‘Fantastic’… Man City told they have a teenager who will be worth £100m, Guardiola’s played him just once

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony believes Jadel Katongo will be worth £100 million one day.
The 19-year-old, who joined Manchester City’s academy at Under-19 level is on loan at Peterborough.
Katongo, a centre-back by trade has started in 16 out of 38 games for The Posh in League One this season.
The Englishman has just been played by Pep Guardiola once, as he started for City in their 2-0 victory against Girona, with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland getting on the scoresheet.
Darragh MacAnthony says Jadel Katongo will be worth £100 million in two or three years
The teenager started in a youthful backline, as he was partnered by Shea Charles, with Rico Lewis and Sergio Gomez operating as the full-backs.
Now, Darragh MacAnthony has predicted that Jadel Katongo will be worth a whopping £100 million sooner rather than later.

“Let’s talk about Jadel Katongo, Man City, been fantastic with us, by the way.”
“He’s probably going to be worth £100 million in two, three years’ time”, he said on The Hard Truth- Inside The Football Industry with Darragh MacAnthony.
If Jadel Katongo is worth £100 million, he will make the grade at Manchester City
While Jadel Katongo has tons of potential, if Darragh MacAnthony is proven right about his value in two to three years, he will become a first-team player at Manchester City without question.
As brilliant as the likes of Oscar Bobb and Rico Lewis are, currently, it would be a stretch to suggest that they will be worth £100 million in a few years.
It is difficult to see when Katongo gets the chance to become a senior member of City’s squad.
Unlike in previous seasons, Pep Guardiola does not have a single weak link among his centre-back options.
John Stones, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji and Josko Gvardiol all have a claim for getting into any team in the world if not their squad.
As a result, Jadel Katongo will have to justify his incredible potential to even be in with a chance of being a rotational option at Manchester City, let alone become a starter.
But if Darragh MacAnthony’s projection about the highly-rated defender’s potential is proven correct, there would be no stopping him.

Who Is Premier League Star Virgil van Dijk’s Wife, Rike Nooitgedagt?
Meet the wife of Dutch titan Virgil van Dijk, whom he’s been with since childhood.

If you’ve ever tuned into a Liverpool match, even for the untrained eye, it’s impossible not to notice the 6-foot-5 sentinel, laying waste to all ye who dare encroach upon the Reds’ backline. To put it simply, watching Virgil van Dijk defend his domain is awe-inspiring. Between his size, game IQ, his dauntless effort and his absurd blend of explosiveness and touch, van Dijk’s a beast on the pitch in the same way that Aaron Judge is a nightmare on the baseball diamond — he can do things that mortals just shouldn’t be able to do. He earned the PFA Player of the Year award in 2019, and has been a crucial part to Liverpool’s recent run of success.

While van Dijk has quickly risen to be one of the Premier League’s brightest stars since his arrival to Anfield’s hallowed halls in 2018, little is known about his wife Rike Nooitgedagt, who’s been his long-term rock throughout his life ever since the couple met during their childhood. Well, we’re here to change that with this breakdown of everything you need to know about her.
How did Virgil Van Dijk meet Rike Nooitgedagt?
Van Dijk and Nooitgedagt grew up together in Breda, Netherlands, and they began dating when they were just teenagers, according to The Sun. As the Dutchman chased his career, Nooitgedagt fully stuck by her man, helping him achieve his dreams as football took them all over Europe, including Scotland when Van Dijk was with Celtic.
What does Rike Nooitgedagt do for a career?
Unlike most WAGS of the English Premier League, Nooitgedagt has shied away from capitalizing on her celebrity status on social media and seems to enjoy living her life with van Dijk and her family away from the spotlight. That said, while the Dutch center-back was waylaying strikers’ dreams of scoring, Nooitgedagt was busily forging a successful career as a fashion sales manager, according to Sportskeeda. Once van Dijk landed in Glasgow in 2013 to play for Celtic, she made the difficult sacrifice to give up her job. Nooitgedagt spoke about the decision to quit her job, explaining that she did it to support van Dijk and his career ambitions.

“I worked as a sales manager and sold different fashion brands to the stores in Holland,” Nooitgedagt explained in 2019. “I loved it but had to resign to follow my man everywhere football takes him to. So far, we’ve been settling well and having adventures with our lovely dog.”
When were Virgil Van Dijk and Rike Nooitgedagt married, and do they have kids?
After dating since they were teenagers back in the Netherlands, Van Dijk and Nooitgedagt’s love story opened a new chapter when the happy couple tied the knot in 2017 while the star defender was still playing for Southampton and not Liverpool.

Though they tend to live their life away from social media, Nooitgedagt does enjoy expressing her affection for Van Dijk, captioning one snap with, “I love you not only for who you are but for who I am when I’m with you.”
In terms of children, according to The Sportslite, Van Dijk and Nooitgedagt share two kids together. Their first daughter Nila was born in 2014, and the couple’s second daughter Jadi was born in 2016.

FOOTBALLLiverpool keen to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Donyell Malenby stevenmangan19 March 2024
Liverpool could be looking to bolster their attacking midfield areas in the summer and they have been checking on some of the top talents across Europe.
The Reds will usher in a new direction next summer under a new manager as Jurgen Klopp will step down from his role after nine years at the club. Fenway Sports Group are in the process of setting up the structure, and already Michael Edwards has been appointed as the club’s CEO.

