‘Gave us a last dance’: Liverpool fans react as Roberto Firmino shines in final Premier League game

Roberto Firmino gave Liverpool fans the perfect send-off with a goal against Southampton in his last-ever game for the Merseyside side.

The Brazilian international bagged his final goal for the Reds on the south coast as Firmino was last week given an emotional departure at Anfield ahead of his exit from the Premier League giants, with the 31-year-old adding to his strike against Aston Villa with another on the south coast.

With fifth place confirmed heading into today, there was a pre-season feel around Liverpool’s trip to Southampton, with Firmino putting Jurgen Klopp’s side 2-0 up against the St. Mary’s Side before the hosts threw the game into utter chaos, with the scoreline reading 4-4 at full-time

With Firmino coming off just before the hour-mark, it was a fitting end to the forward’s time with Liverpool as the striker scored in what will be his last-ever match for the Reds. And as you can expect, the Brazilian’s strike was met with an emotional response on social media.

Here’s what some Liverpool fans had to say on Twitter about Firmino’s final performance for the club ahead of his departure from Anfield this summer…

That’s Firmino’s 11th goal in the PL, more than Nunez & Jota. He’s only started 13 in the league this season. We’ll miss him. #LFC

What Alexis Mac Allister did after Brighton’s loss to Aston Villa as Liverpool seeks transfer

Alexis Mac Allister appeared to bid Brighton an emotional farewell following his side’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Albion finished their season with a rare blemish as goals from Jacob Ramsey and Ollie Watkins secured the victory despite Deniz Undav’s well-taken strike.

The Seagulls midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, played the full match, and going by the scenes at the full-time whistle, this may be his final game for the south coast outfit – who end the campaign in sixth.

When the Argentinian made his way over to the travelling Brighton fans, he could be seen being consoled by captain Lewis Dunk as the 24-year-old broke down in tears.

Then Roberto De Zerbi waved to the supporters, calling on them to thank him and they sang Mac Allister’s song with real gusto. As the players made their way off the pitch, Mac Allister, who thanked the thousands at Villa Park who had made the journey, was still crying.

If the former Argentinos Juniors star does leave, he will leave with the blessing of everyone connected to Brighton after signing for them in early 2019. He has scored 12 goals in a superb season, where he also won the World Cup with Argentina.
