 Daniel Levy’s Hotspur sold their talismanic striker Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the recently culminated transfer window. Fabrizio Romano has revealed an interesting detail about the buy-back clause in the deal.

Former Spurs superstar Kane was linked with a move away from the London-based club throughout the 2023 summer transfer window. Premier League giants Manchester United were also reportedly interested in signing the player but the England international eventually ended up moving abroad. Bayern got their hands on the prolific centre-forward for a total package in excess of £100 million.

The Lillywhites’ Chairman, Levy recently told the media that the club has a buy-back clause incorporated in their agreement with the Bundesliga champions. The English businessman displayed his gratitude towards the player’s contribution towards the team’s history and said that the 30-year-old is “always welcome back” and a loved member of the Spurs family.

has provided the details regarding the buy-back clause that the Spurs Chairman talked about. The actual clause in the detail is very different from a traditional buy-back clause. The Italian journalist revealed that the Premier League side only have a “gentleman agreement” with the German giants which dictates that the Byern hierarchy will officially inform Tottenham in case they receive an offer for Kane in the future.

The clause does not give the Londoners any control over their all-time top goalscorer’s future but only gives them a chance to match the bid sent by the other potential suitors. The clause is a private agreement between the two clubs. The transfer market expert further reported that the final decision regarding the future rests entirely with the centre-forward and the Bavarians.

He took to social media to clarify: “Tottenham don’t have traditional buy-back clause for Harry Kane — but only ‘matching rights’ in case Bayern receive future bids. The final decision will always be up to Harry Kane and of course Bayern, not to Spurs or any other club.”
