Jarrod Bowen claims £34m Liverpool player is even better than Alexis Mac Allister and Eden Hazard right now

Jarrod Bowen has been chatting about all things Premier League and had some high praise for a certain Liverpool star in doing so.

Bowen, who has actually been linked with a move to Liverpool himself, got onto the subject of best players in different positions when speaking to Sky Sports.

And when tasked with naming the best winger in the history of the Premier League, Bowen was in no doubt that the main man was Liverpool hero, Mo Salah.

Bowen says Mo Salah is even better than Eden Hazard
Speaking to Sky, Bowen touched on Chelsea legend Eden Hazard and dropped in Bukayo Saka and Riyad Mahrez.

But in the end, it was Salah who got his vote as the best winger in PL history.

“Salah. The numbers he produces every year. He’s won Champions League and Premier League titles and scores 20 goals a season, every season,” Bowen said.

“Hazard was a joke but for me, the way I play as well, probably a bit more biased towards a left footed winger and who you want to base your game of. He’s the benchmark… Salah for me, he’s done it every year as well. For me, the way I play as well, I’m probably a bit more biased. Salah obviously, Saka as well.”

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Of course, Bowen might actually end up replacing Salah if things pan out in a certain way at the end of the season.

Liverpool have got one of the best to ever do it
Bowen answers the question on best wingers here but Mo Salah is simply one of the best players to do the business in England. Simple as that.

It’s quite amazing that he was initially at Chelsea before going and finding his feet elsewhere and then coming back to Liverpool to produce the goods how he has.

Salah’s form over a long period is what sets him out from a lot of other players. Everyone can have a decent season as a one off. But Salah does it every year and he’s doing it again this season.

When Salah eventually leaves Anfield, he will do so a legend. And rightly so as well.

David Moyes faces sack decision at West Ham United with Andoni Iraola tipped to lose Bournemouth job first
Andoni Iraola is the most likely Premier League manager to lose their job first but David Moyes is “on that ride with him” at West Ham, according to Graeme Bailey.

The 90min journalist said on the Talking Transfers podcast on 26 October that the winless Bournemouth boss is in most danger currently, but the Irons manager also looks set to leave the London Stadium sooner or later.

A loss to Everton on Sunday (29 October) could put him under pressure of an imminent exit, but with no contract extension yet “under consideration” despite a European trophy win in May Bailey believes that is a “really telling” sign for the long-term future of the Scot at West Ham.

Bailey said of Iraola (28m 55s): “He’s firm favourite to go first, but there’s others on that ride with him. David Moyes is one of them who, good start to the season but West Ham were woeful last week, absolutely woeful…

“There’s no sign of an extension just yet, it’s not under consideration. They spent an awful lot of money in the summer, and they had the Declan Rice money – fair enough, they spent it pretty wisely. James Ward-Prowse is playing well and [Edson] Alvarez is doing well in midfield.

“Mo Kudus is not really getting the game time he deserves, but what a huge game for them this weekend against Everton. West Ham, they’re not going to get dragged into trouble because this is a really bad-quality Premier League this year…

“I terms of managerial stuff I think Bournemouth with react first but if Everton beat West Ham this weekend where are West Ham going?

“It’s an interesting one to keep an eye on, David Moyes, the contract situation, the fans aren’t happy particularly. Although he won the Conference League I think a small majority wanted him to stay – 60/40, it wasn’t overwhelming.

“They saw what was coming because the football is just not good, and this is frustrating for West Ham because if you’ve got a team that has [Lucas] Paqueta, [Jarrod] Bowen, Kudus, Alvarez, Ward-Prowse, you shouldn’t be getting beaten 4-1 off Aston Villa…

“I think it’s really telling, you win a European trophy and you don’t get a new contract offer. I think that tells us everything we need to know about Moyes and his West Ham future, personally.”

Delaying the inevitable

Moyes is arguably a victim of his own success with the Hammers because he has elevated the fortunes at the London Stadium to a point where the club arguably needs to move on from him if they want to go any further.

It is undoubtedly a risk to do that but considering how poorly the Premier League season was last term, and how close he came to losing his job, it was unlikely to be entirely papered over by the trophy win.

That success can never be taken away from him, and the current era at West Ham will no doubt be looked upon fondly in years to come.