Liverpool will also appoint a sporting director shortly. Edwards has a keen eye for picking up talents, and Liverpool will go through their scouting process rigorously before making moves for new additions.
While the Reds have enough depth and quality in their forward areas, Edwards could make the ruthless decision to offload Mohamed Salah if the Reds receive a good offer from Saudi clubs. Likewise, Cody Gakpo, who has struggled to make a huge impact, could face an uncertain future.
Liverpool in race to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Donyell Malen
According to Sky Sports journalist, Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Donyell Malen in the summer transfer window.
The Reds could face competition from Arsenal and other Premier League clubs. Fabrizio Romano shared Malen could leave the German club next summer, and he is emerging as a “concrete option” for Liverpool among others.
“News Malen: Been told that ManUtd is not seriously pushing for the 25 y/o winger at this stage! Arsenal, Liverpool and other clubs from the Premier League are more concrete options for him in the summer!,” wrote Plettenberg on X.
The Dutch winger has managed 13 goals and five assists in all competitions this season, and he has a contract at Dortmund until 2026. He wants to leave the club in the summer, and any potential suitor will have to pay a fee of around £34m-£42m to secure his signature.
Should Dalen be tempted to join the Reds, he will find company in compatriots Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch at Anfield.

Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to 38 games as they beat Freiburg 3-2 on Sunday.
The result kept Leverkusen 10 points clear of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga table as Alonso’s team close in on a shock title win. Leverkusen have eight games left, meaning they need five more wins to guarantee the German league title.
Leverkusen’s latest win came amid Liverpool’s 4-3 FA Cup defeat at Manchester United on Sunday. The Reds saw their hopes of a historic quadruple end at Old Trafford as Amad Diallo’s late goal in extra-time clinched the quarter-final tie for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Liverpool’s defeat to their bitter rivals was all the more galling with legendary manager Jurgen Klopp stepping down in the summer. The German will, however, still end the season with silverware after February’s Carabao Cup win – and the Reds are still in the hunt for a treble with the Premier League title race wide open and a place in the Europa League quarter-finals against Atalanta secured.

Alonso is seen as one of the leading contenders to replace Klopp this summer and Leverkusen’s impressive performances are adding stock to his growing reputation as a coach. Like Liverpool, Leverkusen could also end the 2023/24 campaign with three trophies.
Along with their commanding Bundesliga title-race lead, Leverkusen are also in the German Cup semi-finals and could meet Klopp’s Reds in the Europa League final at Dublin Arena on May 22.
Speaking about links with the Liverpool job, Alonso has previously said his focus is on the job he is currently doing in Germany: “Speculation is normal, my focus is here on Bayer Leverkusen. I am very happy at Leverkusen with my players at the moment.
“[It was a] big surprise in Liverpool, of course — for what Jurgen did in Liverpool I have great respect and admiration. I am really happy here. I am enjoying my work here.
“I am feeling each day and each game is a challenge. I am on a beautiful journey in Leverkusen. The next one, I don’t know. I am thinking about where I am right now. I am in a great place and I am enjoying.”

When Liverpool fought out their mesmeric 1-1 draw with Man City earlier this month, it was seen as the end of the Jurgen Klopp/Pep Guardiola Premier League rivalry.
It is the German who boasts the superior head-to-head record, winning eight of their 22 meetings in English football in comparison to the Spaniard’s seven victories. Yet, it is Guardiola who has lifted more silverware.
While Klopp has won every major honour with the Reds, with his second League Cup win last month taking his overall total of trophies at Anfield to eight, Guardiola has won 16 trophies with Man City – including five Premier League titles.

Both Liverpool and Man City are again competing for the title again this year, with the Reds one point ahead of the reigning champions, who currently sit third, with 10 Premier League fixtures remaining.

But while the pair are continuing to battle each other as a result, their 1-1 draw at Anfield at Anfield signalled the end of an era ahead of Klopp’s exit at the end of the season. It was the last time the German’s Liverpool side would take to the field against Guardiola’s Man City.
Of course, such a notion was accompanied by a caveat – It was still possible that they could enjoy one final showdown at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup. However, the Reds’ quarter-final exit to Manchester United on Sunday has ended any such possibility.
Yet it is actually possible that there could still be one last meeting in the Klopp/Guardiola Liverpool/Man City rivalry. There could still be an unprecedented end to the Premier League season.
While Arsenal are current league-leaders, they only top the table on goal difference ahead of the Reds. With their next Premier League meeting away at Man City on Sunday 31 March, they could easily soon drop to third below both their title-rivals.
And with the margins so narrow between Liverpool and City, their 1-1 draw at Anfield has now opened up the possibility of the pair facing off in a Premier League title play-off at a neutral ground to decide who will be champions come the end of the season.
Should the top two sides in the table finish the campaign level on points, league position is decided on goal difference, then goals scored, then most points in the head-to-head matches, then most away goals in the head-to-head record.
Liverpool currently boast one point more than City and hold a superior goal difference by four (+39 to +35), having scored two more goals than their rivals and conceded two less. It is still feasible that such records could end up identical come May.
Beyond that, it comes to head-to-head record. Yet Liverpool and Man City fought out 1-1 draws at both the Etihad and at Anfield. Consequently, there would be no way to separate them and, in such a scenario, a 39th game would be required.
In contrast, there is no chance of the Reds contesting a Premier League play-off to decide the destination of the title if they finished level on points with Arsenal.

The Gunners boast a superior GD of +46 (having scored five more and conceded two less than Liverpool) and also beat Klopp’s men on head-to-head record. They drew 1-1 at Anfield back in December, before winning 3-1 at the Emirates at the start of February.
With Mikel Arteta’s men winning 1-0 at home to Man City back in October, only a 1-0 loss at the Etihad next mon
