Liverpool ‘keep in touch’ with Borussia Dortmund over Jude Bellingham ‘2024’

“NOT POSSIBLE FOR US” | JURGEN KLOPP DISCUSS SUMMER TRANSFER PLANS AND JUDE BELLINGHAM
Liverpool have re-opened contact with Borussia Dortmund following the signing of Jude Bellingham in the summer of 2024, according to a new report.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield over the past 18 months. But that was until Anfield officials decided to drop their pursuit of the former Birmingham City beneficiary in favor of a broader approach in the midfield’s much-anticipated rebuild this summer.

However, according to Football Insider, Jurgen Klopp hasn’t given up on landing at Bellingham in the summer of 2024 and Liverpool have reconnected with the Bundesliga leaders in hopes of reaching a future deal. The report claims the Reds ‘remain in contact with midfielf representatives and have made it clear that they want to move forward with a deal in 2024’.

Liverpool’s exit from the race to sign the England international should give Manchester City and Real Madrid an edge, with reports from Spain on Friday saying the 14-times European champions have received assurances Bellingham will next . at the Santiago Bernabeu summer.

At his press conference earlier this month, Klopp poured cold water on lingering hopes that Bellingham could become a Liverpool player this summer, admitting that sometimes you have to “accept and step aside” when transfers aren’t possible.

“I have nothing to say about it,” the Liverpool manager told reporters. “It’s not about Jude Bellingham, but I never understand why we talk about things we theoretically can’t have. We can’t have six players in one summer, all for £100m. This is obvious. You have to figure out what you can do and then get to work. This is your job.

“We are not children. If you ask a five-year-old what he wants for Christmas and he says, I don’t know, a Ferrari, you’d say it’s too expensive and you can’t drive it. Then if this guy was really unhappy because he didn’t get a Ferrari, it would be a very sad life.

“You see what you can do and you work at it. We do everything to get what we need and what we want, but there are times when we have to accept and step aside”.

Dortmund have put a price tag of around £130m on Bellingham following the teenager’s stunning performance at the 2022 World Cup.
