Fabrizio Romano shares what Liverpool’s medical staff are now thinking about Salah’s injury

Mohamed Salah has picked up an injury.

The Egyptian has sustained a hamstring issue while on international duty at the African Cup of Nations, and he’s now been sent back to Merseyside for treatment.

Making a cross-continent trip to deal with a hamstring injury doesn’t sound too positive, but, luckily, there is some good news on this front.

Indeed, speaking on the Men In Blazers Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Salah’s situation, and he says that Liverpool’s medical staff are positive on this situation, believing that he could still have a part to play for Egypt in the latter stages of the Cup of Nations should they make it that far.

Salah could still feature at AFCON

Romano shared what he knows about Salah.

“They trust their medical staff and they believe they are the best people to make Mo feel good for Egypt and for Liverpool’s second half of the season. I still think he has a chance to go with the squad at the end of AFCON, this is also the feeling also with the Liverpool medical staff, but they don’t want to take any risks, he’s crucial to win the title and keep going in all competitions,” Romano said.

Will Egypt make it?

While it’s great to her that Salah could be back for the final stages of AFCON, we have to wonder whether or not Egypt will get there without their star man.

If ever there was a one-man team at international level, this is it.

With all due respect to Salah’s peers, the Liverpool star is the only world-class player in this team, and without him, their chances of making the final of this tournament drop massively.

Of course, if Egypt can progress without Salah, his return in the latter stages could be just what they need to secure glory.

Luckily, it sounds as though Salah’s injury isn’t all that serious.
