Liverpool are setting their sights on Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah, according to recent reports from Calciomercatoweb. This strategic move looks to be a part of the club’s long-term planning. Salah, who notched 19 goals last season despite Liverpool’s inconsistent form, has only two more years left on his contract. Clearly, the Reds are already thinking about life after their Egyptian superstar.
First, let’s look at Salah’s significance to Liverpool. Over the years, he became a part of Liverpool’s fabled attacking trio alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. But with Mane and Firmino gone, Salah stands as the last pillar of that famous formation. He’s already off to a flying start this season, converting a penalty against Bournemouth in the opening weekend. Still, the rumours have been swirling around Salah’s future, including the possibility of a big-money move to Saudi Arabia. Given the early chatter this summer, it’s not unreasonable to prepare for Salah’s exit.
Now, turn your attention to Leroy Sane. The German international has a current market value of €65 million. He has proven himself as a dynamic winger with excellent pace and dribbling skills, which he displayed impressively at both Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Additionally, Sane’s versatility would allow him to play on either wing, offering Liverpool multiple tactical options.
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s tactical genius, is reportedly a big fan of Sane. The German manager is well-known for getting the best out of his wingers, turning them into goal-scoring machines. Sane could, therefore, thrive under Klopp’s guidance. Moreover, Klopp’s style of high-press, fast-transition football complements Sane’s natural attributes perfectly.
However, the question of finance comes into play. Salah’s departure, especially if it’s for a lucrative fee, would provide the necessary funds for Liverpool to make a competitive offer. Otherwise, shelling out €65 million would require either a significant player sale or ownership dipping into their pockets.

Liverpool have also reportedly shown interest in Federico Chiesa from Juventus as an alternative. The Italian winger has a different style of play compared to Sane but is equally effective. While Sane relies more on pace and dribbling, Chiesa employs intelligent movement and is a more natural goal-scorer. Either would fit well into Liverpool’s attacking setup, making them both attractive options for Klopp.
The transfer strategy also signals a desire by Liverpool to avoid being caught flat-footed in future transfer windows. This summer, they struggled after the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. They faced inflated prices and even some embarrassing player rejections. By identifying targets like Sane and Chiesa early, Liverpool aim to get ahead of the curve.
So, what does all this mean for Liverpool fans? Well, the potential acquisition of Leroy Sane could be an exciting new chapter for the club. Yet, it would also signal the end of an era with the likely departure of Salah. It’s always emotional to say goodbye to a legend, but football is about evolution. In targeting players like Sane, Liverpool are proving they have one eye firmly on the future.

Liverpool’s reported interest in Leroy Sane doesn’t just reflect the club’s knack for forward-thinking. It also embodies the never-ending cycle of football, where legends depart, and new heroes rise. The potential transition from Salah to Sane would be fascinating to watch, offering fans a mix of nostalgia and excitement for what lies ahead.

‘Training on his own’: Boss hints ‘outstanding’ Liverpool midfield target will be leaving soon
Liverpool have been given hope of signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat after he was left out of their Europa League squad.
Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano has confirmed that Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat is now training on his own.
Liverpool landed one new midfielder on Friday as Wataru Endo completed his move from Stuttgart to Anfield.
The Reds are still hunting for another midfielder though and Fiorentina star Amrabat appears to be a key target.
Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad reported this time last week that Liverpool were ‘on track’ to sign Amrabat with a £30million deal agreed.
Fabrizio Romano then reported that a deal wasn’t agreed but Liverpool had held talks with both Fiorentina and Amrabat’s representatives.
The Moroccan star – described as ‘outstanding’ by former Manchester United star Roy Keane – appears to be a prime candidate for Liverpool.
Manchester United are also very interested as boss Erik ten Hag worked with Amrabat during their time together at Utrecht.
A premier League move seems to be on the cards and Fiorentina have now opened the door to a transfer.

Fiorentina are preparing to take on Rapid Wien in their Europa Conference League qualifying tie on Thursday.
Eyebrows were raised earlier on Wednesday when Fiorentina announced their travelling squad to Austria.
Amrabat was nowhere to be seen, with everybody of course expecting this to be transfer related.
There had been no reports of injury, illness or personal matters so Amrabat’s exclusion seemed strange.

Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano has now confirmed that Amrabat is training on his own back in Italy.
Italiano indicated that Amrabat will not travel to Austria with a transfer surely on the cards now.
If there was any other reason, this would have been the time to say it – but Italiano just indicated that Amrabat is training on his own.
This seems like the biggest hint yet that Amrabat is on his way out of Fiorentina with Liverpool now hoping to beat Manchester United to his signature.

Liverpool could play Merseyside derby against Everton without full stadium at Anfield
Liverpool may have to play their Merseyside derby at home to Everton at a capped capacity of 50,000 – well below the 61,000 capacity – due to construction delays

Liverpool’s reduced capacity at Anfield – due to a delay to the work on the redevelopment of the Anfield Road stand – could mean their Merseyside derby at home to Everton is played with a reduced attendance.
The Reds had initially hoped to debut their new stand in full – a construction which will take the capacity of Anfield to 61,000 at a cost of £80million – at their opening home game of the new Premier League season against Bournemouth – a match which has already been and gone.
The club are building a new Anfield Road Stand which will add 7,000 seats onto the iconic stadium’s capacity to take it up to 61,000. Yet the project has been hit by delays ever since work began in September 2021 but now the contractor Buckingham Group has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.
Liverpool had previously hoped that the upper tier of the Anfield Road Stand would be operational by October, but that is now in doubt after footage on social media showed that the contractors had been sent home amid uncertainty over the Buckingham Group.
The club’s chief executive Billy Hogan has now admitted that the re-opening date is “uncertain”. The Reds are at home to Aston Villa and West Ham in September which will be played at a capacity of 50,000 but the latest update suggests that the Merseyside derby at the stadium – scheduled for 21 October – will also be impacted.
“We’re in a bit of a holding pattern right now based on the news we got,” Hogan told Liverpool’s website. “That needs to reach its conclusion before we can truly start to take the next steps. It’s important that we don’t want to set any false expectations.
“We are in a bit of a holding pattern right now based on the news that we got on Thursday and that needs to reach its conclusion before we can truly start to take the next steps. But if Buckingham does enter into administration then we’ll need to address any delays that may arise from completing the new stand as a result of that.”
The new stand won’t be fully ready until at least October

Referencing the likelihood of an October re-opening, Hogan continued: “Obviously we talked about having the stand fully open in October, clearly we have discussed the uncertainly that this announcement creates.
“We are still aiming for October but what we’re working through now is to put a plan in place. I know this is incredibly disappointing and frustrating.”
