Man Utd move in to sign £149million Liverpool target – Report

Manchester United are looking to improve their defensive midfield position and the latest name in the lime light is Marco Verratti.

If reports in the French media are anything to go by then Man Utd have moved in to lure the Italian international, who is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

According to L’Equipe (via PSG Report), the Red Devils and German champions, Bayern Munich, have come forward to hire the services of Verratti.

The versatile 30-year-old, who can effectively play in the CM and DM roles, has an agreement with Saudi side Al-Ahli but they have yet to agree a fee with the Ligue 1 champions.

Last month, Marca (via Paisley Gates) revealed that Liverpool are prepared to sign the Azzurri star for whom PSG want a fee of 70 million euros (£60million).

As per L’Equipe (via GFFN), a move to Old Trafford cannot be ruled out for the veteran.

Verratti is a proven quality and decorated midfielder who has won 30 domestic titles in Paris. Moreover, he was a key member of the Italian squad that won the European Championships under the guidance of Roberto Mancini two years ago.

The 55-capped star has the experience to improve things in the center of the park for Erik ten Hag but Man Utd will have to offer ridiculous wages to convince him to turn down the interest from the Middle East.

As per Corriere dello Sport, Al-Ahli have agreed a contract that will make the player earn 50 million euros per season for the next three years.

Bid rejected for player Liverpool’admires’while $41m man turns down Manchester United transfer

Liverpool has its first win of the season after beating Bournemouth on Saturday — but it’s still clear Jürgen Klopp has work to do in the transfer market.

Newest signing Wataru Endo was handed his debut at Anfield as he came off the bench following the sending-off of Alexis Mac Allister, but Liverpool fans will be hoping the Japan international isn’t the last addition to be made this summer.

A younger option to battle with Endo for the number six role is ideally needed, while a new defender is also required to add back-up to Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté.

But with less than two weeks to go until the window closes, time is running out for Liverpool and its rivals to get deals over the line.

Among those that look as though they could be on the move in the coming days are a couple of players who have been linked with a move to Anfield, although both look to have hit hurdles in potential moves.

Here, Liverpool.com takes a scan around the other big sides in the Premier League and around Europe to take a look at the news going on at the other clubs.

West Ham bid rejected for Mohammed Kudus

West Ham has had a bid rejected for Ajax winger Mohammed Kudus, according to The Athletic.

The report claims the Hammers’ technical director Tim Steidten flew to Amsterdam on Thursday in order to try and secure a deal for the Ghana international. The offer failed to meet Ajax’s valuation, although Kudus is said to still desire a move away from the Netherlands before the end of the transfer window.

Liverpool.com says: It seems inevitable that Kudus will end up in the Premier League, it’s just a question of where. West Ham looks to be leading the way at the moment, although plenty of sides have been linked, with Liverpool (via Football Transfers and others) supposedly admirers as well.

Whoever does get him, the Reds might well keep an eye on his progress as a future transfer option. He is a versatile and technically gifted attacker, as the Reds found last season when he scored an excellent goal at Anfield.

Benjamin Pavard favors Inter Milan over Manchester United

Benjamin Pavard favors a move to Inter Milan over Manchester United this summer, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Inter is said to be challenging United for the French international, although the Italian side is struggling to strike a deal with Bayern Munich. The German champion has reportedly already turned down bids of $27m (£21m/€25m) and $33m (£27m/€30m), while Manchester United has tabled a bid of $41m (£33m/€38m).

Liverpool.com says: If Pavard is available, he could conceivably still be an option for Liverpool to consider. Ideally, the Reds need to sign a left-footed center-back, but Pavard’s versatility could potentially free up Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Besides that, the chance to hijack another Manchester United transfer would be very tempting…

Pundit urges Liverpool fans to ‘look out’ as ‘whispers’ around new midfielder grow louder – report

It’s not a surprise to see Liverpool linked with another midfielder at this point in the transfer window but it seems at this point that one name just won’t go away, when it comes to being touted as becoming our latest signing.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones reported: “I would also say that they’re not finished. They probably will sign another midfielder. Look out for this Amrabat stuff that is starting to do whispers.

“I’m not saying they will sign Amrabat, but I didn’t think there was anything in it at first, but now I don’t believe that is totally the case and they are trying to find out if Amrabat would consider joining another Premier League team that isn’t Man United.

“After being hijacked themselves for Lavia, maybe they hijack their rivals and sign their top target”.

Given the failure to secure the signings of both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, Jurgen Klopp had to reassess his needs for the campaign ahead and that led to the surprise signing of Wataru Endo.

Now the next decision will be whether we add another body to our midfield ranks, strengthen elsewhere in the squad or wait for the January window and see how we fare in the first half of the campaign.

When it comes to Sofyan Amrabat though, he’s a player that has been so often linked with a Merseyside move that we perhaps should think that he is at very least on our radar.

If we are to make another signing then the Moroccan World Cup star seems to be one of the most likely to do so and if we can upset Manchester United at the same time – few of our supporters would be too opposed to that!
