Jamie Redknapp says that what Alexis Mac Allister did after World Cup win is why Liverpool want …

Jamie Redknapp has praised the attitude of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister after his performance in the 1-0 win over Manchester United on Thursday night.

Mac Allister has emerged as a priority target for Liverpool in the summer and his all-action showing against Erik ten Hag’s side was evidence why.

The 24-year-old was a key member of the Argentina side who lifted the World Cup in December and has returned to Premier League action and got straight back to work.

understands Liverpool have placed the Argentina star high up their list of midfield priorities for the summer and former Red Redknapp believes it is easy to see why.

“There’s a number of reasons that players are courted for different clubs,” Redknapp said after Brighton’s draw with United. “It’s not just sometimes their ability, word spreads about someone who’s a good guy – a really good human being – great trainer, great work ethic, and you can see he’s a star.

“Top player, works so hard. Come back after the World Cup, some players go missing – on their holidays or they don’t want to come back. He’s come straight back and got himself into it because he knows the common theme is to have real success at Brighton, it just shows you what a great character he is.

“The only question we didn’t ask him was is he gonna try and get his mate Messi here now? He needs a club. What a player.”

Nizaar Kinsella Confirms£53M Rated South American Star Has Joined Chelsea’s Four Man‘List’Of Midfield Targets

Chelsea have added Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte to their “list” of midfield targets, according to the Evening Standard reporter Nizaar Kinsella.

The usually reliable journalist claims the Uruguayan international is now being considered as an option along with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone and West Ham’s Declan Rice:

Chelsea have drawn up a midfield shortlist but worth not forgetting that Andrey Santos has always been considered a signing for the first team and the Blues want him in soon: https://t.co/5Cyj4x3T8q #CFC

Ugarte is someone who likes to get stuck in, to say the least. He has picked up 15 yellow cards so far this campaign, having also been sent off on one occasion for two bookable offences in the Europa League.

The 22-year-old is, however, pretty decent in possession, and he very rarely gives the ball away under pressure, much like Mateo Kovacic.

Other Premier League teams, including Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle have also been linked with Ugarte in recent days. He also has a €60m (£53m) release clause, which may well tempt teams to make a move so we shall see how this transfer story unfolds in the coming weeks.
