Fabrizio Romano: £100,000-a-week Man City star may leave with Saudi clubs keen.

Manchester City have been rocked as it has emerged that one of their first team stars may opt to quit the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Man City eyeing double
Pep Guardiola’s side clinched their fourth consecutive Premier League title on Sunday with a 3-1 win over West Ham, pipping Arsenal to top spot by two points. They could yet make that a domestic double should they beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley this weekend, a result that would also leave the Red Devils without any European football next season, something that they have not been faced with since 2015.

But it has not been as calm as the previous season for Guardiola’s side, and this summer seems likely to bring with it plenty of change, with Kevin de Bruyne’s future unclear amid interest from Saudi Arabia. Equally unclear are the futures of Bernardo Silva and Sergio Gomez, with the former a long-term target for Spanish giants Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Kalvin Phillips’ time at City appears up, though interested parties have been put off by the hefty price tag demanded for the midfieder by Guardiola’s side, and they are likely to need to take a loss on the midfielder to move him on.

Another that the club may need to cut their losses on is Joao Cancelo, who has spent this season on loan with Barcelona but whose value only continues to decrease, with the Catalan side unlikely to be able to stump up the funds to sign him permanently for anything like the £60m City shelled out to bring him to the Etihad.

There are rumours on the incoming front too. There is long-term interest in the likes of Premier League stars Eberechi Eze, Pedro Neto and Michael Olise as the Cityzens look to flex their financial muscles once more this summer. But now, they have been stung by the news that they may lose a cornerstone of their starting XI this summer.

Ederson could depart Man City
That news comes courtesy of reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Ederson could be on his way out of the Etihad this summer.

The Brazilian shot-stopper, who will miss the FA Cup final after suffering a fractured eye socket against Tottenham a week ago, still has two years left to run on his £100,000 per week deal in Manchester, but it is claimed that he could leave this summer should the club and player recieve “a good proposal”, with the goalkeeper “considering [his] possibilities at the end of the season”.

That comes amid interest from Saudi Arabia, who are keen to continue their hefty recruitment drive having already signed teammate Riyad Mahrez 12 months ago from the Etihad outfit.

However, Romano adds that “it will be up to the player” as to whether he forces a move away or not, with Guardiola known not to stand in the way of players who wish to depart.

Should he opt to leave, it means that he has already played his last competitive game for City, and it could make the potential contract renewal for Stefan Ortega even more of a priority on the blue side of Manchester.

Man City want another Everton youngster alongside Branthwaite in £10m move.

Manchester City are showing concrete interest in another Everton player alongside their links to Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, according to a new transfer update.

Man City eyeing Branthwaite move
Pep Guardiola’s side made history on Sunday afternoon, becoming the first team in English football history to win four Premier League titles in a row. City are not an outfit who rest on their laurels, however, and they will already be looking at potential signings for next season, strengthening their squad even further. Centre-back could be an area of the pitch where they target new faces, and Branthwaite has emerged as a reported target

Guardiola’s men are reportedly looking to snap up the young Englishman from under the noses of rivals Manchester United, in a deal that would feel particularly sweet if they managed to beat them to his signature.

Branthwaite has enjoyed a superb season for Everton, standing out as one of their star performers, helping them avoid relegation to the Championship despite points deductions at Goodison Park. The 21-year-old ended up starting 35 of the Blues’ 38 Premier League matches, forging a strong partnership with James Tarkowksi and averaging 2.7 aerial duel wins per game.

The Everton ace is far from City’s only summer target, however, and it now looks as though another Toffees player is also on their radar.

Man City want Everton goalkeeper
According to a new update from Football Insider, Manchester City are showing genuine interest in Everton goalkeeper Douglas Lukjanciks this summer. No bid has been tabled yet, but a £10m move has been mooted, highlighting his potential with so little experience, and the Merseysiders feel he “has the potential to be a future number one and a successor” to Jordan Pickford.

The 16-year-old prospect is also wanted by Chelsea, so it is clear those within the game believe he has a seriously bright future.

Lukjanciks of course wouldn’t be coming in as an immedate first-team player for City next season, but he could be such an astute signing, in terms of both the long-term future and ensuring that there is a nucleus of English talent in the squad moving forward.

The goalkeeper isn’t able to sign his first professional contract until he turns 17 later this year, which could allow the Cityzens the opportunity to snap him up more easily. The lure of moving to such a dominant club with so much talent in their youth ranks could be too great to turn down, too.

The teenager has won two caps apiece for England’s Under-16s and Under-17s, as well as making six appearances in the Under-18s Premier League, despite still only being 16 years of age.

