the Ligue 1 title with 85 points, just one point above second-placed Lens.
Despite missing the club’s first league game of the new campaign due to his ongoing contractual issues, the World Cup winner has banged in five goals in three games.
Reignite interest in Mbappe
According to L’Equipe, Liverpool will revive their interest in Mbappe if Salah is sold. The Reds dismissed Al-Ittihad’s verbal offer worth £150m for Salah with Jurgen Klopp keen on keeping the 31-year-old this season.
The Saudi Pro League side are expected to make an improved bid of up to £200m in an attempt to lure Liverpool into selling the Egypt international before their transfer window closes on Thursday, September 7.
If Liverpool do sell Salah, the club would have enough funds to bid for Mbappe but it will be very difficult to sign him in the winter transfer window as PSG would not consider losing a key player in the middle of the season.
Mbappe is valued at £154m by Transfermarkt, however, Liverpool would have to break the bank to stand any chance of signing the world class forward next summer.

‘NOT LAUGHING’: IAN WRIGHT REACTS TO SCHMEICHEL SAYING LIVERPOOL SHOULD’VE SIGNED MAN UNITED ACE
Amir Mir
Tue 5 September 2023 21:30, UK
Peter Schmeichel thinks Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool should have signed Harry Maguire from Manchester United.
Liverpool need ‘top-end’ centre-back
It was suggested by Ian Wright that Liverpool needed to sign a ‘top-end’ centre-back this summer, before Schmeichel chirped in that it should have been Harry Maguire.
The name the Arsenal legend was putting forward was that of Manchester City’s new boy, Josko Gvardiol.
But legendary keeper Schmeichel made it clear that it’s easy to say teams like Liverpool and Manchester United need central defenders, but ‘who is that centre-half that is so good that he would go and play for that club’, as he asked on Premier League Productions (03/09/23 at 1:50 pm).
There was a lot of talk about Maguire possibly leaving Old Trafford this summer, but in the end, to the frustration of his own fans, he stayed put.
Nonetheless, Schmeichel cheekily suggested that the under-fire England defender is the answer to Liverpool’s lack of pro-active nature in building their backline under Klopp.

“Harry Maguire,” responded Schmeichel to Wright’s suggestion that Liverpool should have signed a ‘top-end’ defender.
Wright responded and laughed: “I don’t think so. You have just stopped my flow there. I’m not laughing at Harry Maguire, by the way.”
Schmeichel added: “At the end of the day, it’s easier to say that. You should have brought in a defender, but who? Gvardiol has gone to Man City. That was always going to happen.
“I agree (you have to go in). I think Manchester United should have done that as well. Every time there is a player of that quality, yes, they should go in. Liverpool, Man United and Man City. Everyone. Go in and compete for that player.
“There has been talk about bringing in a centre-half at Man United as well. But the next question is who? Where is that centre-half that is so good that he would go and play for that club.”

Liverpool’s backline is better than Man United’s
It’s more proven on the Premier League stage, and when everyone is fit, they have better quality players.
In truth, the fans of those clubs are probably happy with the starters from Lisandro Martinez to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
It’s what is behind them that is the issue and that’s where the club’s American ownerships – FSG and the Glazers – come under fire.