But if there were understandable doubts during the previous campaign’s struggles they were always likely to resurface if there was more difficulty this year.

A strong start to the campaign, following a surprisingly good end to the transfer window, helped strengthen Moyes’ position again.

But with results looking far more patchy of late, and with the usual frustrations over team selection, it won’t be long before questions start being asked.

Having got this close to the end of his contract it seems highly unlikely that he gets offered a new deal barring a storming season on all fronts, but unless he can recapture the early-season form it might be a question that gets answered some months before that.

In other West Ham news, a Hammers ace has named the Liverpool star he is hoping to emulate.

Liverpool star now expected to quit in 2024 after behind the scenes update
BY
HENRY JACKSON
PUBLISHED 7 HOURS AGO
What a huge blow this could be for Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool have made some fantastic signings in recent months but they now lose a hugely important player, according to a fresh transfer update.

Salah scoring at unstoppable rate
The Reds are in excellent form at the moment, shining in both the Premier League and the Europa League, and someone who has started the season in fine form is Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian superstar continues to score goals at a relentless rate, netting nine times in all competitions in 2023/24 to date, and he completed the rout on Thursday night as Liverpool won 5-1 at home to Toulouse in Europe.

Salah’s future at Liverpool has been up in the air of late, however, with lots of interest shown in him from Saudi Arabia in the summer transfer window, and Al-Ittihad seeing a £150m bid turned down for his services.

His current deal expires in the summer of 2025, but the Reds would lose him in a free transfer at that point, meaning that a move away in 2024 feels far from out of the question.

Salah expected to leave Liverpool in 2024
Now, Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke has dropped a Mohamed Salah update, claiming that a move to the Saudi Pro League increasingly looks on the cards:

“Mohamed Salah is increasingly likely to quit Liverpool next year with Saudi Pro League officials working behind the scenes to sign both him and fellow superstar Kevin De Bruyne, sources have told Football Insider.

“League chiefs are eyeing their next statement of intent having already lured the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema to the Middle East. And a well-placed source has now told Football Insider that Salah’s move from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia is ‘expected to go through’ next year.”

This is a hugely concerning update for anyone of a Liverpool persuasion, considering what a one-off Salah is as a footballer, producing incredible levels of attacking consistency over the past six-and-a-bit years at Anfield.

Salah’s statistics highlight precisely why he is seen as one of the best attacking players of his generation, scoring 195 times in 317 appearances, meaning he is now in fifth place in the Reds’ all-time list of legendary goalscorers.

There will be some fans who feel that Liverpool should cash in on the Egyptian King next summer, considering the money they would receive for him and the fact that he would be 32 at that point, but he is still their best attacker and can remain at the top for the foreseeable future.

The hope is that Salah decides it is too premature to move to Saudi Arabia at this point in his career, but it is easy to envisage him wanting to go there and become the poster boy for one of world football’s newest and richest leagues.

Jurgen Klopp extolled an ‘incredible’ Darwin Nunez performance in Liverpool’s victory over Toulouse.

The Uruguay international bagged Liverpool’s third goal when he slammed home a half-volley in the 34th minute. Nunez thought he had doubled his tally in the second period when he skipped past a Toulouse defender then rounded the keeper but saw his shot hit the post. Ryan Gravenberch finished the rebound.

Klopp, speaking at his post-match press conference, insisted he ‘couldn’t care less’ that Nunez spurned the chance. The forward is now on five goals in 12 appearances this season and the Liverpool boss is encouraged bu the progress Nunez has made.

“He played incredible,” said Klopp. Honestly, in this moment, I couldn’t care less that he hits the post in that moment because everything before was super-convincing, was absolutely clear.

“How he took the defender away, how he passed the goalie, it was a perfect situation. He played really good. The goal he scored, the situations he was involved in, dropping into midfield, staying on the ball, all these kind of things. There were a lot of good things and he’s in a good moment and that’s for us obviously important.

“Really pleased for him with the performance. Yes, it’s a bit of slapstick that the ball doesn’t go in and then Ryan finished it off, that is cool. I said it before the game, he’s a happy boy or man in the moment and you can see that every day. And now we have to make sure that it stays like that.”

The top two in Europa League Group E meet at Anfield on Thursday night when Liverpool host Toulouse.
While the Reds will be looking to maintain their perfect record this year and in the group stages, Les Violets also remain unbeaten and could go up with a famous win on Merseyside.