Eventually, the influential Ederson will need to be replaced – Stefan Ortega is also 31 now – and if Lukjanciks came in and impressed at youth team level for a number of years, he could then make the step up to the senior setup over time.

£300k-a-week Man City star who Pep called “irreplaceable” ready to leave.

One Manchester City star is now looking to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer despite Pep Guardiola’s admiration for him, according to a new report.

Man City exit rumours
Pep guided Man City to a historic fourth successive Premier League title this past weekend, with a 3-1 win over West Ham on the final day ensuring City would pip Arsenal to the trophy.

However, despite City sitting top of the pile in six of the past seven seasons, it could be a summer of change on the blue side of Manchester. There have been rumours on a number of star players potentially leaving the Etihad, with Kevin de Bruyne’s future unclear amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, first-choice goalkeeper Ederson could also head for the exit door, with the Brazilian also having interest from the Saudi Pro League. Stefan Ortega’s future could also be decided in the next few weeks, with new contract talks stalling.

To make matters worse, an outfield star seemingly has his heart set on a move away over the coming months.

Bernardo Silva ready to leave Man City
According to Football Insider, Bernardo Silva has made a transfer decision and wants to leave the Etihad this summer. Paris Saint-Germain have made the midfielder a top target, with the £300,000-a-week star is now ready to quit after winning a sixth Premier League title in seven years.

Bernardo Silva celebrates scoring for Manchester City.
Silva, who arrived from AS Monaco, has been a key performer under Guardiola in recent years, but it looks as if his days in Manchester could now be numbered.

As can be seen, his stint with the Sky Blues has been extremely successful, with Guardiola praising the 29-year-old on a number of occasions.

“Everybody loves him and we want him. He’s really important for him to stay with us”, said Guardiola after Silva’s FA Cup double against Newcastle United in March.

Back in October, the City boss also called Silva irreplaceable: “I could stay here and talk for 10 minutes on what Bernardo Silva means for me and our team. He is a player that is beyond good in all departments – solidarity, intelligence, he understands everything.

“We are in love with him. The problem is he has no big cars, he dress maybe not for high style. He is humble and everybody loves him in the locker room. We were lucky not to lose him. He is irreplaceable. I know he is happy here.”

NEWSManchester City players left ‘annoyed’ by major change implemented by Pep GuardiolaPublished: 15:30 on May 22nd 2024 | Last Updated: 14:34 on May 22nd 2024By Harry Winters

Manchester City first-team players were reportedly left disgruntled by Pep Guardiola’s change to the schedule at the City Football Academy earlier this year.

The Sky Blues clinched a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title on Sunday afternoon, beating West Ham United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium to secure their sixth title in seven years ahead of runners-up Arsenal.

Phil Foden’s first-half brace and a second-half strike from Rodri to restore the two-goal lead secured Manchester City’s third trophy of the campaign, following success in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, and ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Final.

The Cityzens can win their fourth trophy of the season with a win over Manchester United this weekend, with Manchester City having the opportunity to become the first club to win back-to-back Premier League and FA Cup trophies.

Sunday’s Premier League title success was Guardiola’s 17th major trophy at the Etihad Stadium, with the Catalan having also won a landmark treble last season, lifting the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Emirates FA Cup.

The 53-year-old has maintained high standards since arriving in east Manchester in 2016, but could leave the club at the end of next season, with Guardiola out of contract at the Etihad Stadium in 2025.

Manchester City are unbeaten in their past 35 matches across all competitions, and the Blues’ recent title success could have been impacted by Guardiola’s decision to make a major change to first-team training at the City Football Academy.

Paul Hirst has revealed that Guardiola ‘annoyed’ players by changing training times in January, with the manager standing by his decision despite unhappiness from some members of the squad.

Manchester City have played 58 matches so far this season; with 43 wins, 11 draws and four defeats during the 2023/24 campaign to date.

Guardiola’s side will play significantly more matches next season, with an increase in Champions League fixtures and the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in America.

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Manchester City might not need to sign a new goalkeeper if Ederson leave the club this summer as Stefan Ortega could be ideal to replace him as first choice.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, Romano praised Ortega for how well he’s played when he’s had to cover for Ederson, who’s had some injury problems in recent times.

Ederson has shone as Man City no.1 for many years now and it seems a gamble not to sign a top class replacement, but it seems Romano rates Ortega highly enough to step into the role.

Saudi Pro League clubs could be eyeing up Ederson, and Romano says City will ultimately leave it down to the Brazil international to decide whether or not to move on from the Etihad Stadium.

