Forgotten 23-year-old West Ham man snapped on plane with squad ahead of Europa Conference League final

Forgotten 23-year-old West Ham man snapped on plane with squad ahead of the Europa Conference League final.

David Moyes has the chance to be the first Hammers manager for 43 years to lift a major trophy in the Conference League final tomorrow.

Prague is being taking over by West Ham fans as we speak. As many as 20,000 of us are expected to be out in the capital of the Czech Republic.

The Hammers squad are out there as well after flying out yesterday. And there was a surprise face on the plane…

Forgotten 23-year-old West Ham man snapped on plane with squad ahead of Europa Conference League final
The Hammers squad flew out to the Czech Republic yesterday, and were greeted by a host of photographers and reporters, as expected.

There he is – Conor Coventry! Be honest, who thought he would be heading out to Prague with the squad?

The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Rotherham United, and it is clear to see for most of us that he isn’t quite at the level required to play in the Premier League.

In all honesty, I had completely forgotten about him. Coventry is out of contract with the Hammers in the summer of 2024.

I fully expect him to leave the London Stadium before the end of the summer transfer window. So with that in mind, it was a real surprise to see him with the squad on the plane heading out to the Europa Conference League final.

West Ham eyeing shock move to sign ‘exceptional’ Brennan Johnson for £40 million

West Ham are keen to sign Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson, but could face competition from Everton.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, West Ham and Everton are set to battle it out for the signing of £40 million rated Nottingham Forest youngster Brennan Johnson in the summer transfer window.

Hammers boss David Moyes will be keen to bolster his attacking midfield ranks with some young and supremely talented players this summer.

What an incredibly exciting signing this one would be for the Hammers. However, it seems as though we won’t have it all our own way in the race for his signature…

West Ham eyeing shock move to sign Brennan Johnson

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Hammers are chasing the 22-year-old’s signature ahead of the summer transfer window, with Forest demanding £40 million.

I would absolutely love Moyes to bring Johnson to the London Stadium, what a brilliant player he is.

Johnson is an incredibly exciting young talent. He is a number 10 by trade but he can also play on either wing. He was recently described as an exceptional talent by former Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton (FLW).

The attacking midfielder was in superb form for Forest last season with 16 goals and nine assists to his name in 46 Championship games (Transfermarkt).

Johnson bagged 10 goals and three assists in 44 games in all competition for Forest this season (Transfermarkt).

He can play pretty much anywhere along the front line and has technical ability, pace and desire in abundance.

The German is a superb passer of the football and is very comfortable in possession. This season, he has made 49.4 passes per game on average in the Bundesliga and has recorded a hugely impressive completion rate of 89.1% (Who Scored).

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, the German is physically imposing and is incredibly dominating in the air. Bleacher Report once described him as an ‘outstanding’ defender.

He has a release clause worth €18 million (£15.4 million) inserted into his current contract with Bayer Leverkusen, according to BILD. That must be activated before the start of July though.

If David Moyes brings Jonathan Tah to West Ham in the summer transfer window, I think he’d be a great signing for us, especially for just £15.4 million.