Match preview

After dropping points in their last two Premier League games before international action begins, Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Merseyside side Everton at Anfield last weekend.

Ashley Youngand#039’s first-half save certainly played into Liverpool’s hands, but they had to wait until the 75th minute for Mohamed Salah to shoot offside from the penalty spot before the Egyptian hit another counter-attack. attack deep into the deadlock to help the Reds maintain their position in the top four. Jurgen Kloppand#039’s side feel they have the chance to build on their Derby victory over the Toffees with favorable games against Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Luton Town on the horizon, but they must first focus on the Europa League. They will face Toulouse for the first time since a 5-0 aggregate victory in the 2007 Champions League qualifier against Toulouse on Thursday.

Liverpool have won their opening two games in Group E. LASK beat Linz 3-1 on the first matchday, followed by a routine 2-0 home win against Union SG three weeks ago to extend their Europa League group losing streak. 10 for the match.

The Reds, who have won all six games at Anfield this season and lost just two of their last 15 European home games against French opposition, can move within five points of second-placed Toulouse with a win on Thursday. they were firmly in control in the middle of Group E.

Toulouse extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to four games when they salvaged a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Reims in Ligue 1 last weekend.

Thijs Dallinga scored his second home goal in as many home games to narrowly cancel out Amir Richardson’s opener just three minutes earlier and Les Violets finally settled for their fifth league level of the campaign. Ligue 1 with Rennes after nine games. Also this season with two wins and two losses, Carles Martinezand#039; men after 2023-2024 from a mixed start to the 2018 campaign, surprisingly finished mid-table in Ligue 1, just three points above the top three and four points away. of places in Europe.

Competing in Europe for the first time in 14 years, Toulouse resume their Europa League duties on Thursday after picking up four points from their opening two Group E games. Union SG drew 1-1 on matchday one followed by a narrow draw. Three weeks ago, LASK beat Linz 1:0 at home.

Les Violets, winless in their last five away games in all competitions, go into Thursday’s contest at Anfield as significant underdogs, but success at Liverpool would make it European wins in the same league for them. season for the first time since 1987–88, when Panionios were beaten home and away in the first round of the UEFA Cup.

Team news

Liverpool will be without Andrew Robertson (shoulder), Thiago Alcantara (thigh) and Stefan Bajcetic (calf) through injury, while teenage striker Ben Doak (muscle) is also out, while Cody Gakpo (thigh). training, but it is still uncertain and will be evaluated before starting.

Curtis Jones is expected to return after serving the second of his three-match home ban last weekend and the midfielder could replace Dominik Szoboszlai in the starting line-up, while Wataru Endo will compete with Alexis Mac Allister in deep midfield. role Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah are all expected to start in defence, while Darwin Nunez hopes to return to the front three at the expense of either Luis Diaz or Diogo Jota, the latter of whom has scored seven goals. goals in the last six Europa League games.

Toulouse’s Zakaria Aboukhlal and Oliver Zanden are both sidelined with ankle and hip injuries, while Thursday’s game may come too soon for summer signing Ibrahim Cissoko, who has yet to make his debut this season due to foot problems. .

However, Stijn Spierings is in the squad after serving a one-game domestic ban last weekend, and the Dutchman is expected to return to the first team, replacing either Vincent Sierro, Niklas Schmidt or Cristian Casseres Jr. in midfield.

Logan Costa is also expected to return after missing the last Europa League game against LASK Linz through suspension, with the centre-back continuing in the heart of the defense alongside Rasmus Nicolaisen.

Liverpool’s possible starting line-up:

Alisson; Alexander Arnold; Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Jones, Endo, Gravenberch; Salah, Nunez, Diaz

Possible starting lineup for Toulouse:

In grids; Keben, Costa, Nicolaisen, Suazo; Spierings, Sierra, Casseres Jr; Donnum, Dallinga, Gelabert

We say: Liverpool 2-0 Toulouse

Liverpool cannot take Thursday’s opponents lightly as Toulouse remain unbeaten in Group E and have held both Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille in Ligue 1 this season. However, the Reds should have too much quality for their French counterparts, even if Klopp decides to rest some first-team stars, and we expect the hosts to get a routine win to take them a step closer to the play-offs. . circles