Ederson transfer: Could Ortega be Man City’s new first choice goalkeeper?

Ederson and Ortega
“Another story to watch with City could be the future of Ederson. There is, from what I’m hearing, a concrete chance for the Brazilian goalkeeper to leave City in the summer transfer window,” Romano said.

“There is interest from Saudi and other clubs, so we could see some movement in the goalkeeper market this summer. We’ll have to see what happens with the likes of Jan Oblak, Aaron Ramsdale and Bento, and it looks like Ederson could also be part of this domino. Man City will leave it to the player, they are aware of Saudi interest and won’t stand in his way.

Arsenal considering move for versatile Serie A ace ahead of transfer window

“Man City are considering moving for another goalkeeper in the summer, and also they have Stefan Ortega at the club and he’s been fantastic, always very special whenever he plays, like that save against Son Heung-min that made such a big difference in the title race.

“In terms of a replacement, I personally think the best fit for them could be Ortega, who is already at the club. He’s shown he’s a fantastic goalkeeper and in my opinion he’s ready to be their first choice.”

TRANSFERSPep Guardiola and 381-appearance star offered shock switch to MLS club – ‘growing confidence’ surrounding dealPublished: 10:45 on May 22nd 2024 | Last Updated: 10:37 on May 22nd 2024By Harry Winters

Manchester City pair Pep Guardiola and Kevin De Bruyne could make a sensational switch to New York City FC in the MLS.

Both manager Pep Guardiola and senior midfielder Kevin De Bruyne are out of contract at the Etihad Stadium next summer, with the growing potential for the pair to leave the club at the end of their current deals in 2025.

Guardiola has been at Manchester City since 2016 and the 2024/25 campaign is set to mark his ninth season in charge in east Manchester, meanwhile Belgian midfielder De Bruyne has been with the club since August 2015.

De Bruyne has made 340 appearances under the management of Guardiola, with the 32-year-old having become a six-time Premier League winner last weekend, and also surpassed the 100-goal mark for the Sky Blues this season.

The midfield star has 180 direct goal involvements in 260 Premier League appearances, and despite plans for Saudi Pro League to make major offers to the player, the Belgian international is set to remain at Manchester City this summer.

Manager Guardiola has taken charge of 471 matches and lifted 17 major trophies to date, becoming the first manager to win four consecutive Premier League titles as a result of Sunday’s historic win over West Ham.

The 53-year-old has won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Emirates FA Cup, League Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FA Community Shield during his glittering spell at Manchester City.

Guardiola and De Bruyne could both be set to conclude their penultimate campaign at the club this weekend at Wembley Stadium, however the pair could reportedly remain within the City Football Group network after departing Manchester City next year.

According to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, club executives want Guardiola and De Bruyne to move to MLS sister-club New York City in the summer of 2025, with ‘growing confidence’ surrounding an agreement.

New York City officials want the pair to ‘herald a new era and stadium’ at the American club, with NYCFC set to open a new $780 million ground next to the iconic Citi field in 2027.

Guardiola has previously lived in New York, and both the Catalan and De Bruyne are set to be part of the Manchester City squad that will travel stateside next summer for the 32-team FIFA Club World Cup.

New York City FC have competed in the MLS since 2015 and won the MLS Cup in 2021.

As the celebrations from Sunday’s Premier League title win begin to subside, Manchester City will shift their attention to Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester United. Saturday’s final at Wembley will be their final game of the season. There is the potential there for the champions to claim more silverware to cap off a remarkable 23/24 campaign.

Manchester City’s fourth consecutive Premier League title win has dominated the headlines since Sunday. Unfortunately, the ongoing Premier League case against the club has also become part of the narrative. Bein Sports presenter Richard Keys wrote on his personal blog that City’s success comes with an asterisk. Other platforms have shared similar sentiments. But a new report indicates that Manchester City is confident of clearing it’s name. It also explains that the club hierarchy has given Pep Guardiola assurances that the club will clear its name.

Paul Hirst has reported for the Times that Manchester City’s hierarchy have given their manager assurances that the club will clear their name. Furthermore, Hirst reports that the hearing on City’s ongoing Premier League case it set to take place later this year. Furthermore, Hirst also reports that Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, Txiki Begiristain, and Ferran Soriano have assured Pep Guardiola that the club will clear their name.

The baristas, Pep’s “climb the mountain” team talks, his tweaking of the defence, the importance of Carlos Vicens, Phil Foden’s maturity, KDB’s refreshing break & a night out in Tokyo – a long read (yes, another one) on City’s season with Don @LuMartinBCN https://t.co/N7ZbSruUvw
